Chapter 572 He Didn't Even Give You the Medical Report

Elara reached out to stop Jesse. "What are you up to?"

"I'm the guy you've been waiting for," Jesse said coolly, picking up his pace.

Elara was taken aback by how quickly he owned up to it.

She shut the door and kept up the act, trailing behind him. "Are you Jason?"

"Yeah," Jesse confirmed.

His eyes roamed the room, taking in the petals, incense, and mood lighting.

"You set me up?" Elara kept playing along.

"This is on me, and I'm sorry," Jesse said, his heart sinking as he took in the scene. His voice got colder. "Do you know what it means to invite a guy to a room like this?"

"Of course," Elara said, settling onto the nearby sofa, "I set it up myself."

"Elara," Jesse's voice rose a bit.

Elara looked at him calmly, barely showing any emotion. "What's the problem?"

"I know I hurt you and messed you up. If you want to hit me, curse me, or whatever, I won't fight back," Jesse couldn't bear the thought of someone else being here. "But you can't do this."

"What do you mean by 'this'?" Elara shot back.

"You're wrecking yourself," Jesse sighed, bracing himself to be blunt, "If someone else had shown up today, seeing you and this room, he would..."

The last words stuck in his throat.

"He'd sleep with me?" Elara finished for him.

Jesse got a bit angry. "You know it, so why do it?"

"I invited him to sleep with him," Elara said, locking eyes with him, "Since you're here, let's get started."

"Start what?" Jesse was confused.

Elara walked up to Jesse, placing her hand on his chest and tracing circles, whispering, "Start an adult game."

Jesse pulled back, catching a glimpse of her slightly open neckline.

He frowned deeply.

"Do I look good?" Elara noticed his stare.

Jesse didn't say anything, quickly taking off his suit jacket.

What was going on? Was Jesse serious?

"Yeah, you look good," Jesse's cool reply reached her ears, and then she felt the warmth and scent of his jacket on her. "The room's chilly; wear this."

Elara's heart warmed at Jesse's unintentional kindness.

"Don't ever do this again," Jesse stressed, adjusting the jacket on her. His tone was like a parent's nagging. "Those random guys you meet might have STDs; don't risk it."

"The guy I found doesn't have any diseases," Elara said deliberately.

"He didn't give you a health report; how do you know?" Jesse firmly warned her. "Don't make your parents worry."

Elara stood still, a lazy strand of hair falling. "What about you?"

"What?" Jesse paused.

"Do you worry?" Elara asked.

Jesse's lips pressed together slightly, his eyes meeting hers. He spoke carefully, "I do."

"Do you like me?" Elara asked again, laying it all out, "If you do, I'll marry you. If not, I'll marry Willie tomorrow."

"Elara," Jesse started but hesitated.

"Just answer the question," Elara cut him off, "Do you like me or not?"

Jesse stayed quiet.

Elara waited, giving him space to think.

"Sorry," Jesse finally said, sticking to his line, "I only see you as a classmate and friend."

"Swear it," Elara demanded.

Jesse said seriously, "I swear."

"Swear that if you have feelings for me, I'll never be happy," Elara pushed him.

Jesse didn't respond. It was always like this; why did she include herself when making others swear?

"I'll take you home," Jesse tried to change the subject.

Elara took off his jacket and handed it back. "No need. If you want to leave, go ahead."

Jesse frowned. "Elara."

"Either stay and finish what we started, or leave and let me enjoy my night," Elara insisted.

Jesse sighed, "You can't act on impulse..."

"Get out!" Elara snapped.

Why was he avoiding her so much? Didn't she mean anything to him?

"Don't be mad; I'll go," Jesse put the jacket back on her. Now he was just in a white shirt.

He took a few steps, looking back a few times, but eventually left.

When the door closed, Elara angrily sat on the sofa.

Seeing things hadn't gone her way, she decided not to stay. She didn't want to spend the night at the hotel.

Elara opened the door, ready to leave, and saw Jesse standing outside.

She was confused.

"What are you doing here?" Elara asked.

"Guarding you," Jesse said seriously, shivering a bit in his white shirt, "You can sleep peacefully."

In other words, as long as he was there, she couldn't invite anyone else.

Elara found him both sweet and annoying.

Seeing him in just a shirt, she threw his jacket back at him. "I don't need you to guard me. Take your jacket and leave. If you don't like me, don't bother me."

"Okay," Jesse took it.

Elara turned and shut the door.

About ten minutes later, she checked the door viewer and saw Jesse still there. She sent a few messages to her friend, Autumn Foster.

Half an hour later, Autumn showed up with three guys.

Jesse saw Autumn about to knock and eyed her warily. "What are you doing?"

"I'm here to see Elara," Autumn, as sweet and cute as Elara, said, "She asked me to bring her some delivery."

Jesse scanned the four of them.

Seeing their hands empty, he asked, "Where's the delivery?"
