Chapter 402 She Was Too Infuriating.

Benjamin couldn't handle her stubbornness, so he just let her go.

After Daphne bounced, he called someone to clean up his villa 'cause he was planning to move in.

Once the call was done, he started packing his stuff. When he finished, he hit up Daphne and then packed her things too.

By then, Daphne was chilling at Daisy's place. It was the first time Daisy saw Daphne jump to check her phone after hearing a notification, and she had a feeling.

"Daphne," Daisy called out.

"Yeah?" Daphne answered.

"Are you seeing someone?" Daisy was sharp.

Daphne paused after replying to the message, a bit surprised, and said, "How'd you guess?"

Logically, the bodyguards wouldn't snoop, and her thing with Benjamin wasn't online.

"You're not the type to be glued to your phone. When someone texted you earlier, you didn't even care," Daisy noted, her eyes softening. "But when that notification came, you were on it immediately."

She added, "He's special to you, huh?"

Daisy was curious, and Daphne didn't deny it; she owned up.

She had set special notification sounds for all of Benjamin's contacts so she could reply to his messages right away.

"When you both have time, I'll introduce him to you," Daphne said, genuinely considering Daisy a good friend. "He's really awesome."

Benjamin was a bit of a schemer, but his care and affection for her were real.

Especially when he said that marriage should only happen because she wanted it, not due to outside pressure. She knew then that he was someone she could trust for life.

"That's great," Daisy said, relieved.

She had always worried that Charles would mess with Daphne, but luckily, things were looking up.

They chatted for a bit longer, and Daphne asked Daisy about her due date. Finding out it was around the 18th of next month, Daphne planned to keep those days free just in case.

"Daphne." Daisy suddenly remembered something important while talking about childbirth and said, "I need a favor."

"Signing the surgery consent?" Daphne guessed.

"Yeah," Daisy nodded.

"No problem," Daphne agreed without hesitation.

Austin and Daisy were divorced, so he couldn't sign. As for Daisy's parents, if they showed up, Daisy would probably get upset even if nothing was wrong. They never cared about her life.

Daisy was grateful and had a lawyer draft a letter of authorization, signed and stamped, to give to Daphne for easier signing.

With this, even if Daphne wasn't her family, she could sign in case of an emergency.

"Don't worry," Daphne reassured her. "The baby will be healthy, and you'll be fine."

"Okay," Daisy said with a slight smile.

Daphne stayed with her for lunch and chatted with her in the afternoon before heading out.

With bodyguards and maids around, Daphne felt more at ease.

When Daisy went out, bodyguards tagged along to ensure her safety. If she wanted to see someone, the bodyguards would go and fetch them.

Overall, everything was going smoothly.

Before leaving, Daphne reminded Daisy to hit her up if she needed anything. Daisy smiled and agreed.

After driving out of the villa area, Daphne planned to go back and move. But as soon as she left the gate, she got stopped.

Seeing the car blocking her way, Daphne frowned. Just as she was about to get out and give someone a piece of her mind, she saw Austin step out. Instinctively, she worried about Daisy. Did he go see her? Did he upset her?

A flood of thoughts hit Daphne, making her look at Austin with clear dissatisfaction.

"Don't give me that look. I didn't go see Daisy," Austin said, like he could read her mind. "I promised her I wouldn't bother her again."

"Then what are you doing here?" Daphne snapped, still not liking him one bit.

"Waiting for you," Austin replied.

"I moved here after the New Year," he explained. "I live nearby and have had people watching for you every day."

Daphne was confused and asked, "What do you want?"

"I promised her I wouldn't bother her, but I want to know how she's doing," Austin said seriously, his attitude different from before. "So I waited for you."

Daphne didn't want to tell him anything. Selfishly, she didn't want Daisy to have any more ties with him.

As a guy who forced his wife to have an abortion, Austin couldn't be a good person, no matter what his reasons were.

"How is she now?" Austin asked.

"She's doing well," Daphne replied curtly. "As for the rest, it's none of your business anymore."

"And the baby?" Austin asked again.

"Also doing well," Daphne replied flatly.

"Can I see her from a distance?" Austin asked, his brows furrowed with a hint of hesitation. "Don't worry. I won't disturb her. I'll just look at her from afar."

Daphne refused sternly, "No."

"Daphne!" Austin felt like she was always ruining his plans, but he couldn't do anything about it.

"What's the point of looking? It's not gonna fix the hurt you caused or make her any happier, right?" Daphne shot back, showing no kindness to jerks. "Why should I disgust her just to satisfy your fake feelings?"

Austin felt like he was going to be sick with anger. He had never met someone who spoke so harshly!

What fake feelings? He truly liked Daisy; he just went about it the wrong way before.

"If you can't say something nice, then maybe just keep quiet," Austin snapped, his eyes brimming with restrained anger. "You're not in my shoes, so who are you to judge me like that?"

"I admitted that I messed up in the past with how I love her," Austin expressed, simply wanting to see Daisy. "But I've learned from my mistakes and I'm working on fixing them. You can scold me, but you can't trample on my feelings, especially by calling them fake."

He couldn't understand why Charles liked such a harsh-talking woman. Did he have a masochistic tendency or something?

"Move your car," Daphne said coldly, not wanting to waste any more words with him.

Sometimes, having a thick skin could make people unstoppable. She couldn't understand how Austin could say these things without feeling embarrassed.

"Take me in to see her," Austin demanded again. "I won't talk to her, just look from a distance."

He had planned to talk nicely with Daphne, but as soon as he spoke to her, he couldn't control his temper. She was just too infuriating.
