Chapter 691 Let Someone Else Hold You and See
Caspian lay on the bed wearing a loose robe, with only the bedside lamp still on.
He held a photo frame in his hand, and the picture showed a girl in a school uniform with a healing smile. If Diana were here, she would know that the person in the photo was her.
Caspian stared at the photo for a long time without putting it down.
He had always lived a simple and ascetic life, but ever since Diana appeared that afternoon, his thoughts had been uncontrollably distracted.
It was past two in the morning.
Caspian turned off the bedside lamp and put down the photo frame.
He tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep until five or six in the morning.
Unable to sleep, he simply got out of bed, changed into loose casual clothes, and went out for a morning run.
In the following days, Diana didn't come to see him again. She spent her days either accompanying Charles here and there or chatting about everything she hadn't talked about in the past two years.
Saturday night.
Diana received a message from Louis confirming that Sabrina and Caspian were not in a romantic relationship.
With this news, Diana felt completely at ease and immediately messaged Caspian to ask him out.
Caspian initially wanted to refuse, but his body made the decision faster than his mind. Before he could reply, he had already grabbed his jacket and opened the door.
By the time he realized what he had done, he was already meeting Diana.
"Let's go." Diana leaned against the car. "Keep me company for a couple of drinks."
Caspian frowned slightly, "Does Charles allow you to drink?"
"I'm twenty-three, not three." Diana walked over to Caspian and pulled him into the car. "If you don't want to drink, you can just watch me."
"Why not ask someone else?" Caspian sat in the passenger seat, his eyes deep.
"I only know you and Charles in Ivrea City." Diana started the car and headed straight for the club Charles owned. "I can't exactly ask those two kids."
Caspian knew who those two kids were—Rex's children. One was seventeen, the other fifteen, definitely not suitable.
Half an hour later, they arrived at their destination.
Diana headed straight for the bar area of the club. After Caspian said he wouldn't drink, Diana ordered herself two low-alcohol fruit drinks.
Seeing that it wasn't strong alcohol, Caspian felt more at ease and didn't interfere with her drinking.
"Caspian." Diana took a sip from one of the drinks.
Caspian's eyes were indifferent, his whole demeanor distant.
Diana took another sip, her gaze falling on his increasingly handsome face. "We used to be so close. How did we end up like this? The first time we met, you even gave me a wooden carved doll. Do you remember?"
"That's all in the past," Caspian's voice was cold and emotionless.
Diana nodded. "You're right."
Diana continued drinking her fruit drink.
Even if she drank to her fill, she wouldn't get drunk on this kind of alcohol. Her tolerance was like Benjamin's; she had never been drunk.
But to make Caspian lower his guard, Diana had to pretend to be drunk, and then put on a little act.
Of course, if Caspian truly didn't like her at all, she wouldn't cling to him.
"But even if it's in the past, those childhood memories are still in my mind." Diana took a small sip, feigning a bit of drunkenness. "You have no idea how I got through the days without your replies."
Caspian sensed something was off.
Diana lay on the table, tilting her head to look at him. "Caspian, do you find me annoying?"
"You're drunk." Caspian noticed the redness on Diana's cheeks and her slightly coquettish voice, decisively taking the glass from her hand. "I'll take you home."
Diana shook her head. "No."
Caspian ignored her refusal, took her things, and carried her out.
Caspian's heart was weighed down with unexpressed emotions. With such a low tolerance, how dare she come out drinking?
"Caspian," Diana murmured, leaning against his chest.
Caspian's back stiffened.
"Why didn't you reply to my messages back then?" Diana asked with drunken eyes, poking his face. "Do you know how sad it made me when you disappeared without a word?"
Caspian placed her in the passenger seat. Sad?
Diana noticed his slightly distracted look and grabbed his arm, continuing to feign drunkenness. "Just explain why you didn't reply to my messages, why you disappeared, and I'll forgive you."
"There's nothing to explain." Caspian fastened her seatbelt.
Just as Caspian was about to drive her to Charles's place, Diana refused and asked him to take her to his home.
Caspian refused without a second thought, but the moment he said no, Diana started crying, her tears falling uncontrollably, making him feel a pang of heartache.
In the end, Caspian had no choice but to agree.
When they arrived at his place, it was just past nine in the evening.
Seeing that she was quite drunk, Caspian fetched her some water, taking care of her meticulously.
"Hug me." Diana raised her hands, her eyes bright and wet like stars, looking at him.
Caspian's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he coldly refused, "It's not appropriate."
Diana plopped down on the floor, her eyes quickly filling with tears, which began to fall continuously.
Caspian had never seen Diana cry before, and his heart clenched.
"Is it because you have a girlfriend?" Diana continued her act, crying, "Is it because your girlfriend won't let you hug me?"
Caspian thought, 'she's so gullible, she even believes a lie.'
"Fine, don't hug me then!" Diana stood up angrily, tears still on her lashes. "I'll go find someone else to hug."
With that, Diana staggered towards the door, opening it.
Even an actor would think she was genuinely drunk, not acting.
With a loud bang, Caspian slammed the door shut.
Caspian pinned Diana against the door, his long-suppressed emotions gradually surfacing, his eyes showing a hint of uncontrollable possessiveness. "You better not do that."
"You hugged your girlfriend, why can't I let someone else hug me?" Diana took the opportunity to ask fiercely.
