Chapter 744 Just in Case
Louis sat on the nearby sofa, and after considering for a while, he spoke up, "There's something I want to discuss with you."
"What is it?" Diana sat on the single sofa next to him, her eyebrows raised with curiosity. "Do you need my help to pursue her, or do you want me to move out so you two can have some alone time?"
"I just met her yesterday," Louis explained briefly.
Diana boldly guessed, "A one-night stand?"
Louis was speechless.
Diana reasoned, "You didn't give a reason, so I can only think in this direction. After all, with your personality, it's impossible for you to bring someone you just met to our place."
"She wants me to marry her," Louis got straight to the point.
Diana was utterly confused, but she didn't rush to ask.
If it were a normal situation where a girl asked Louis to marry her, he would just ignore it and wouldn't bring her home at all.
"Do you think Mom and Dad would agree to my quick marriage?" Louis asked.
Diana blinked, catching his implication. "You want to marry her?"
"I'm considering it," Louis replied calmly.
"Didn't you just meet her yesterday?" Diana's mind couldn't keep up.
From childhood to adulthood, Louis had always been very rational and calm in everything, but now he wanted to get married immediately?
Even Diana hadn't thought about it.
"Mom and Dad definitely won't agree," Diana said directly, thinking he was being irrational. "Don't even think about it."
"Got it." Louis didn't say much.
Diana was still concerned about her brother. "Why do you want to marry her right away?"
Lyra was indeed beautiful, with shoulder-length short hair that made her look like an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl. Her aura was very similar to Louis's, very cold.
How could these two cold people spark any chemistry?
"She's suitable for me," Louis said.
"If Mom and Dad heard that, they would definitely scold you," Diana added.
Louis didn't respond. He just sat there silently.
Seeing him like this, Diana started imagining all sorts of outrageous scenarios, "Could it be a marriage agreement, a one-night stand, or something else between you two?"
"Stop your imagination," Louis said to her.
"Then why do you suddenly want to marry her ?" Diana really didn't understand, she was full of confusion. "You're not that old, and the family isn't pressuring you to get married. Why the rush?"
Louis didn't say much, he just took out a resume from the nearby cabinet and handed it to her. This resume was given to him by Lyra during an interview.
Diana took it with a puzzled look.
"After you get engaged to Caspian, I'll find a time to tell Mom and Dad about this," Louis said while she was reading. "If they oppose, you have to help me."
"Help you with what?" Diana was still reading.
"Tell them you met her before." Louis's intentions were deep.
Diana immediately understood. "Is that why you didn't tell me last night? You want me to find it out on my own?"
"Yes," Louis admitted openly.
Diana returned Lyra's resume and told him directly, "If you really like her, I will help you without hesitation, but since there's no emotional connection between you two, I refuse."
"Also, weren't you just considering it? Why suddenly meet the parents?" Diana asked, still in confusion.
Louis gave the simplest answer, "I've made up my mind."
In fact, it had nothing to do with making up his mind. From the moment he brought Lyra home, he had already decided to agree to her request.
The reason he told Diana he was considering it was just to see if she was willing to help.
"I'm not a kid" Diana didn't believe his excuse at all, and for the first time, she had a disagreement with him. "If you really plan to marry Lyra right away, I'll tell Mom and Dad you just met her yesterday."
Louis unlocked his phone and handed it to her. "Go ahead."
Diana was almost driven mad by him. He was sure she wouldn't say it, right?
"I'll give you one minute to think about it," Louis was very good at handling Diana. "If you don't call Mom and Dad within a minute, you'll help me."
"No." Diana stood up and left the study.
She quickly grabbed her bag and phone and left the villa.
Lyra saw her leave and glanced at Louis, who was coming downstairs.
"She refused," Louis came over and told her the result. Their conversation and interaction were distant. "I'm afraid I can't help you."
Lyra put down what she was holding, her expression still calm. "It's okay, there's still three months. If it still doesn't work out, we'll make other plans."
"Is marriage the only option?" Louis asked.
Lyra answered, "Yes."
Meanwhile, on Diana's side.
She gradually calmed down after driving away.
With Louis's personality, he always considered everything thoroughly, without exception.
Thinking about this, she parked her car in the mall parking lot and sent Louis a message: [Why do you want to marry Lyra? Tell me the truth and I'll consider helping you.]
After sending the message, Louis called her on Facebook.
Diana answered.
"She's asexual like me," Louis said directly, not hiding anything. "We have the same research direction, similar personalities, and hobbies. We're very compatible."
Diana's mind buzzed, and for a moment, she couldn't react, "Asexual?"
"Yes," Louis admitted.
All these years, he had no desire for such things, no interest in men or women.
Lyra was the same.
"If you're both asexual, why get married?" Diana didn't understand. Even though she was knowledgeable, she couldn't comprehend this idea. "Can't you just be friends?"
"She needs to get married to reclaim what's hers," Louis explained without hiding anything.
Diana continued to ask, "Why doesn't she find someone else?"
"I'm the most suitable." Louis didn't elaborate.
Diana wanted to ask more, but knowing Louis's personality, she just asked, "Is this the result of your careful consideration?"
Louis confirmed, "Yes."
Diana responded simply, "Oh."
Louis asked her, "Will you help?"
"I'll think about it." Diana was conflicted.
Louis didn't push her.
Before hanging up, Diana suddenly asked, "Why didn't you just reply to my message and instead called?"
"Just in case," Louis said.
Diana followed up, "Just in case of what?"
