Chapter 21 I'll Go with You to Have a Look

She opened the email, and the contents appeared before her eyes: [Help me find a person, Daphne, female, Gedser, and here is her photo [picture]. As long as you can find all her information, the reward is up to you.]
"..." She glanced at the sender.
It was an email account that she had frequently contacted a few years ago.
At that time, she thought this person was knowledgeable, and they shared common goals in many things, so they helped each other for a while. But after that, they lost touch.
But... why would this person be investigating her?
With a flick of her finger, she replied to the message: [Did this person offend you?]
The message was sent, and Charles received it almost immediately.
She had thought that after several years of no contact, the other party had likely stopped using this account, and she was prepared for the message to go unanswered.
However, she never expected that the other party would respond so quickly.
As he read the reply, he sat in the backseat of the car.
On the seat, fingers tapped on the keyboard, typing out a response: "No, just helping a friend with some research. I can't say much more. Can you find out?"
Daphne looked at the new reply, her brow creasing slightly with contemplation.
In the next moment, she clicked on the image Charles had sent and realized it was a background of Queens Villa's living room.
She replied, "Is your friend Charles?"
She rarely delved into researching people's backgrounds, including the person she was currently communicating with. Her technical skills were mainly focused on gathering evidence.
But now...
Was Charles investigating her?
Or was it someone around Charles?
"Daphne?" Kevin raised his hand and waved in front of her. "Daphne!"
Daphne's gaze shifted away from the phone screen, looking casually at him. "What's up?"
"What were you thinking about?" Kevin stopped at a traffic light, unable to contain his curiosity. "You were staring at the screen for a while."
"Nothing." Daphne locked the screen of her phone and put it in her pocket, disregarding any new email notifications.
"I forgot to tell you earlier, my sister messaged me before you got off the plane. She said Lydia's surgery went well, and she's now in the hospital ward." Kevin continued driving as the green light flashed, unable to hold back the concern. "Just don't worry too much."
"Okay," Daphne responded.
Although she said okay, she couldn't help but worry.
Lydia had always been pampered and protected since childhood. Even if she just scraped her knee, she would cry in front of her like it was a serious injury.
Now with a broken bone and a head injury, Daphne didn't know how much pain Lydia was in.
**6:30 pm**
Kevin drove her to the hospital, informing her of the floor and room number where Lydia was staying before finding a parking spot.
Daphne entered the third ward and arrived on the sixth floor.
The closer she got to the single-patient room where Lydia was, the more nervous and worried she became. By the time she reached the door, her palms were sweaty from anxiety.
Through the observation window on the room door, she saw the scene inside.
A cute and obedient-looking girl lay on the bed, eyes tightly shut as if she were asleep. Sitting beside her bed, with a worried expression, was Mr. Murphy. Blake Murphy was already in his fifties, but his handsome face made him seem more like in his thirties or forties.
He seemed to sense her gaze. Mr. Murphy noticed her through the observation window, and their eyes met.
In that instant.
Both of their hearts stirred. Mr. Murphy's eyes froze for a moment, as if his gaze was glued to Daphne, reluctant to look away.
Daffy...
Daphne couldn't express her emotions. After adjusting her mindset, she opened the door to the room, still wearing the black casual suit she had worn during the divorce, with a shirt inside, White T, the whole thing looked cold.
She closed the door to the ward.
Mr. Murphy's nose tingled as uncontrollable longing surged to his heart. "Daffy."
"How is Lydia?" Daphne didn't call him, standing by the bed, watching the deeply sleeping person.
She's doing okay," Mr. Murphy suppressed his emotions and answered her question, "The wounds have been treated. As for whether there will be any aftereffects, we'll have to wait until she recovers for further examination."
Daphne nodded.
The ward regained its tranquility.
Mr. Murphy's gaze fell on her, his eyes almost solidifying: she had gotten even thinner.
"You..." Mr. Murphy hesitated, wanting to say something.
"I'll stay here at the hospital," Daphne took over his words, her tone detached, "You should go back first."
Mr. Murphy remained silent.
He really wanted to ask her how these past two years had been for her, but he also knew that Daffy wouldn't talk to him about these things.
After careful consideration.
He only asked one question: "Between you and Charles..."
"We're getting a divorce," Daphne sat down on the side, her gaze focused on Lydia.
Mr. Murphy also knew that Daphne didn't want to talk too much with him now. After considering it for a while, he said a few caring words to her before leaving the ward.
On his way out, he happened to run into Kevin.
"Mr. Murphy?"
"Daffy probably rushed back without having lunch," Mr. Murphy was quite familiar with Kevin, he glanced into the ward and added, "Make sure she eats something later."
"Alright," Kevin agreed.
He knew that Daphne and Mr. Murphy didn't have a good relationship.
He didn't say much either.
After Mr. Murphy left, Kevin pushed open the door to the ward and walked in, teasingly saying, "Daphne, guess who I saw when I parked the car."
Daphne gave him a look.
It was obvious that she was warning him not to disturb Lydia's rest or she would kick him out.
"Your spouse from the marriage certificate," Kevin said in a low voice.
“?"
She raised her eyes slightly, questioning her existence, "You didn't see wrong?"
"Of course, I didn't. He was brought here in the business car of the Lancelot Group's branch in Gedser," Kevin explained in detail, adding a bit of gossip, "Do you think he knows you're here and specially came to see Lydia?"
Daphne remained silent and didn't speak.
Recalling the process from getting on the plane to separating from Charles, she confirmed that she hadn't revealed her location.
"It's impossible."
"Why is it impossible?" Kevin said the gossip in a low voice, fearing to disturb Lydia's rest.
Daphne succinctly said, "He doesn't know I'm here, nor does he know that I'm Lydia's sister."
"?"
Kevin suddenly felt a problem with my understanding: "What does it mean?"
"I didn't tell him about my identity," Daphne told him calmly throughout.
"Just because you didn't tell him doesn't mean he can't find out," Kevin knew Charles well. "Whether in Ivrea City or Gedser, he has a wide network of connections. Once the name Charles is mentioned, many people would help him out."
Daphne looked at him.
Kevin seemed to have realized something, his eyes widened, "Did you personally hide your information?"
