Chapter 664 Never Pessimistic

This time, Caspian didn't drive her away.

He knew very well that Diana would only appear in his long life for a fleeting moment, but selfishly, he still wanted to hold on to it.

Seeing that he didn't drive her away, Diana started telling the jokes Charles had told her. Every time, she would burst into laughter before even finishing the joke.

Seeing her like this, Caspian couldn't help but take a few more glances at her.

Diana's innocent and pure smile became a remedy for the wounds in his unfortunate life.

Diana laughed so hard that tears almost came out. "Caspian, do you think it's funny?"

Caspian's lips pressed into a straight line as he said something against his will, "Not funny."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Then I'll ask Charles to find some funnier ones in a couple of days." Diana was very optimistic. "Do you like cold jokes or jokes that make people laugh out loud?"

"I don't like any of them," Caspian rejected her thoroughly.

Diana stood up and came to his side, speaking very seriously, "You're just like my brother. If you keep this up, you'll turn into an old man before you even grow up."

Caspian's eyes lifted slightly, and some emotions stirred in his heart.

"By the way, Caspian," Diana looked up at him with her round, adorable eyes. "Can you smile? I've never seen you smile."

"I can't," Caspian said coldly.

Diana grinned, looking very cute. "I can, I'll teach you!"

Looking at the innocent, lively, and adorable Diana in front of him, Caspian really wanted to reach out and ruffle her hair.

If he had such a cute little sister, he would protect her with his life.

But Caspian knew very well that too much contact would only make him overly attached.

Diana didn't belong here, nor did she belong to him.

Diana didn't notice his distraction and earnestly taught him. "Look, this is how you smile."

After suppressing the emotions in his heart, Caspian took Diana's hand and walked outside.

Diana became very happy. "Caspian, are you willing to go out and play with us?"

Caspian didn't say anything.

When they reached the door.

Seeing Louis and Charles there, Caspian directly handed Diana over, maintaining a distant politeness. "Charles, I have a lot of things to do later, I can't accompany Diana."

"Caspian hates me?" Diana asked Louis.

Louis glanced at Caspian and said, "Yeah."

Caspian instinctively explained, "No."

"Then what is it?" Diana asked directly, "If you have a lot to do, Louis and I can help."

"Good bye," Caspian said to Charles and then went into the room.

The moment he closed the door, he stood behind it and didn't move.

Caspian heard Diana keep asking Louis and Charles why he didn't like her, whether she did something wrong.

He heard them leave together and get into the elevator.

Only when there was no sound outside did he move his feet and return to his own room.

No child didn't long for playmates, no one didn't want warmth, and Caspian was no different.

But accepting warmth was easy, losing it was painful. Rather than that, it was better not to have it from the start.

Diana still didn't understand where she went wrong and finally asked Louis and Charles, "Did I really bother Caspian?"

"Yeah," Louis answered.

Diana looked at him disapprovingly. "Louis!"

"I'm just answering you," Louis explained.

"You're not Caspian, how do you know what he's thinking?" Diana thought it must be her jokes that weren't funny. "I'll learn new jokes tomorrow and go find him again."

"Don't go," Louis stopped her.

Diana looked puzzled. "Why?"

"One day, a rabbit from someone else's house ran into your house. You liked it very much, gave it a name, and even held it to sleep with you," Louis gave an example. "But the next day, the rabbit's owner took it back. What would you do?"

"Make friends with the rabbit's owner!" Diana blurted out.

Louis asked again, "What if the rabbit's owner is an alien?"

Diana's round eyes were full of confusion. "An alien?"

"Yeah," Louis said lightly.

Diana's attention was immediately drawn away. "Are they like the ones in the movies?"

Louis pinched his brow. Why did he use aliens as an example?

"Why aren't you talking?" Diana pressed.

"Aliens are just a metaphor," Louis gave a simple explanation. "They could also be very far away people. The point is, you might never have the chance to see that rabbit again in your life."

"Then I'll ask Mom and Dad to buy me one," Diana said directly.

Louis fell into silence. Forget it, the metaphor was inappropriate.

Caspian's situation was hard to find a suitable metaphor for, especially for Diana to understand.

Her thoughts were always different from most people.

"What's wrong?" Diana asked, seeing Louis's expression for the first time.

"Even if you learn a hundred jokes to tell Caspian, he won't play with you," Louis saw it clearly and told her directly. "He wants a lifelong friend, not a temporary one."

"I can be Caspian's lifelong friend," Diana said firmly.

"You're a child," Louis thought she was too idealistic. "You're in Gedser, he's in Ivrea City."

Hearing this, Diana paused.

She asked very seriously, "Do you mean Caspian is afraid I won't come to find him later, so he doesn't want to play with me?"

Louis fell silent, suddenly not knowing what to say.

"I'll go tell him that I'll come to find him every holiday," Diana said energetically.

Louis asked, "Every holiday?"

"Yes..." Diana was about to say firmly but remembered the extracurricular classes Benjamin and Daphne had signed her up for.

"Don't make promises you can't keep," Louis taught her seriously. "If you can't come because of those classes, it would hurt Caspian."

Diana's head drooped.

Charles ruffled her hair, full of warmth and affection. "Where do you want to take Caspian to play tomorrow?"

"Caspian doesn't even want to talk to me, how could he go out to play with me?" Diana said seriously.

"You tell me the place, and I'll bring him there," Charles understood children's thoughts. Louis, though mature, was still a child. The difference between children and adults was life experience.
