Chapter 667 He Is Right
Louis paused for a moment, "A few more rides?"
"Your dad likes to joke around," Emma said to him, not wanting him to feel too sad. "Don't take his words to heart."
"He's right," Louis said with a hint of seriousness in his childish tone.
Emma was taken aback. "Louis."
"Emma, I'm going to play with them now," Louis said, his gaze falling on a few people preparing to move to another area. He already had an idea. "Tell him that I said thanks."
Emma was very puzzled. Why thank him?
It was hard enough for adults to overcome their fears, let alone Louis, who was just a child.
"Louis!" Diana greeted him warmly after he finished his call. "What did Emma say to you?"
"Nothing much," Louis replied casually, looking around before asking, "What are you guys planning to do?"
"Roller coaster."
"Let's go."
"Okay!" Diana was extremely happy.
In the following times, Louis forced himself to overcome his fear and accompanied Diana and the others on ride after ride.
A few more rides didn't mean he was not scared anymore, it gave him a chane to say that these were no fun and he didn't want to play anymore.
Sure enough, twenty minutes later.
Louis naturally stood up, his childish tone not much different from before. "You guys go ahead, I'll wait for you down there."
"Why?" Diana looked puzzled.
"Boring," Louis said, taking his small backpack from the bodyguard who was following them.
Seeing that he really didn't want to play, Diana didn't force him. The main character today was Caspian, and as long as Caspian was happy, it was fine.
For the rest of the day, Louis didn't participate in any activities. He just sat there playing with his own things.
At first, Charles thought Louis was just making an excuse to get off the ride because he was scared, but seeing him play so many times later, his suspicions were mostly dispelled.
One could only say that Louis was a really good actor.
By five or six in the afternoon, the sun was already setting. In winter, the days are short and the nights are long, and it gets dark early. After taking them to dinner, Charles took them home.
Diana dropped Caspian off at the door, smiling as she said goodbye. "Caspian, let's play again tomorrow!"
"Okay," Caspian replied indifferently.
Diana instantly smiled, as if she hadn't expected Caspian to agree so readily.
Louis's eyes flickered, his gaze falling on Charles, surprised by Caspian's reaction.
After nine o'clock at night.
Taking advantage of Diana going to bed, Louis went to ask Charles the question that had been bothering him. "Why was Caspian suddenly willing to play with Diana?"
"That's a secret," Charles didn't give a direct answer.
"What about his dad?" Louis asked again.
When they dropped him off at home, the house was dark, clearly indicating no one was home.
"Busy with work," Charles answered truthfully. "He probably won't be coming back much."
Bodhi had a company that went bankrupt due to funding and market changes. Staying at home, he felt powerless about the situation, and his temper became increasingly strange. Plus, Caspian's mom had abandoned both of them, so he harbored some resentment towards Caspian.
But now, Charles had told Bodhi how to change the situation, so he went to work on it.
As for Caspian, Bodhi had no intention of taking care of him.
"Then what about Caspian?" Louis instinctively worried about this.
Charles glanced at Diana's room and gave an answer. "I'll take care of him."
According to the information, Charles wasn't someone who liked to meddle in other people's business. Why would he do this?
Louis asked, "Because of Diana?"
"Partly," Charles answered.
At first, it was indeed because of Diana that he wanted to take care of Caspian, who was growing up in a less-than-ideal environment. He wanted Diana to be happy every time she came over. But as he got to know Caspian, he suddenly felt that this was a kid with potential. He might be of some use.
"What do you plan to do?" Louis asked, a bit more curious.
"I'll take care of him the way your parents take care of you," Charles didn't hide anything and spoke directly. "Anyway, I have a lot of free time."
Louis pressed his lips together and didn't ask more, but his feelings were complicated.
How deep were Charles's feelings for Daphne? Just because Diana liked Caspian, he thought of helping to raise him.
"Are you planning to get married?" Louis rarely asked a personal question.
Charles's deep voice was very pleasant, "No."
"Why not?"
"Too much trouble."
Louis didn't ask further. He knew that no matter how much he asked, Charles wouldn't tell the truth.
He stood up and said goodnight, then prepared to go upstairs to rest.
Watching his small figure, Charles thought of the incident at the amusement park and called out to him, "Wait a minute."
Louis stopped and looked back at him.
"You don't like those thrilling rides at the amusement park, do you?" Charles suddenly asked, his deep gaze fixed on Louis's face, not missing any expression.
Louis paused, not expecting him to ask this.
"If you don't want to play, don't force yourself," Charles noticed the change in his expression and knew his suspicion was correct. "Just be a kid."
"There are many things in the world that we don't like, but we can't avoid them all," Louis's soft voice was firm, his words not sounding like those of a child.
Charles continued to guess, but his words were very direct, "That's true, but you're a kid. If you're scared, you don't have to do it."
"Scared?" Louis looked puzzled, pretending to be calm, which made Charles wonder if he had guessed wrong.
"I don't like it simply because I find those rides boring," Louis didn't like exposing his weaknesses and replied calmly. "Nothing more."
"Really?" Charles continued to probe.
Louis looked at him but didn't respond.
Charles said, "Then why was there so much sweat on the handrail you held?"
"Because you saw wrong," Louis answered calmly.
No matter what he played, Louis was always nervous, scared, and fearful, but he kept observing his surroundings to distract himself.
Louis was sure Charles had said that on purpose.
"Go to bed," Charles temporarily believed Louis's words and naturally changed the subject. "It's getting late."
Louis went upstairs with a complicated and anxious heart.
