Chapter 704 Do You Sound Like an Older Brother?

"No need," Louis refused again.

If he couldn't win over the person he liked with his own abilities, it only meant he didn't like them enough.

Diana continued to act spoiled. "My dear brother."

"I don't have time," Louis, who didn't want Caspian and Diana to be together, said. "If you really want to find out, you can ask Mom and Kevin, or even Nina."

"They can't know," Diana blurted out.

If Kevin and Nina knew about Caspian's situation, they would definitely tell Daphne.

Once Daphne and Benjamin found out about Caspian, they would likely oppose their relationship.

Love was free, but parents still had their own biases.

"Do you really have the heart to see your only sister so worried?" Diana's voice was pitiful, with a hint of tears and complexity in her eyes. "What if one day I get so depressed that I can't smile anymore?"

"Mom and Dad would be worried, and you would definitely feel guilty," Diana continued. "Since that's the case, why not solve the root problem now?"

"Fine," Louis said.

Diana was overjoyed. "You agree?"

"You've been happy and carefree since you were little." Louis exposed her act. "I might as well see what it looks like when you're depressed."

"Listen to yourself, do you sound like a brother?" Diana said angrily.

Seriously, even acting spoiled didn't work after growing up.

"You should know I don't want you to be with Caspian," Louis said bluntly. "I haven't told Mom and Dad about this only because you're my only sister."

"So, you mean I should thank you?" Diana retorted.

"No need to thank me." Louis was actually conflicted. Rationally, he knew he shouldn't help, but he couldn't bear to see Diana upset. "If you really want to find out and don't want Mom and Dad to know, you can ask Noe and Lon. They can help too."

"You know my relationship with Lon," Diana said, slightly troubled.

In the past, Diana might have asked Lon for help, as both Louis and Lon were people she trusted.

But now, there was a layer of romantic feelings between them.

Asking Lon to help investigate Caspian would only make Lon more heartbroken.

As for Noe, Diana didn't want too many people to know about Caspian. Although they grew up together, her relationship with Noe had become rather ordinary over time.

"Louis," Diana still hoped he would help. "Please help me. Can you bear to see these eyes, which look so much like Mom's, filled with tears?"

Diana pleaded, "Please help me, okay?"

"Just this once," Louis finally softened. "Don't come to me about him again."

"Okay!" Diana agreed quickly.

Louis pinched his brow, knowing full well that even though he told her not to come to him next time, if she did, he might still give in just like this time.

"Go to sleep first," Louis didn't start investigating right away and told her directly. "I'll look into it tomorrow."

Diana didn't push, as it was indeed late. "Alright, goodnight."

Louis responded, "Good night."

Diana then hung up the phone.

With Louis's promise, Diana went to sleep peacefully.

She knew that Louis would definitely follow through on his promise, so she didn't worry too much.

The next day, Diana went to work as usual. After reminding Louis not to forget his promise, she focused on her work.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she sat down, Alvin called her to the CEO's office.

Knowing that Caspian had something to discuss with Diana, Alvin left after bringing her in.

Diana looked at Caspian, who was sitting in the chair with a cold demeanor, and asked in her capacity as his personal assistant, "What do you need me for?"

"Starting tomorrow, you don't need to come to work. The secretarial department has decided to downsize, and you're the one being fired," Caspian said, his eyes devoid of emotion, as if he were just a superior. "You will be compensated according to the law."

Seeing Diana remain silent, Caspian asked, "Do you have anything to say?"

"Are you firing me for work reasons or personal reasons?" Diana knew the answer but still wanted to ask.

"Work," Caspian said without changing his expression.

"If it's the company's decision, I will comply." Diana knew there was no point in arguing. "Is there anything else?"

Caspian's eyes showed a hint of surprise, as if he hadn't expected things to go so smoothly.

"Mr. Garcia?" Diana called him softly when he didn't respond.

Caspian said, "No."

After saying "okay," Diana returned to her desk.

Diana showed no unusual emotions and went about her day as usual. She knew that even if she wasn't Caspian's personal assistant, she could still come and go freely at the Lancelot Group.

After all, she had a good relationship with Charles.

Caspian, unaware of Diana's situation, called Alvin into his office about ten minutes after their conversation. "How is she?"

"Are you asking about Diana?" Alvin pretended to be clueless.

Caspian gave him a look.

Alvin immediately answered obediently, "She's fine, but..."

"But what?" Caspian frowned slightly.

"I feel like she's pretending to be okay," Alvin, who wanted to see them together, said. "From what I've observed, she tends to keep her unhappy feelings to herself and doesn't tell anyone."

Caspian's lips pressed into a thin line, and he remained silent.

"Mr. Garcia," Alvin said tentatively.

Caspian's gaze fell on him. "Say what you need to say."

"Actually, Diana came to see me yesterday," Alvin said, following Mark's advice to mix truth with lies. "She asked me if you liked her."

"What did you tell her?" Caspian asked, feeling a bit anxious.

"At first, I didn't say anything, but later, when we talked about the arranged marriage, I couldn't help but say a few words," Alvin said truthfully. "She was very upset when she found out you didn't like her despite knowing about the arranged marriage."

"And..." Alvin paused.

Caspian pressed, "And what?"

"And she dragged me to a bar to drink," Alvin added, emphasizing the key point.
