Chapter 520 The Arrogant Diana

Lon hit up Diana the next day, asking if she wanted to chill.

Diana turned him down, just like before, and they hadn't talked since.

Meanwhile, Diana was having a blast with some neighborhood kids and Eddy. They were having so much fun that when it was time to bounce, Diana didn't want to leave.

"Louis..." Diana watched her friends head home, her big eyes all hopeful. "Can I crash at Emma's for a few more days?"

Louis didn't try to convince her otherwise. He just asked, "What about your friends back home?"

"I want them too!" Diana shot back without missing a beat.

"Alright, let's head home then." Louis grabbed her hand, already packed and ready to go.

Diana left, dragging her feet.

After playing all afternoon, Diana knocked out in the car.

Louis adjusted her child car seat so she could sleep better.

When they got home, Gavin was there to greet them.

Seeing Diana looking bummed after dinner and heading to her room, Gavin asked Louis, "What's up with Diana?"

"She had a spat with Lon," Louis guessed right away.

A few days ago, she was too busy playing to think about it. But now, with no other kids around, Lon was back on her mind.

"She can actually fight with someone?" Gavin was surprised.

"They had a little tiff." Louis didn't go into details. "No biggie."

After saying goodnight to Gavin, he went to his room.

Just as he was about to crash, Diana walked in.

She was in her cute PJs, slowly making her way to him, looking all hesitant. "Louis..."

"What's up?" Louis handed her a jacket.

"Do you think I should go find Lon?" Diana looked all confused and torn.

"Up to you." Louis thought kids' feelings were pure, not like adults. "If you don't want to lose touch, go find him. If you think it's not worth it, then don't."

"I want to stay in touch!" Diana said firmly.

She was just mad that Lon made her choose, even though she had her own friends.

Diana thought for a while, stubborn about who's right and wrong. "But it's not my fault. I don't want to say sorry."

"What do you want to do?" Louis had a hunch but didn't say it.

"Can you say hi to him for me?" Diana asked, her little brain working fast. "Invite him over tomorrow."

"Why?"

"You miss him."

"I don't."

"Then what do I do? It's not our birthday, and Mom and Dad aren't back." Diana was stumped and worried. "I can't just say I want to play with him."

"Come to me when you think of a reason." Louis didn't help her come up with one.

Friendship was something she had to handle herself.

Though at their age, they might forget a playmate after a few days with a new one.

But Louis could tell Lon was kinda special to Diana.

"Louis," Diana begged. "Please help me out."

"I'll help, but you gotta come up with the reason," Louis said, totally spoiling her.

Diana felt more and more frustrated. "I just can't think of one."

Louis was about to say no.

Diana's eyes got all watery, and she started acting all cute and helpless.

"Alright, fine, I'll help you," Louis sighed, pinching his brow. "Go to bed and get some rest. I'll wake you up in the morning."

"Okay." Diana was thrilled. "Thanks, Louis!"

She obediently went back to her room.

As she closed the door, she smiled and waved at Louis.

After making sure she was asleep, Louis closed his door and, after some thought, sent a message to Lon: [We're back home. Wanna hit up the aquarium tomorrow?]

The reply came in seconds: [No.]

Seeing Lon was still up, Louis called him.

Honestly, he didn't want Diana to be so hung up on Lon.

But thinking of her tearful eyes, even knowing it was an act, he couldn't bear it.

"What's up?" Lon sounded kinda grumpy.

Louis leaned back on his bed. "You mad at Diana?"

Lon paused.

Then he denied it, "No."

"Good. But she's mad at you," Louis didn't hesitate to throw Diana under the bus.

Lon sounded confused. "She didn't wanna hang with me; why's she mad at me?"

"If you were at your aunt's, playing with friends there, and Diana called you to come back tomorrow to play with her, if you don't come, don't bother talking to her again. How would you feel?" Louis gave an example.

Lon thought for a moment. If it were him, he'd come back to play with her.

But Diana seemed to love playing, and what he said wasn't very nice.

"She's a bit proud; she really wants to hang with you but doesn't wanna admit it 'cause she thinks she did nothing wrong," Louis explained. "That's why she asked me to hit you up."

"Is she asleep?" Lon asked.

Louis didn't want him calling Diana in the middle of the night, so he coldly said, "Yeah."

Lon said okay and hung up.

Whatever choice he made, Louis wouldn't interfere.

He was just a kid himself, yet he had to solve friendship problems for kids his age.

The next morning, someone rang the doorbell.

Gavin walked out to the yard and saw a little boy about Louis's height standing outside the gate. He recognized him immediately, "Lon?"

Gavin quickly opened the gate and, seeing the small cake in Lon's hand, asked, "Why are you here so early?"

"To see Diana," Lon's voice was all kiddish.

Gavin looked behind him. "Did you come alone?"

"Yeah." Lon nodded.

Gavin was super puzzled.

The distance from Lon's house to here was pretty far. How did such a small kid manage to come here alone?

"Diana's still having breakfast inside." Gavin led him in. "You haven't eaten yet, right? Come in and have some."

As they were talking, they reached the living room.

Diana heard the noise and ran out. Seeing Lon, she was over the moon and ran over. "Lon!"
