Chapter 693 I Should Be the One Asking You This
Caspian stood by the bed, watching her for a long time before tucking her in and leaving.
Lying in the guest room, he couldn't sleep for a long time, his mind filled with the questions Diana asked him when she was drunk and her accusatory tone.
He tried to regain his composure but overestimated his self-control.
Early the next morning.
Having only slept for two or three hours, Caspian got up early.
Even though he appeared cold and distant towards Diana, he took good care of her in his actions.
Like now, Caspian had already prepared breakfast.
When Diana got up and saw it, she was about to say something, but Caspian's cold words came out, "Wash up and eat breakfast. After that, go home."
"Can't I stay here for half a day?" Diana asked.
Thinking about the pile of things in his study, Caspian refused without hesitation, "No."
"Why?" Diana pressed.
"I don't have the habit of letting outsiders stay in my house for long periods," Caspian said harshly, his calm face devoid of warmth.
Diana exposed him, "Didn't you let me stay here last night?"
"Charles has done me a favor, and he asked me to take care of you." Caspian had already thought of an excuse. "Now that you're sober, go home."
"Speaking of which, how did my clothes get changed?" Diana asked knowingly. "You didn't do something to me while I was drunk, did you?"
Diana remembered everything from last night, but what surprised her the most was Caspian pinning her against the door and saying, "You better not do that."
How could someone so calm and gentle say such a thing?
"I'm not interested in you." Caspian's long eyes showed no emotion, his whole demeanor cold. "Your clothes were changed by the girl next door. I didn't touch you."
"Oh."
"You don't believe me?"
"If it were you, would you believe it?" Diana said deliberately. "Anyway, I was drunk and don't remember anything. You can say whatever you want."
"I'll call her over, and you can ask her yourself," Caspian said as he started to walk out.
Diana walked towards the dining table, still in a calm tone. "With your intelligence, it's not impossible to bribe her in advance."
Caspian didn't know how to explain.
"Don't look at me like that, I'm just reasonably suspicious." Diana glanced around.
Caspian didn't like this feeling, and amidst various emotions, he asked, "In your heart, am I that kind of person?"
"Of course not." Diana finally heard the words she was waiting for and praised him, "The Caspian in my heart is someone who doesn't talk much but shows his care through actions. He rarely expresses his feelings, but if he cares about someone, he would protect her with his life."
Caspian paused.
Diana continued, "Of course, the most important thing is that he would never easily abandon his childhood friends because he values relationships more than anyone."
Caspian said nothing and went over to eat breakfast.
"But now it seems, you're very different from the Caspian in my heart," Diana concluded, returning to the main topic. "So it's not wrong for me to be suspicious."
"Do you want me to call the police for you?" Caspian was also angry.
"No need." Diana sat down to eat breakfast. "After all, you're my boss, I'll just trust you for now."
After breakfast, Diana left Caspian's house.
When Diana took a cab back, Charles was just about to come pick her up. Seeing her return, he asked, "How did it go?"
"Seventy percent turned into a hundred percent." Diana walked over and sat with Charles in the yard, basking in the warm sun. "The wooden doll and photo album are on the nightstand, and he admitted that the girlfriend thing was a lie."
But what convinced Diana the most was Caspian's possessive words, "You better not do that."
If he didn't like her, he wouldn't have said that.
"What do you plan to do next?" Charles asked her.
"Get Eddy to come and put on a show." Diana had a good grasp of Caspian's thoughts. "Make him worried."
If Diana wasn't allowed to hug someone else, Caspian would probably follow her secretly when he knew she went out drinking with Eddy.
Then, if the act got more intense, it would be hard for Caspian to hide his feelings.
"But before that, I have to tell him I like him." Diana thought for a moment. "I have to let him be sure of my feelings."
"Didn't you say it last night or this morning?" Charles was slightly curious.
Diana shook her head. "No, the atmosphere wasn't right."
With Caspian's attitude towards her, confessing at that time would probably lead to unexpectable response.
For the first confession, it had to be in a nice restaurant.
They chatted for a while longer.
In the end, Charles acted as the middleman and arranged for the two to meet.
That noon, Diana and Caspian met at a restaurant.
Looking at Diana sitting in front of him, Caspian glanced around and asked, "Where's Charles?"
"He went home to eat," Diana admitted honestly. "I asked him to help arrange this meeting."
Every time Caspian faced her, he had to endure a lot mentally. As usual, he asked her coldly, "Anything you want to tell me?"
"There is something." Diana nodded.
As she said this, the waiter brought the set meal.
This was a couple's restaurant, and Diana had reserved a couple's set meal.
Seeing the scene in front of him, Caspian frowned, a thought that seemed impossible forming in his mind.
"Caspian, I like you." Diana's gaze fell on Caspian's face, confessing without any preamble. "Will you be with me?"
The sudden confession caught Caspian off guard.
Caspian's clean and cold profile still maintained the previous expression, but his eyes were deep and unreadable.
Diana asked again, "Will you?"
"Is this fun for you?" Caspian's voice was colder than usual.
Diana looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Caspian said nothing, stood up, and walked away.
Diana hurriedly chased after him, completely confused. "Wait!" Diana stopped him and asked the question that puzzled her, "Explain what you meant by that."
"I should be asking you that," Caspian's coldness was several degrees lower than usual. "What do you mean by confessing to me when I have a girlfriend? Or do you just like to mess with people?"
