Chapter 264 Charles Appeared

"Ms. Murphy, you like this place?" Michael asked, now in a long camel coat, holding a pink suitcase.

Daphne's eyes locked onto the suitcase. She had a hunch the beef between Michael and Charles had something to do with whoever owned it.

She stayed cool and shot back, "You’ve got illegal firearms and a private army. You know how many years you could get for that?"

"Yeah, I know," Michael shrugged. "So what?"

Daphne frowned. This was a tough spot.

"Sir, he's here," a bodyguard announced.

Michael's lips curled into a smirk. "Bring him in."

Charles walked in, just in a white shirt, looking a bit pale but still radiating that icy vibe.

Their eyes met, but neither said a word.

Once Charles saw Daphne was okay, he turned to Michael. "I'm here. What's your game?"

"Glad you asked," Michael grinned.

Before Charles could respond, a guy next to Daphne pointed a gun at her head.

Charles's eyes narrowed, his aura turning even colder. "Let her go."

"I can do that," Michael said, toying with a knife. "But first, take this knife and cut your left wrist until the blood stains that stone red."

He pointed to a marked spot.

Charles glanced at it. "If I do this, you'll let her go?"

"Yep," Michael nodded.

Charles reached for the knife.

Daphne, catching on, tried to stop him. "Charles, don't!"

The pink suitcase, the wrist-cutting, Sparkle Isle. Daphne pieced it together—Michael was out for revenge over a girl.

"Michael, I know what you're after," Daphne said, seeing a way out. "Isn't this a bit childish?"

"If you think it's childish, you guessed wrong," Michael scoffed. He eyed Charles's hand, still hovering. "I'll count to three. If you don't cut, Daphne gets it."

Charles looked at Daphne. She saw Nina returning from the sea, and a risky plan formed in her mind.

She gave Charles a look, hoping he got it.

"Three," Michael started counting.

Daphne kept signaling with her eyes.

Charles finally got it. He grabbed the knife from Michael.

In a flash, he flipped it and held it to Michael's neck.

"Sir!" the bodyguards shouted.

Michael raised a hand to stop them, his smile turning wild. He rubbed the suitcase handle and sneered, "You think this scares me? Charles, you're still so naive."

Michael spoke slowly, not caring about the knife at his neck. "Break Daphne's leg," he ordered.

"If anyone touches her, I'll kill him," Charles warned, pressing the knife deeper.

But they didn't stop. They moved like robots, aiming their guns at Daphne's leg.

In a flash, Daphne disarmed one of them, kicked him down, and before anyone could react, she shoved Kayla off the cliff, shouting to Nina below, "Get her safely back to Gedser!"

"What about you?" Nina called up.

She hadn't expected Daphne to be K.

When she got on the yacht and left the signal-blocked area, she had planned to check where K was.

Unexpectedly, she saw the letter from her teacher.

At that moment, she realized Daphne was K, her teacher.

Remembering what Michael had said, she immediately returned to save her.

But now Daphne had pushed Kayla to her, and she hadn't come down!

She called out to Daphne again, but only got Daphne's back in response.

Nina pulled Kayla out of the water. The yacht was still moving. She looked at the people on the cliff and finally shouted, "Daphne!"

Daphne didn't look back. She knew she couldn't leave.

If either she or Charles left, Michael would order them to be shot.

But Kayla had nothing to do with this, and Nina had helped Michael. Michael would let them go for Nina's sake.

In fact, Michael did think that way. He had considered taking Kayla with him to die, but now that she was gone, so be it.

"I should have known you were K," Michael's smile widened. "You should be glad you didn't leave just now, or you'd be dead."

"Michael, if you have your men stand down, you might get a lighter sentence," Daphne said, "Nothing is worth dragging so many people to die with you."

Michael chuckled, a deep laugh coming from his chest. He seemed very happy.

"Sentenced?" Michael said, "No one can sentence me."

Daphne frowned.

Michael allowed Charles to hold the knife to his neck. "You better be careful with that knife. If you accidentally kill me, the whole island will blow up."

"What did you do?" Daphne felt a bad premonition.

"I didn't do much," Michael said slowly, "I just planted a lot of explosives on this island. If my vital signs stop, they'll trigger the switch."

Daphne truly thought he was extremely crazy.

Michael continued chatting nonchalantly, "Charles, do you know why I made you sit by the sea all night?"

"Because of Paisley." Michael finally showed some emotion. "The night her boyfriend was sentenced to death, she wore a thin white dress and sat by the sea all night."

Charles didn't understand what this had to do with him. He was stalling for time, waiting for help to arrive.

"You are the one responsible for all this." Michael glanced at him, the knife drawing a bit of blood from his neck, but he didn't care.

"You reported to the police; you provided the clues." Michael accused. "You got her boyfriend killed, and you got her killed too."
