Chapter 422 This Is the Best Gift I've Ever Received in My Life
Daphne got off Benjamin and sat on the couch, speaking to him very thoughtfully, "I'm starting to think that what Emma and Zoey said before makes sense. I'm suddenly a bit worried about my future."
"Worried about what?" Benjamin asked her.
"I'm afraid you'll sell me out, and I'll still be here counting the money for you," Daphne said earnestly, without a trace of humor.
"Rest assured. Even if I sell myself, I won't sell you," Benjamin said earnestly, pinching her cheek.
Daphne looked at his face suspiciously but couldn't see anything.
With Benjamin's ability to deceive and manipulate, starting a business from scratch would lead to swift success.
"Don't believe me?" Benjamin asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I believe you," Daphne replied without hesitation.
Benjamin was surprised by her answer.
Daphne added seriously, "My worth is quite high. Even if you wanted to sell me, no one could afford it."
Benjamin's dark eyes showed a hint of amusement.
That answer was indeed irrefutable.
They spent almost the entire day together.
In the evening, Daphne found an excuse to go out and buy something.
She knew very well that with Benjamin's personality, he would definitely take her directly to his parents' house tomorrow, not giving her a chance to buy anything. But she didn't feel comfortable letting the bodyguards buy it.
After all, it was a gift for Benjamin's parents, so it was better to choose it herself.
Daphne was right. Benjamin didn't intend to let her buy any gift.
Whether it was him, Henry, or Anouk, as long as Daphne came, they would be happy. The gifts didn't matter at all.
The next morning, after a simple preparation, Daphne and Benjamin went out.
As usual, Benjamin took the car keys to unlock the car, but Daphne spoke up before he could start the car, "I'll drive today."
Benjamin handed her the keys.
"I mean, I'll drive my own car," Daphne said, taking out her key. "Ever since we got together, I haven't driven it in a long time."
"Alright," Benjamin agreed, putting his keys back in his pocket.
Daphne felt relieved and went to the garage to get her car.
After driving a distance from the villa area, Benjamin, sitting in the passenger seat, naturally asked, "Are you hiding something from me?"
"What?" Daphne asked.
"The car," Benjamin said.
"What do you mean?" Daphne asked, pretending to be confused.
Indeed, she insisted on driving her car because it had all the gifts she had bought the previous night. Without it, she wouldn't be able to bring the gifts.
"Nothing." Benjamin saw through it but didn't expose her, guessing in his mind. "It's a long way back. Let me know if you get tired of driving."
"Okay," Daphne responded.
At eleven o'clock, they arrived.
Seeing her lingering in the car, Benjamin walked over and opened the door for her. "What's wrong?"
"I have something to take care of," Daphne said, a bit scared as it was her first time hiding something from Benjamin. "Go in first, I'll be right there."
"Daphne," Benjamin called.
"Hmm?" Daphne looked up at him.
"Are you still holding a grudge from yesterday?" Benjamin asked.
"What?" Daphne was confused, unsure of what he meant.
"I promised to bring you home. If I go in alone, won't my parents kick me out with a stick?" Benjamin said slowly, with a hint of teasing. "What are you up to?"
Daphne tried to explain, "I'm not..."
"If not, then come in. You can't be afraid to meet the parents," Benjamin insisted.
"I need to touch up my makeup," Daphne said, making up an excuse.
"I'll wait for you," Benjamin said, making Daphne silent.
At that moment, she realized that no matter what she said, Benjamin wouldn't go in alone.
She took out the car keys, got out of the car slowly, and walked to Benjamin.
Benjamin reached for her hand, but Daphne avoided it. "Wait, I still have something to get."
She then went to get the gifts she had put in the car last night, including some essential supplements and other valuable items.
"I just thought that since we're visiting your parents, we should bring some gifts," Daphne explained to Benjamin. "I just don't know if they'll like them."
She had considered asking Benjamin, but she knew he would insist that nothing needed to be prepared.
So she could only choose suitable gifts based on her impression from their last meeting.
"Dummy," Benjamin said, poking her forehead.
Daphne's dark eyes were full of confusion.
Benjamin took the gifts from her and held her hand to give her warmth. "Didn't I tell you that as long as you come, they'll be very happy?"
"You treat me well, and I want you to feel that I value you," Daphne replied.
Benjamin smiled, squeezed her palm, and led her inside.
Henry and Anouk were as enthusiastic as last time.
Upon learning that Daphne had purchased gifts for them, their smiles broadened and they showered her with praise.
Daphne knew they would be happy if she came, but if she brought gifts, they would be even happier.
"I didn't know what you would like, so I just picked some things myself." Daphne chatted with them more proactively than last time.
"Thank you, Daphne," Anouk said happily. "This is the best gift I've ever received."
Benjamin and Henry looked over at the same time.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow and said slowly, "Last time, you said the gift I gave you was your favorite."
"Nonsense, her favorite gift is the one I gave her," Henry retorted, determined to win this argument. "Look, she's still wearing it."
At this point, Henry suddenly paused.
He stared at the new bracelet on Anouk's wrist, his brow furrowing as he said, "Changed it?"
"You..." Henry pointed at her wrist, his words stuck.
"I've worn the bracelet you gave me for thirty years. It's time for a change." Anouk liked the gift from Daphne and spoke to Henry kindly, "Daphne's gift is the one I had my eye on before, so I wanted to try it on."
Henry was suddenly unhappy.
Daphne was a bit stunned. Did she accidentally ruin their relationship?
"Why are you scowling? You're scaring Daphne," Anouk scolded, holding Daphne's hand gently. "Am I only allowed to wear the bracelet you gave me for the rest of my life?"
"That's not what I meant," Henry explained.
"Then what do you mean?" Anouk shot back.
"I..."
"I think you just don't want me to wear nice jewelry because you think I'm too old for it," Anouk huffed, her aura suddenly strong.
