Chapter 635 No Interest in Those Who Don't Love
"No what?" Diana asked, her voice playful and cute.
"No means no," Louis replied, not wanting to say something he might regret later. "That's all there is to it."
"Didn't you just say you don't need a girlfriend?" Diana teased him.
Louis gave her a blank look. Diana stared back.
Two minutes later, Diana gave up. She turned off the camera, puffed her cheeks in frustration, and huffed, "You always cheat."
"Do your homework," Louis reminded her.
Diana pouted and grabbed her homework from the desk. As she opened it, she said, "You're not as nice as Lon."
"Yeah, Lon's the nicest," Louis said, not really caring.
Diana's face lit up, typical of a carefree kid. "Of course!"
"Then remember to talk to Lon about getting married when you grow up," Louis said, his voice soft but indifferent. "Marry him."
"I don't need you to tell me; I'll go anyway," Diana said happily.
Lon was so great, she definitely wanted to marry him.
Louis looked at her smug face and asked, "If someone even more handsome than Lon shows up, will you still be so sure?"
"Who?" Diana blurted out.
At that moment, Louis realized how childish he had been to think Lon might become his brother-in-law, considering that as kids, the chances were almost zero.
"Where's the person more handsome than Lon?" Diana pressed.
"I don't know," Louis said, not wanting to chat anymore. He picked up his book and started studying. "Do your homework."
"Louis," Diana called.
Louis stayed silent.
Diana kept calling him.
After several attempts and no response from Louis, who kept his cool demeanor, she finally started doing her homework.
Diana was playful but also very focused. When she played, she was all in, and when she studied, she was completely absorbed.
For the next hour or so, Diana diligently did her homework until Daphne came up to call her down for dinner. She obediently went down with Louis.
During dinner, Diana seemed a bit distracted.
Daphne, always in tune with her kids' emotions, thought she was upset because Charles had left. "Are you upset because Charles left?"
Diana nodded, then quickly shook her head as if she had thought of something.
Daphne and Benjamin were both slightly puzzled. For the first time, they didn't understand what Diana meant.
"Mom," Diana called out, distracted yet hopeful.
"What's wrong?" Daphne asked.
"Louis said there's someone more handsome than him and Lon," Diana was fixated on this. "Do you know where he is?"
Louis paused briefly and then said, "I was just speaking hypothetically."
Diana's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? Is there someone more handsome than you in this world?"
Louis sighed and, trying to change the subject, said, "Eat."
Diana nodded and quietly resumed eating. But she was still very curious, was there really someone more handsome than Louis in this world?
While Diana was preoccupied with her little worries, things were much more complicated for Charles.
When he got back to Ivrea City, it was already 11:30 PM. Seeing that Hayden and Laura were asleep, he headed to his room to wash up and crash.
When Charles came out of the bathroom, walked through the closet, and approached the bed, he noticed the blanket was all bunched up.
He had a hunch. "Peyton?"
No response from the bed.
Charles walked over and lifted the blanket to see if it was her. But as soon as he touched the blanket, the person on the bed quickly sat up, tossing the blanket aside.
"It's me," Peyton said, now visible under the light.
Peyton was wearing a sexy black camisole, her delicate and beautiful face slightly blushing, looking like someone who could easily lead someone astray. Anyone else might have been captivated by her charm.
However, Charles's eyes turned from their usual indifference to icy cold. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you," Peyton said, her red lips parting slightly.
"It's late, go back to sleep," Charles handed her the phone she had placed by the bed, his eyes showing no emotion.
Peyton was a bit angry. "Charles!"
Charles looked at her indifferently.
Peyton's ears turned red, and she was a bit angry. "I've gone this far, and you still have no reaction? Are you not good in bed?"
"Get out," Charles said, trying to keep his cool for Laura's sake.
"I won't!" Peyton defied him. Having grown up surrounded by admirers and love letters, Charles's lack of reaction was driving her nuts!
"Suit yourself," Charles said, looking away indifferently. He grabbed his phone and walked out in his robe. "I'm leaving."
Peyton moved to block him. The neckline of her clothes was quite low, and her movements made her look even more enticing.
Charles frowned, grabbed a new piece of clothing from the side, and tossed it at her. "Put it on."
Peyton hesitated. She didn't want to put it on; she wanted to seduce him again. But remembering what had just happened, the usually confident Peyton felt a pang of shyness and reluctantly put it on, feeling uncomfortable."Why are you still not interested after I've done all this?" Peyton zipped up the casual wear to her chin, her eyes filled with stubbornness and purity.
Charles bluntly told her, "What exactly are you hoping for from me?"
"Just..." Peyton stopped mid-sentence, feeling embarrassed, but still stubbornly said, "The kind of interest between a man and a woman."
"Sex?" Charles asked.
"Yes!" Peyton confirmed.
"I'm not interested in one-night stands," Charles said, hoping to deter her.
Peyton had anticipated this outcome, but hearing it firsthand felt like daggers cutting into her heart.
Charles said indifferently, "Go to sleep early."
"Wait!" Peyton called out to him, unwilling to give up.
Charles paused, his back to her.
Peyton asked a soul-piercing question, "Are you not interested in me, or are you not interested in anyone other than Daphne?"
"I'm not interested in anyone I don't love," Charles said, his words cutting deep.
"I understand," Peyton said softly.
