Chapter 645 He Knows His Medical Skills
Richard was stunned and said, "What do you mean?"
"You don't know?" Benjamin was a bit surprised.
A sudden bad premonition appeared in Richard's heart, and his usually calm face showed a bit of emotional fluctuation. "What should I know?"
"Brian was in a car accident a couple of days ago and was sent to the hospital. He's still in the ICU," Daphne explained briefly what she knew. "According to the doctors, if he doesn't wake up in the next couple of days, there might be no hope."
Upon hearing this, Richard's mind went blank, and an indescribable pain began to spread from his heart.
"You really didn't know?" Daphne was also surprised.
Logically, if something happened to Brian, the first person to be contacted would be Richard.
Given Richard's close relationship with Brian and his exceptional medical expertise, he would undoubtedly be the first person they would inform.
"Which hospital is he in?" Richard immediately stood up, feeling his heart in disarray for the first time.
Daphne and Benjamin told him.
After thanking them, Richard grabbed his car keys and left.
Seeing his disordered steps and mindset, a mix of emotions flickered across Daphne's face. "Did they have a fight?"
Daphne didn't know much about the matters between Richard and Brian, only that they had a lot of entanglements.
Over the years, Brian had always been persistently clinging to Richard. They appeared together in most situations, so why now?
"Judging by Richard's appearance when he arrived, it wasn't just an ordinary fight," Benjamin speculated, watching the direction Richard left. "It might be a complete fallout."
Daphne blinked, a fallout?
Richard's mind was in chaos.
Reflecting on Brian's recent car accident and realizing he had been oblivious to it, a deep sense of guilt washed over him.
Had Richard not uttered those words, Brian wouldn't have left. And if Brian hadn't left, the accident would never have happened. The more he thought about it, the more he felt guilty.
After arriving at the hospital, Richard immediately asked about Brian's ICU and the attending doctor. He needed to see how badly Brian was injured and why he hadn't woken up yet.
In response to Richard's inquiry, the nurse asked, "What is your relationship with Mr. Harris?"
"Friend," Richard introduced himself, "Richard."
"Sorry, we don't have a patient named Brian here," the nurse said directly.
Richard frowned. How could that be?
Daphne and Benjamin couldn't have lied to him.
"Please check again," Richard's bad premonition grew stronger. "My friend said he's in the ICU of this hospital."
The nurse looked troubled, and at that moment, Charles appeared.
Seeing Richard's loss of composure, Charles said, "Come with me."
Richard turned toward the voice and immediately followed Charles.
Charles didn't take Richard to see Brian but led him to the hospital rooftop.
Richard, anxious but trying to stay calm, asked, "Where's Brian?"
"How did you find out?" Charles asked.
"Daphne told me," Richard quickly answered, then asked, "How is he now? Which doctor operated on him? Can you take me to see him?"
"He didn't want you to know," Charles said.
Richard frowned slightly.
"When I got the call and came to the hospital, he was already in the operating room, covered in blood," Charles said coldly, his chiseled face showing no emotion. "Do you know what he told me?"
"What?" Richard asked.
"He said if he didn't make it, not to tell you, and not to let you know," Charles's deep eyes met Richard's. "He also said if you asked, to tell you he went back to the Harris family."
Richard's heart trembled. If it had pained him to speak harshly to Brian before, now it felt like he was being suffocated. How could Brian be so foolish?
"I don't know what misunderstanding exists between you both, but I think lies are the least appropriate," Charles said, his lips slightly pursed. "Since you're here, I should tell you his condition."
"It's my fault," Richard felt regret for the first time.
"Do you want to know his condition?" Charles, still in his well-tailored suit, looked handsome and indifferent.
"Yes," Richard said.
No matter how badly Brian was injured, Richard would save him.
Charles took him to the doctor and told him about Brian's condition.
"I can save him," Richard said confidently after reviewing the medical records, tests, and injuries.
"No one can save him," the doctor said, his tone complex. "The patient has no will to live. When he was brought into the operating room, he kept muttering 'I'm sorry.'"
"Where is he?" Richard forced himself to stay calm.
Whether Brian had the will to live or not, Richard wouldn't allow him to die. He just couldn't die.
"I'll take you," the doctor said, glancing at Charles.
A moment later.
Richard changed into scrubs and followed the doctor inside.
As he saw Brian lying there, wrapped in bandages and connected to various machines, Richard's heart clenched.
They didn't stay long, just did a brief check, and then came out.
Outside the ICU.
The doctor told Richard, "The patient's body can't withstand another surgery."
"It can," Richard replied firmly. "I'll write the surgical plan, and you just need to assist me."
Richard wouldn't let Brian die. He just couldn't die.
The doctor's eyes were complex, but he eventually agreed.
During this process, Charles talked to Richard once. "Even if you restore his health, what if he still has no will to live?"
"I'll give him the will to live," Richard said, realizing some things through this incident.
Charles continued, "Deception?"
Richard replied, "No."
"If Brian really dies, you will..." Charles began, his lips slightly parted.
"Charles," Richard's usually indifferent eyes were now cold and distant, his tone no longer casual. "I don't want to hear such discouraging words at this time. I'll make sure Brian is okay."
He was confident in his medical skills.
Even if Brian wanted to die, he would still have to ask permission from his scalpel.
Charles acknowledged and left.
That night, Richard stayed at the hospital, reviewing Brian's tests, surgical procedures, and subsequent data.
