Chapter 384 Let Me Find You a New Boyfriend
"Do it or gouge your eyes out," Gavin said seriously, not hesitating for a second. "A man must keep his word!"
"Then keep being the CEO of the Murphy Group," Benjamin replied with a teasing grin.
Gavin looked confused. "What are you talking about?"
Benjamin pulled out his phone and played a recording from the night before.
"Gavin, do you want Daphne to suffer?"
"No."
"Are you willing to let her be tired?"
"No."
"Then how about you keep managing the Murphy Group?"
"Okay!"
Gavin was stunned. When did this happen? He had no memory of it.
"Daphne," Gavin groaned, feeling betrayed. "I'll find you a new boyfriend. This one's no good!"
Gavin couldn't believe Benjamin had set him up! How could he be so heartless, especially since he was Daphne's brother? It was too much!
Daphne was also surprised. "When did you record this?"
"Before I took him to his room last night," Benjamin said, fiddling with his phone.
People were selfish. Benjamin wanted Daphne to have an easier time, so Gavin had to take the hit.
Gavin felt really upset.
"Benjamin and Daphne want you to manage the company for your own good," Lydia tried to comfort him, though it didn't help much. "You can use your skills there. It's tiring, but you'll gain fame and fortune. It's worth it."
"Then you manage it," Gavin snapped.
Lydia shook her head. "No way, it's too exhausting."
"And you think it's not exhausting for me?" Gavin retorted.
"You have to bear it. After all, you don't have the best brother in the world," Lydia said, batting her eyes cutely.
Gavin's temper cooled. Fine, he'd pamper his sister. After all, he was the best brother in the world.
"Let me be clear, even if I am the best brother, once you two get married and have kids, one of you must take over the company," Gavin said to Daphne and Benjamin. "Otherwise, I'll gouge my eyes out!"
In a few years, once Daphne and Benjamin had kids, he would definitely quit.
Daphne, Lydia, and Benjamin were all speechless.
Gavin continued sternly, "What are you looking at? Did you hear me?"
"We'll talk about it then," Daphne said calmly.
HorizonTech Group was stable now, and there wouldn't be much to do in the future.
If Gavin really didn't want to manage the Murphy Group, Daphne would take over.
But for now, he was clearly just joking.
"What do you mean? If you don't give me a definite answer today, I'll take your boyfriend to my house," Gavin pretended to be fierce. "You won't see each other for months."
"If you can do that, I'll take over the company right now," Daphne replied, challenging him.
Not even Gavin, or Daphne and Evan together, could handle Benjamin. She really couldn't beat him.
Gavin took a long stride to Benjamin and whispered, "Come home with me now, and I'll tell you about Daphne's childhood and help you deal with Alexander and the others."
Benjamin didn't respond. He knew winning over her family was something he had to do himself.
"I'll tell you what she likes," Gavin tried again.
"I already know everything she likes," Benjamin replied. "We've just started dating. It's not worth being apart for months for what you're offering."
Gavin's face fell. Why was Benjamin so hard to trick?
"Alright, just go back and manage the company," Lydia said. "As your sister, I'll support you mentally."
"Go away," Gavin snapped.
Seeing it was hopeless, Gavin gave up. He'd already decided that as soon as Daphne's kid could walk, he'd be outta there.
Around noon, Daphne messaged Mark about Charles. Mark gave the same answer as yesterday.
Learning Charles still wouldn't be back today, Daphne told Benjamin. She was a bit worried but didn't press further since Mark was there.
Just after replying to Daphne, Mark got a call from Brian. Hearing Charles was about to wake up, he rushed to the base.
When Mark arrived, Charles was still out cold.
"If nothing goes wrong, he should wake up in about half an hour," Brian said, looking scholarly in his white coat. "Aren't you going to call Daphne?"
"No need," Mark replied.
"Really?" Brian asked.
"Mr. Lancelot told me not to tell Ms. Murphy," Mark said bluntly.
Brian rubbed the documents in his hand. "Is he still planning to deceive Daphne?"
Mark didn't respond. He didn't know what Charles was thinking. But if Charles regained his old memories and personality, Mark would still argue with him.
Half an hour later, all of Charles's data was stable.
"Alright," Brian said, relieved. "If nothing goes wrong, his memory should be fully restored. Let's go see him."
Brian and Mark went to the medical room. Brian removed all the equipment from Charles.
Mark watched for a while but didn't see Charles wake up. "Brian, why hasn't Mr. Lancelot woken up yet?"
Brian frowned. According to the data, he should have woken up by now.
"Charles," Brian called out.
Charles lay there, eyes closed, breathing steadily.
Mark was worried something might have gone wrong.
"You wait outside," Brian said, examining Charles. "I'll check him."
Mark stepped out but intended to watch through the glass window. As soon as he did, Brian pressed a switch, locking the door and sealing the window.
Mark couldn't see anything.
Brian sat on a chair, legs crossed, exuding a gentle aura. "Stop pretending. I know you're awake."
Charles slowly opened his eyes, filled with desolation and loneliness.
"Mark said you told him not to inform Daphne about your memory recovery," Brian said. "Are you still planning to deceive her?"
