Chapter 419 Can We Not Talk About It
Charles gave Rex a suspicious look, his brow furrowing slightly. "Really?" he asked.
Over the years, Rex hadn't dated much, nor had he mentioned liking any girl.
Could it be that he really liked men?
Rex suddenly felt guilty. He wanted to firmly say yes, but he was afraid that once he said it, he couldn't take it back.
It was clear that Charles took his words seriously.
"When did this happen?" Charles asked, his voice deep and serious.
"What?" Rex asked, a bit out of sync.
Charles' gaze scrutinized him as he asked, "When did you realize you liked men?"
"Well..." Rex was at a loss for words, stammering for a while before finally mumbling, "I'm not really sure."
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Charles asked slowly.
Rex quickly denied it without thinking, "No."
If he did, that would be a problem. He was a normal man who only liked girls.
"Ever dated?" Charles asked again.
Rex shook his head in disagreement. "No."
"Do you have someone you like?" Charles pressed.
Rex initially wanted to deny it but knew Charles would arrange a blind date for him if he did.
After some thought, he decisively lied, "Yes."
"Who?" Charles asked.
"That's my private life," Rex protested, looking for excuses. "Do I have to tell you?"
"Sooner or later, Mom and Dad will find out," Charles replied, clearly worried. "They might not strongly oppose it, but Grandpa will never accept it."
"It's fine." Rex didn't care at all. After all, he didn't really like men, so it didn't matter.
Charles noticed his attitude, his brow furrowing. For the first time, he called his name so seriously, "Rex."
"What?" Rex replied.
"Are you just playing around?" Charles asked.
"How could that be? Am I that kind of person?" Rex denied.
"Tell me the truth." Charles said, more severe than ever.
'If you really like someone, how could you not care whether your family accepts it or not?' Charles thought.
Rex's attitude was completely different from his usual serious and responsible demeanor.
"I promise you, no matter who I like, I will take it seriously." Rex realized his earlier reaction had been too casual.
"Don't tell Mom and Dad about this for now. I'll find a chance to talk to them," Charles said word by word, feeling a bit complicated. "I'll let you know after I talk to them."
"Okay," Rex agreed, completely relieved. If nothing unexpected happened, Charles, Hayden, and Laura wouldn't set him up on blind dates anymore.
"Since you're sure you like..." Charles paused here, then continued, "Don't mess with girls anymore, and also."
"What?" Rex asked, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Behave yourself," Charles warned.
"Don't worry!" Rex promised.
He made all sorts of promises.
Charles responded with a hum, his face showing more gravity and complexity than usual.
He never expected Rex to like men. Who influenced him?
After their conversation, Charles went to find Hayden and Laura.
Hayden and Laura assumed Charles would discuss Rex's blind dates with other girls, yet he surprised them by halting them.
When Charles asked them not to set Rex up, Laura was puzzled and thought she had misheard. "Are you serious?"
"Yes," Charles said straightforwardly, without hiding anything. "He's not in a good state right now. Forcing him to go on blind dates would be unfair to those girls."
Laura replied, "It's just a blind date, not necessarily a relationship. It's just making friends."
Many young people now engaged in blind dates, often leading to new friendships and shared experiences.
"Better not." Charles stopped them.
After exchanging a glance with Hayden, Laura blurted out, "Are you hiding something from me?"
How should he respond to this?
"Could it be that Rex likes men?" Laura guessed.
"How did you know?" Charles asked, surprised.
Laura and Hayden looked puzzled.
Laura maintained her usual elegance, but her eyes revealed a hint of complexity. "Does he really like men?"
"Yes," Charles answered truthfully.
"Top or bottom?"
"What?" Charles asked, looking puzzled, unsure of what Laura meant.
Laura was worried, feeling something was off. "Why don't you talk to him? See if you can make him like girls again."
"I already talked to him," Charles said slowly, as serious as ever. "Give him some time to think. Until he's sure, don't set him up on blind dates."
"Okay," Laura agreed.
Hayden glanced at both of them.
Then he said, "Do you really believe he likes men?"
Laura and Charles didn't answer, waiting for him to continue.
Hayden explained, "In my opinion, saying he likes men is just an excuse to avoid blind dates," Hayden said calmly, having seen through everything. "If you don't believe me, just check his social circle."
If he really liked men, there would be clues. Hayden didn't believe Rex liked men.
Laura blinked her eyes, thinking.
Charles had no experience with this kind of thing. When he saw Rex's embarrassed admission that he liked men, he didn't think much of it.
Rex had appeared normal throughout his life, including enjoying romantic movies with both male and female leads.
"I'll find out," Charles responded immediately. "I'll give you an answer within a week."
"Okay," Hayden replied.
After the conversation ended, Charles got up and went back to his room.
Laura was still worried, her eyes full of complexity. "What if Rex really likes men?"
"Then we'll beat him until he likes women," Hayden said, snorting.
"You can't do that," Laura said quickly.
"Don't worry too much. Let's wait for Charles to investigate," Hayden said, his eyes warm and comforting. "I think there's a ninety percent chance he's normal."
"I hope so." Laura was the most concerned about the children's feelings. "Charles' relationship is in trouble, and he won't be able to enter a new one anytime soon. If Rex really likes men, Marcus won't accept it."
If Charles were still with Daphne, it would be fine.
After all, Marcus liked Daphne.
With Daphne around, even if Rex liked men, Marcus wouldn't mind too much.
