Chapter 571 Offline Meeting

Jason: [Hey, it's no biggie if you get rejected. Just wait for the next person you like.]

"I'm so done with you. You sound just like the guy I have a crush on," Elara snapped, letting out all her bottled-up frustration.

Jesse froze, phone in hand. Did he just blow his cover?

Realizing this was his only backup account, he quickly typed: [If what I said upset you, I take it back.]

Elara laughed. What an idiot.

She fiddled with her phone, rolled her eyes, and sent a voice message, "Are you good-looking?"

Jason: [Not bad.]

Elara pushed, "So, you're not good-looking."

Jason: [A lot of people say I am, but I think I'm just average.]

"Send me a pic. If you're cute, I won't delete you. If not, you're gone," Elara said, still using voice messages.

Jesse's face twisted in thought. No way he could send his own photo.

He knew if he did, Elara would block him in a heartbeat.

After some thinking, Jesse found a photo online of someone who kinda looked like him and sent it.

Elara saw the pic and clicked her tongue.

Jesse lied, huh?

Elara decided to mess with him, saying, "You're pretty cute. Wanna date me? I'm super bored right now."

Jason: [Aren't you getting married?]

"Doesn't matter. My fiancé has a bunch of girlfriends, a new one every week," Elara said, trying to provoke him. "I should learn from him. If you don't mind, we can have an online thing and meet up when the time's right."

She sent the voice message and waited.

Elara was just trying to get under Jesse's skin. She'd never actually do something like that.

Jesse was confused. He replayed Elara's voice messages, making sure it was really her.

Why would she say stuff like that? He thought she was a good person.

After hesitating for a long time, Jesse finally replied: [Are you asking me to be your side guy?]

Elara grinned, imagining Jesse's face right now, "Yep."

Jesse stood up, phone in hand, ready to have a serious talk with Elara. How could a good girl like her think like this?

But he stopped.

If he went to her, she'd know this account was his.

"If you don't want to, I won't push you," Elara said in another voice message, "Doesn't matter if it's you or someone else."

After sending it, Elara felt a bit proud of herself for saying all that.

Jason: [This is wrong. You can't let yourself go bad just because others are.]

"You might not believe it, but before today, I was a good, sensible girl, totally into the guy I've liked for over ten years," Elara said, taking the chance to confess and spin a story, "But I failed to confess today."

Elara kept going, "Since the guy I like doesn't like me back, I don't care anymore. Time for a change."

Jesse's eyes darkened. Was it because of him?

After thinking it over, he sent a message: [Can we meet?]

"Sure," Elara replied, "I'll book a room and send you the hotel info later."

Jesse's fingers froze, and his heart sank.

Elara knew this would hit Jesse hard, but she had to do it.

Jesse was stubborn. If she didn't push him, he might never confess his feelings.

Elara didn't want to waste years in limbo.

She called to book a room, then changed into a stylish, slightly sexy outfit and did her makeup.

Luckily, it was almost summer, so she wasn't cold dressed like this.

Harry and Zara frowned when they saw her. Harry asked, "Where are you going?"

"On a date," Elara replied.

Harry and Zara looked puzzled.

A date?

They didn't press further, assuming Elara was meeting friends. As she changed shoes to leave, they reminded her to stay safe.

Elara slipped on a pair of flats, grabbed her car keys, and left.

If she weren't worried about the driver telling Harry and Zara she was going to a hotel, she would have worn heels and had the driver take her. Now she had to drive herself and change shoes later.

At 8 PM sharp, Elara arrived at the five-star hotel she had booked.

She parked, changed into the heels she had brought, got off the car, and sent Jesse the address before heading to the room.

To look her best for Jesse, she chose a specific makeup and outfit style.

Today, Elara ditched her usual lively and cute look for a mature, alluring vibe.

Her goal was to provoke Jesse and make him regret his choice.

Half an hour later, there was a knock on the door.

Elara checked the smart door viewer, saw it was Jesse, and opened the door with a smile.

Jesse was still figuring out what to say when the door opened.

He instinctively looked up and was stunned by Elara's sexy and glamorous appearance.

He had never seen her like this before.

"Jesse?" Elara pretended to be surprised, frowning slightly.

Jesse didn't know how to describe his feelings, extremely complicated. "Why the change in style?"

"To forget the past, I have to let go of old things. Changing my style is the first step," Elara explained, keeping a cool demeanor. "Do you need something? If not, please leave. I'm waiting for someone."

"Who are you waiting for?" Jesse asked.

"My future boyfriend," Elara replied.

Jesse deliberately asked, "Willie?"

"He's my future husband," Elara said, thinking Jesse was quite good at pretending, "Not a boyfriend."

Jesse's eyes darkened, and he stepped inside, his aura becoming even colder.
