Chapter 252 Are You Already Starting to Write Your Will?
Mark quickly went to help Charles.
"Wait for me, I'll be right there," Charles said, his heart in turmoil.
"Listen to me first," Daphne called him to clarify the plan. "Don't rush."
Charles's heart was pounding. "Go ahead."
"I won't be in any danger if I'm taken. The person is targeting you." Daphne helped him clear his thoughts. "Once I'm taken, he'll definitely contact you to come rescue me."
She hadn't expected things to escalate so quickly.
She didn't know what that person was thinking.
"You can't be taken." Charles was afraid something would happen to her.
"I have to be taken; it's the only way to achieve my goal," Daphne explained her entire plan to Charles, "But I hope you remember one thing."
Charles said, "What?"
Daphne said, "Trust me."
Charles was silent.
Daphne looked at the three plans he had laid out, feeling a bit heavy-hearted. "I know it's hard for you, but I hope you follow what I told you and always trust me."
"Will you be in danger?" Charles asked.
"No," Daphne answered straightforwardly, "But that person might give you false information to threaten you. I hope you don't compromise."
Charles's thoughts were in chaos.
Already feeling unwell due to a high fever, hearing this made him even more worried.
It wasn't that he didn't trust Daphne.
He didn't trust the person behind Kayla.
Daphne asked, "Charles, are you listening?"
Charles replied, "Yes."
Daphne asked, "Can you trust me?"
Charles said, "I trust you."
"All you need to do is confront that person on the surface and buy me two days. I'll arrange everything else. Kevin, Evan, and my other friends will support me," Daphne tried to explain clearly.
Charles's throat felt dry, and he answered with difficulty, "Okay."
"Trust me," Daphne repeated.
Charles replied, "Okay."
Charles didn't know how he ended the call.
Daphne would be taken, and he couldn't do anything.
He wanted to stop it, but that would ruin Daphne's plan. If he didn't stop it, what if something happened to Daphne?
Thinking about this, Charles felt his head was in a mess.
After much deliberation, he took out his phone, found a number, and hesitated for a moment before dialing.
After a few rings, the person on the other end answered in a teasing tone, "Mr. Lancelot? Why are you calling me suddenly?"
Charles asked, "Does your previous offer still stand?"
The person uttered, "Of course."
"If you help me with one thing, I'll agree to your previous request." Charles's eyes darkened, and his expression was more serious than ever. "But if you fail, our contract is void."
"No problem," the person on the other end agreed readily. "Tell me what you need."
Charles mentally apologized to Daphne and told the person his request and purpose.
The person agreed quickly.
The call ended.
Charles felt the phone was burning.
He couldn't tell if it was the content of the call or his hand that was too hot.
"Sir." Mark felt that Charles's expression was a bit unfamiliar.
"Call Mr. Nelson over," Charles said immediately, his eyes dark. Have him come as soon as possible."
Mark didn't know what Charles was planning but went to contact Justin Nelson.
Half an hour later.
Justin arrived at the hospital room.
Seeing Charles hospitalized, he was surprised. "Are you actually sick?"
"Let's get down to business." Charles wasted no time.
Justin put down his bag and sat down.
Seeing they were about to discuss something, Mark quickly poured them a glass of water.
However.
When he returned and saw what Justin had taken out, his eyes widened.
He actually saw a will!
"Sir." Mark was stunned. "Why are you making a will?"
"It's nothing." Charles's lips moved slightly, his voice low and weak. "I have to make a will sooner or later, so why not now?"
Mark didn't understand. Charles was so young and didn't have children. Why make a will now?
Though he didn't understand, he couldn't interfere too much in such matters.
He didn't expect Charles to leave half of his assets to Daphne and the other half to Hayden and Laura.
An hour later.
Charles signed and stamped.
Everything was done.
After Justin left, Mark dared to ask, "Sir, whathappened?"
Was it because of that call?
"You didn't make a life-for-life deal with the person on the phone, did you?" Mark couldn't accept the thought.
He was so young; how could he make such a rash decision?
He wanted to report this.
"Can you think rationally?" Charles felt Mark was being a bit foolish today. "If I were making a life-for-life deal, I would have agreed directly with the person who kidnapped Daphne. Why go through all this trouble?"
Mark said, "Then you..."
Charles said, "I'm bored, so I'm taking care of future matters now."
Mark's lips twitched. Could such things be taken care of in advance?
Charles ignored his look and sat on the bed without moving.
His phone was always fully charged to avoid missing any contact from the person after Daphne was taken.
His deal with that person was just to give Daphne an extra layer of protection.
Whether Daphne's plan was thorough or had gaps, by doing this, he could ensure her safety 100%.
"Sir." Mark suddenly remembered something important and felt a bit panicked. "Did you say someone kidnapped Ms. Murphy?"
Charles said, "No."
Mark said, "But you just said..."
"I was just giving an example." Charles's lips moved slightly, ending the conversation. "From now on, forget everything you heard and saw."
"Sir!" Mark was anxious.
Daphne was his idol; he didn't want anything to happen to her.
Charles directly sent him away. "Leave, I need to rest."
Mark had no choice but to leave the room reluctantly and sit in the hallway outside.
He wanted to ask Jesse.
However, he was afraid it would disrupt Charles's plan.
He kept wavering in this attitude.
Meanwhile, on Daphne's side.
She met Evan and Kevin at HorizonTech Group.
After the call with Charles, she went to the most secure meeting room and locked the door before calling the others.
Once the group video call connected, Daphne explained her plan to them.
