Chapter 533 Your Roles Might Switch
When Daphne got started, a bunch of techies crowded around her.
She didn't let them bother her; she just kept her eyes on the screen, fingers flying over the keyboard.
Time ticked by.
Two hours later, Daphne was still going strong.
Benjamin, not really getting what was happening, asked one of the tech guys, "How's she doing?"
"Way better than the last person," they said, a bit nervous. "If we went up against her one-on-one, we'd lose."
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. She was that good?
"No way to break it in a short time," Daphne said after checking out their security system. "There are some small holes, but generally, it's solid."
"You can't break it either?" Benjamin asked.
Daphne glanced at the folks behind her before answering, "It'll take time."
"How long?" Benjamin pressed.
Daphne thought for a second. "Three days."
Even though the system was tough, she had taught herself everything and had never lost to any hacker.
"Benjamin, is this the talent you found for us?" the tech team leader asked, clearly interested in Daphne.
Benjamin smirked and, after a quick look at Daphne, said, "Nope."
"Then whose team member is she?" the team leader asked.
He was already planning to find out and try to get her on his team. If they didn't hand her over, he'd just take her.
"She's on my team," Benjamin said simply.
The team leader was stunned.
Seeing it was time to go, Benjamin decided to take Daphne away. "We have training, so we'll get out of your hair."
"Wait," the team leader tried one last time.
Even though it was tough to get someone from Benjamin, he had to try.
"How about a deal? She joins my team, and I'll let the leader help you pick any talent you want," the team leader offered, really wanting Daphne on his side.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow and said casually, "The leader's already granted me the authority to choose whoever I want."
The team leader knew that was coming.
"We're out," Benjamin said, patting the team leader's shoulder and leading Daphne away.
The team leader quickly pulled out his phone and called the higher-up, explaining what happened and what he wanted.
The higher-up replied, "Why are you even trying to get someone from him?"
"I'm just trying to get talent. Can you talk to him for me?" the team leader pleaded.
"Forget it," the higher-up said firmly. "Handle it yourself."
Then he hung up.
If he really took someone from Benjamin, there'd be trouble.
He was still hoping Benjamin would treat him to a meal.
Benjamin knew the tech department would call the higher-ups after they left, but he didn't care; he knew how they operated.
"The three days you mentioned earlier, that was just to save their pride, right?" Benjamin asked Daphne as they walked.
Daphne paused, a bit surprised, then nodded. "Yeah."
"No need to save their pride; they grow under pressure," Benjamin said, knowing those guys well. "So, how long would it really take you to break through?"
"Half an hour," Daphne admitted.
Even though the security system was pretty solid, if she went all out, it wouldn't take long since it was just a straight hack with no one trying to stop her.
If someone was actively defending, it’d be a different story.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. "So, what about the two hours earlier?"
"That was me taking it slow," Daphne replied.
Even though it was just a test system, it was still their hard work. Breaking through immediately wouldn't be good.
Of course, she had studied their defense system.
The test version was almost flawless; the real one would be even better. No one but her could hack in.
"Next time, I'll set up a competition," Benjamin mused. "You attack, they defend, and we'll see how long it takes."
Daphne nodded. "Okay."
As they chatted, they arrived at the training ground.
Emma and Evan were training under Efren's lead. They looked exhausted.
Benjamin greeted Efren and then gathered everyone together.
Then came the brutal training.
For over an hour, they trained intensely until noon when they could finally rest.
"Daphne continues training; the rest go eat," Benjamin ordered.
But no one moved.
Kevin was the first to speak up, "Why can't Daphne eat?"
"She delayed two hours just now, so she has to make up for it now," Benjamin said seriously.
Everyone was puzzled.
"Why?"
"Wasn't it you who called Daphne over just now?"
"Benjamin, isn't this a bit harsh?"
"Anyone who doesn't want to eat can stay and train with her," Benjamin said, looking at each of them. "I don't mind."
Hearing that, everyone left, but not without some parting words for Daphne.
"Daphne, what do you want to eat? I'll eat it for you later."
"If you're tired, let me know, and I'll pant for you."
"I'll bring you water after training."
Daphne rolled her eyes. "No need."
"Benjamin, be gentle with Daphne," Emma teased as she left. "Be careful. Your roles might switch."
Then she ran off quickly, not wanting to be left behind for more training.
After they all left, Benjamin asked Daphne, "Do you want me to be gentle with you?"
"No need," Daphne said bluntly.
Her gut told her that his "gentleness" would come with strings attached.
"Train for an hour, then go eat," Benjamin said, checking his watch.
Daphne nodded and got to it without another word.
She knew lunch was probably out of the question. The organization only had an hour for lunch, and by the time she finished training, they wouldn't be serving anymore.
Where would she get food? In the restroom?
