Chapter 654 In Every Era, I Only Loved the You of That Era

"What are you thinking about?" Benjamin pinched Daphne's slightly fleshy waist, thinking she could use a bit more weight. "You're so lost in thought."

Daphne spoke honestly, "I was thinking about what would happen if you divorced me."

She still didn't understand what exactly attracted Benjamin to her, always feeling that with Benjamin's personality, he shouldn't like her.

"You want to divorce me?" Benjamin applied a bit more pressure.

"No," Daphne quickly denied it and shared her worries with him. "Haven't you noticed that I haven't been as driven these past few years? You've spoiled me into laziness."

"If your schedule were made public, those hardworking people would probably accuse you of showing off," Benjamin remarked.

Every day, she got up at six or seven for a morning run and kept up with her fitness routine.

When Gavin and Jesse had work, Daphne would handle business for both companies simultaneously. When she had free time, she would study fields she hadn't explored before.

Only occasionally, when she had some downtime, would she watch TV or movies and go out for fun.

Benjamin didn't think this should be called lazy.

"Of all the things you could worry about, you shouldn't worry about me divorcing you," Benjamin said with a touch of humor. "Where else would I find someone as excellent as you to support me?"

Daphne felt a strong sense of shame.

"I don't have a penny to my name," Benjamin said with a smile, having given all his money to Daphne to manage. "Who else but you would support me for a lifetime?"

"Stop it," Daphne thought Benjamin was saying this on purpose. "With your looks, plenty of people would be willing."

"Even if they were willing, it wouldn't matter. My whole life belonged to you," Benjamin lowered his head and kissed her lips, his voice husky and filled with intimacy. "I don't want anyone but you."

Daphne glanced at him.

"Don't think too much," Benjamin didn't understand why Daphne had these thoughts but tried to comfort her. "We'll be together for a lifetime."

"What if a young, beautiful girl who looks like me at twenty shows up in the future?" Daphne didn't know why she had these strange thoughts. "Wouldn't you be attracted to her?"

Benjamin answered definitively, "No."

"Why not?" Daphne asked.

"My body and soul are yours, so you tell me why," Benjamin spoke directly, expressing his true feelings. "At every stage of my life, I only love the you of that stage."

Daphne pressed her lips together and said no more.

Psychologically, she knew Benjamin wouldn't leave her, but her mind still conjured up these random thoughts.

After a brief silence, Daphne concluded that she had been too idle lately and needed to get busy again.

If Benjamin knew this, he would probably start thinking of ways again.

Previously, Benjamin had gone to great lengths to get Daphne to spend more time with him, transitioning her from a busy lifestyle to the current one.

"Just sleep," Benjamin held her more gently and planned an activity. "We'll take the kids hiking on Saturday."

Daphne responded with a hum.

That night, perhaps because Benjamin's embrace was so comforting or his words so reassuring, she slept soundly without dreaming.

In the following months, Daphne kept herself busy.

An unexpected event later made her understand why she had those thoughts before.

When life was too happy, random thoughts tended to arise.

Fortunately, Benjamin always loved her and helped her through it.

Before they knew it, it was winter break.

Since Louis and Diana were going to Ivrea City with Charles, Daphne and Benjamin didn't enroll them in any extracurricular classes.

On the day vacation started, Diana circled around Daphne and Benjamin, her face full of uncontrollable joy and excitement. "Mom, when is Charles coming to pick us up?"

"Tomorrow."

"Why not today?"

Daphne fell silent.

Diana snuggled into her arms, soft and adorable. "Mom, why aren't you saying anything?"

"Do you really want to go to Ivrea City with him?" Daphne didn't understand why Diana liked Charles so much. Among all the adults, besides her and Benjamin, Diana was most interested in Charles.

"Yes!" Diana nodded quickly, her eyes sparkling. "Charles said there are lots of fun things and good food in Ivrea City. I want to go."

When she said this, Louis, who was playing with a puzzle, instinctively glanced at Benjamin and Daphne.

Diana didn't know the relationship between Charles and Daphne, but Louis did.

Did Benjamin feel nothing about Diana wanting to go so badly?

"Have you been there?" Diana asked another question.

Daphne and Benjamin exchanged a look, and Daphne naturally answered, "Yes."

"Was it fun?"

"Yes."

Daphne answered sincerely.

If Jasmine were still around, Daphne and Alexander would probably be retired in Ivrea City by now.

After all, Jasmine loved Ivrea City.

"How about the four of us go visit Charles together?" Diana loved Benjamin and Daphne very much, her eyes full of hope and expectation.

"Mom and Dad have things to do, they can't go," Louis rejected the idea for them.

Asking Daphne and Benjamin to visit Charles would only cause trouble.

"Aren't they on vacation?" Diana's concept of work was vague. "What else do they have to do?"

"Adults don't get winter or summer breaks," Louis explained seriously. "They still have to visit Alexander, Henry, and Anouk every week. They don't have time."

"Okay," Diana didn't push further.

After discussing this, Diana took her phone watch to call Charles.

In the yard, Diana jumped around, chatting happily with Charles on the phone.

After the call, Lon arrived.

Seeing Lon, Diana immediately ran over and hugged him. "Lon!"

Lon staggered, almost falling.

"Why are you here, Lon?" Diana was very enthusiastic.

Since attending Jesse and Elara's wedding, Diana had started playing with Lon and Noe again.

Lon's cheeks turned slightly red.

Like a little gentleman, he took an invitation out of his small backpack and handed it to her. "For you."

"What is it?" Diana asked as she opened it.

The invitation's design and the writing inside clearly showed it was made by Lon himself.
