Chapter 666 You'll Get Over It
Louis felt confident that his guess was correct.
Charles, unaware that Louis knew about his situation, saw him pursing his lips and mistook his silence for gloominess. He proactively asked, "Do you want to be my godson?"
"No," Louis refused.
"Why not?" Charles was genuinely curious about Louis's reasoning.
"I'm afraid if both Diana and I recognize you as our godfather, my dad will get jealous," Louis said directly, also testing the waters.
Charles pictured Benjamin in his mind. Given his personality, he probably wouldn't get jealous easily.
After a while, they all had breakfast together and then headed out.
Charles had the driver bring a spacious seven-seater SUV to ensure the three kids could sit comfortably.
By the time the four of them arrived at the amusement park, it was already past 10 AM. The sun cast a golden glow over the entire park, making everyone feel warm.
Diana loved to play.
As soon as they got out of the car, she grabbed Caspian's hand to choose a ride.
For most kids, an amusement park was a place to relax on weekends and holidays, but for Caspian, it was a luxury.
It wasn't about the money, anyone living in that neighborhood was worth at least tens of millions of dollars.
It was because Caspian had never experienced such fun in his childhood.
"Louis, Charles, come over here!" Diana waved at Louis and Charles, her face beaming with joy. "Let's ride the pirate ship first, okay?"
Louis instinctively resisted.
Before Charles could speak, Louis walked over with a serious face and said, "We shouldn't play anything too thrilling in the morning. Let's start with something mild like the carousel."
Diana wasn't interested in those.
Louis took on the big brother role. "Listen to me."
"Caspian, what do you want to play?" Diana asked for Caspian's opinion, her eyes sparkling adorably. "I'll go with whatever you choose."
"This one is fine," Caspian said indifferently. As long as Diana was happy, he didn't mind.
Louis felt a bit frustrated.
Why would Caspian like a ride that put your life in the hands of a machine?
Since both of them agreed, Louis had no choice but to go along, already planning an excuse to leave later.
He had dodged it during the summer break, but this time it seemed unavoidable.
Charles called over two bodyguards, one for each child, while he naturally sat next to Diana.
As the pirate ship slowly started, Louis's palms were sweaty, but his face remained as composed as ever. When the ship reached its highest point, his heart tightened, and the feeling of nausea returned.
Diana screamed with excitement.
Louis's grip on the handrail tightened, his face a bit paler than before.
After one round, Louis felt like he was about to break down.
"That was so much fun!" Diana exclaimed happily. "Caspian, let's go again!"
Caspian, not feeling any fear, saw her excitement and agreed, "Okay."
As the pirate ship was about to start again, Louis's smartwatch suddenly rang. He glanced at it and said, "You guys go ahead, I need to take a call."
"Is it Mom?" Diana asked.
"No," Louis replied, glancing down. "It's Emma."
He got off the pirate ship and answered the call.
Seeing that he wouldn't be done anytime soon, Diana continued playing.
Watching the pirate ship swing again, Louis almost felt nauseous again.
Emma doted on Louis. "Louis."
"Emma," Louis sighed in relief.
"Why don't you just tell Diana you don't like these things?" Emma knew he was afraid of them since they were both motorcycle enthusiasts. "Diana is so understanding, she won't force you."
"I can't say that," Louis said firmly.
Emma understood him well. "Because you're the big brother, you can't show fear?"
Louis nodded.
"What will you do later?" Emma checked the time. "I can help you dodge it with this call in the morning, but what about the afternoon?"
"I haven't figured that out yet," Louis said, rubbing his temples.
He had messaged Emma when he got on the pirate ship, asking her to call him later.
Luckily, the call came just in time; otherwise, the second round would have started.
"Kevin is also in Ivrea City. Should I ask him to come find you this afternoon?" Emma suggested. "You could say he's here to teach you hacking."
"Too obvious," Louis said, feeling a bit troubled.
And this was an amusement park, adults usually didn't want to interrupt the kids' fun.
"How many of you are there?" Emma asked, trying to come up with a plan.
"Me, Diana, Charles, and a little boy Diana just met," Louis answered honestly. "And a few bodyguards playing with us."
"How about suggesting an adventure house in the afternoon?" Emma thought aloud. "Diana loves to play, so she might agree."
Louis didn't think so. "Not reliable."
They continued chatting.
Emma proposed several plans, but Louis rejected them all, either because they had flaws or would ruin Diana's fun.
"Should I ask your mom to talk to Charles and have him cover for you?" Emma suggested again. "With him around, Diana probably won't suspect anything."
"I don't want him to know," Louis said, a bit prideful.
Emma put the call on speaker and switched to the chat interface.
Emma: [Daphne, Charles took Diana and Louis to the amusement park. Louis is scared but doesn't want to show it. Can you think of something?]
Daphne: [He'll get over it after a few more rides.]
Emma: [?]
Emma: [Benjamin?]
Benjamin was replying on Daphne's phone, typing nonchalantly: [Yes.]
Emma: [Louis is still a kid. Are you sure this is appropriate?]
Benjamin continued typing: [Tell him exactly what I said. He'll know what to do.]
Emma stared at the message, momentarily confused.
Was there a hidden meaning?
Despite her confusion, Emma relayed the message to Louis. "Louis, I just asked your mom, and your dad replied."
"What did he say?" Louis knew Benjamin could come up with good ideas in critical moments.
"He said..." Emma glanced at the message again, feeling a bit reluctant. "You'll get over it after a few more rides."
