Chapter 515 Look Up the Meaning of Inferiority

Louis was about to head upstairs without a word.

"Hold up," Gilbert called out.

"What's up?" Louis asked, keeping it short.

"I need to chat with Hestia," Gilbert said, his face as icy as ever. "Relax, it's just about the kids' education and stuff. I'm not gonna push her to give up custody."

"I'll talk to her," Louis said after a quick think.

Gilbert nodded and waited downstairs.

Louis handed him the agreement, then went up to fill Hestia in on everything.

When she heard Gilbert wanted to talk, she immediately wanted to bail.

"If you don't wanna deal with him, I can go down and tell him to buzz off," Louis offered, seeing her hesitation.

Hestia paused, thinking it over.

After a bit, she finally said, "I'll go."

This had to be sorted out eventually; putting it off wasn't helping.

Lon looked worried. "Mom."

"It's okay," Hestia said, even though she was scared too. "You stay here with Louis and Diana. I'll be back to cook after I talk to him."

With that, she headed downstairs.

Lon's face was full of worry. He looked at Louis with a mix of emotions and asked in his small voice, "Gilbert won't hurt Mom, right?"

"He won't," Louis reassured him.

Louis hadn't met many people, but he was good at reading them. Someone like Gilbert, once he made a promise, he wouldn't break it.

"I'll cook for you," Lon said, grabbing his little apron like a mini-adult. "You guys can watch TV for a bit."

With that, he headed to the kitchen.

Louis and Diana were baffled.

"Cook?" Diana asked, surprised.

"What are you gonna eat if I don't cook?" Lon was more thoughtful than Louis in some ways. "It will take at least an hour for them to talk. You can't just sit here hungry."

Plus, Hestia had a part-time job to get to after this.

If he cooked, she could finish up quicker and get some rest.

Louis looked at Lon, stunned. "You can cook?"

"A bit," Lon said modestly. "But it won't be as good as your chef's cooking."

With that, Lon got busy in the kitchen.

Watching the little guy, Diana and Louis stood there for a while, trying to wrap their heads around it.

In their world, cooking was something Benjamin and Daphne never let them do. Their only chores were tidying up their stuff, organizing their rooms, and folding clothes.

"Lon! I'll help you," Diana said, finding it all very exciting, and ran into the kitchen.

Louis followed her in.

And so, the three kids started their kitchen adventure.

When Hestia came back an hour later, the worry on her face was gone, and she seemed in a pretty good mood.

Seeing the freshly cooked dishes on the table, Hestia knew Lon had whipped them up.

"Lon, you..." Hestia started as she walked towards the kitchen.

As soon as she stepped in, she saw Lon showing Louis the ropes in the kitchen.

Louis was pouring eggs into the pan, making a sizzling sound, and oil was splattering everywhere.

Unfortunately, a tiny drop of oil splashed onto Louis's hand.

The sudden sting made him instinctively drop the bowl, causing it to clatter into the pan.

With a loud noise, Hestia rushed over, turned off the stove, and asked worriedly, "You okay? Did you get burned?"

"I'm fine," Louis said, the pain already fading. It only hurt for a second when the oil hit his hand.

Hestia checked his hand and, seeing he was really okay, told Lon to take them to wash up and eat. She then finished cooking the eggs.

During dinner, Louis seemed out of it.

His mind kept replaying the kitchen scene.

Even though Lon was just a year older, he could cook up several dishes that looked and tasted amazing. Louis, on the other hand, couldn't do squat.

Even after dinner, on the way home, Louis was still lost in thought.

"Louis?" Diana waved her hand in front of his face.

Louis was still deep in his own world.

Diana raised her voice. "Louis!"

Louis snapped out of it and asked calmly, "What's up?"

"It's not about me; it's about you." Diana was sitting on the couch with Gavin, her little face full of concern. "You've been spaced out since we left Lon's place. What's going on?"

Gavin was curious too. "Yeah, what's up?"

Louis opened his mouth but then clammed up. It was too embarrassing!

"Can't you even tell me?" Gavin pressed. There weren't many things that got to Louis.

"I was just wondering how Gilbert and Hestia's talk went," Louis said seriously, then smoothly changed the subject. "By the way, Gavin, when did you learn to cook?"

Gavin looked surprised. "Cook?"

"Yeah," Louis said, keeping his cool.

Gavin replied confidently, "I can't."

When it came to cooking, he was just like Daphne—no talent. He could heat stuff up but couldn't really cook.

"What about Mom?" Louis asked again.

"She can't either," Gavin said honestly. "But she's not picky, so she's always been easy to take care of."

Hearing this, Louis went quiet.

His round eyes were full of thoughts.

"Why are you asking this?" Gavin asked, curious.

Louis was about to brush it off.

But Diana excitedly chimed in, "I know!"

Gavin and Louis both turned to her.

"Louis feels inferior!" Diana's eyes sparkled.

"Don't use words you don't understand," Louis shot back, clearly annoyed. "Look up what 'inferior' means."

"Anyway, you're asking because Lon can cook all these yummy things, and you can't," Diana said without hesitation, totally calling Louis out.
