Chapter 521 Leverage
Louis, who had tagged along, was thinking, 'Didn't she just say she wouldn't reach out for him? Now she's sprinting like a track star.'
"Lon, why are you here so early?" Diana's big round eyes were sparkling, looking super cute. "Did you come here just to see me?"
"Yeah," Lon replied, trying to play it cool.
He clearly had no clue how to explain himself.
Lon handed over the small cake in his hand, his voice as sweet as ever. "This is a small cake I made with my mom, as a sorry gift. I shouldn't have forced you to come back last time."
"Apology accepted." Diana happily took it.
Then she dragged Lon inside to have breakfast.
After breakfast, Diana's eyes were glued to the cake.
She always had a sweet tooth, especially since this one was made by Lon. "Lon, this cake is so yummy!"
Lon asked, grinning, "You like it?"
"Yeah!" Diana nodded.
"Next time you come to my house, I'll make a bigger one for you." Seeing her enjoy the cake, Lon felt a bit relieved.
Diana agreed quickly, "Okay."
The two kids went off to play together again.
Louis watched Diana, feeling a mix of emotions, but didn't step in.
He'd occasionally snap photos of Diana and Lon hanging out, thinking he could show them to her when she started dating or got married.
"Louis, the cake Lon made is super delicious." Halfway through eating, Diana suddenly walked over to Louis with the small cake and offered him a spoonful. "Try it."
"I don't like sweets," Louis refused.
He wasn't into snacks or sweets.
Diana wanted him to praise Lon, persistently pushing the cake towards his mouth. "Just try it~"
Diana pled, "Louis. This is your cute, obedient, kind, and lively sister feeding you. Are you really not going to eat it?"
"Just one bite." Louis couldn't resist her and finally gave in.
"Okay." Diana's wish was granted.
Louis ate the cake she fed him.
To him, all desserts tasted the same.
Diana watched Louis after he finished, her cute and obedient face full of curiosity and anticipation. "How is it?"
"It's okay."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"I knew you'd like it too." Diana had already made plans. "When I play with Lon later, can you help us record a video?"
Louis asked first, "What are you playing?"
"Role-playing," Diana blurted out, something she picked up from her friends at Emma's place. "I'll be the bride, and Lon will be the groom."
Honestly, Louis wanted to laugh when he heard that. No amount of blackmail material could top this.
When Diana got a boyfriend in the future, this would be the most embarrassing story to share.
"Do you know what bride and groom mean?" Louis asked as he got the camera ready.
Diana took a bite of cake, her flawless face rosy and tender. "I know, when Mom and Dad got hitched, Mom was the bride, and Dad was the groom."
"Correct."
"When I grow up, I wanna marry Lon too!"
"No, I want Lon to marry me. I wanna bring Lon home," Diana corrected herself.
"You're only four years old," Louis said, recording her.
"I know, so I'm just playing a game with Lon now," Diana said seriously. "When I grow up, I'll ask mom and dad to go with me to Lon's house and bring him home."
Louis decided to keep quiet. He played the cameraman, and even though he was young, his skills were pretty impressive.
Even though Diana and Lon were just playing a game, Louis filmed it like a blockbuster.
After the game, Diana took Lon to meet some nearby friends and introduced Lon as her groom.
Gavin saw Louis engrossed in filming and walked over. "Diana's being taken away, aren't you worried?"
Wasn't Louis super concerned before? Why so chill now?
"A few days ago, she ditched Lon for Eddy. In a few years, when she meets someone else good-looking, she'll forget all about this." Louis knew Diana's personality well.
Gavin paused.
After capturing the important moments, Louis stopped filming and asked, "Do you still hang out with your childhood friends?"
"No," Gavin answered honestly.
Most childhood friends drifted apart as they grew up, only a few stayed close.
"Then why are you filming if she'll forget all this?" Gavin realized and asked, puzzled.
"I'm recording her embarrassing moments to use against her." Louis didn't even spare Diana.
Gavin was shocked, not expecting this from a four-year-old. "You wouldn't be recording my embarrassing moments, would you?"
"No." Louis wasn't one to easily record blackmail material. "Diana asked me to film this. When she likes someone else in the future, I'll show her this."
"That's what a brother does." Gavin sighed.
With this, Diana didn't stand a chance.
Luckily, Louis was good to Diana, or Gavin would worry about her future.
Diana wasn't thinking about any of this now. Even if she knew, she'd just say she'd always like Lon.
For the next while, Louis and Diana diligently caught up on their missed classes.
Because it was one-on-one or one-on-two tutoring, Gavin actively communicated with their teachers about the schedule.
So, the latter part of their summer was almost fully booked.
Before they knew it, it was the end of August.
Daphne and Benjamin were also preparing to return.
A couple of days before their return, Diana found out something.
She looked at Louis in shock and asked, "Are you sure the day Lon asked me to come back and play was his birthday?"
"Yeah." Louis nodded. "Hestia mentioned it when we were at Lon's house today."
