Chapter 420 I'm Not Sick, I Don't Need Medicine
It was a pity that Charles didn't cherish Daphne back then and ended up losing such a good girl.
Hayden didn't want Laura to worry about these things. "Rex's situation isn't confirmed yet, and even if it is, Charles will handle it. He can handle everything well except his own feelings."
Hearing this, Laura felt down.
Even though months had passed, she still felt like Daphne and Charles had just broken up a few days ago.
Hayden knew what she was thinking and gently hugged her.
After returning to his room, Charles messaged Mark, asking him to investigate Rex's whereabouts and social circle over the past year.
Mark complied.
At midnight, Charles was still lying in bed, unable to sleep.
Ever since he regained his memory, he hadn't had a good night's sleep, except for that one time he drank. His insomnia persisted in the days that followed.
Charles left two days after to prevent Marcus and others from worrying, moving to his former villa with Daphne.
One day, after finishing the documents Mark handed over, Charles decided to get a glass of water. But as soon as he stood up, his vision went black, his ears rang, and he fainted on the ground.
Mark was startled and called out nervously, "Mr. Lancelot!"
He called out several times, but Charles didn't respond.
Mark immediately took him to the hospital.
Brian rushed over upon hearing the news.
Looking at Charles, who was still unconscious on the hospital bed, Brian casually asked, "What happened?"
Could it be that he hadn't fully recovered before? But that didn't make sense; he had personally overseen his recovery, so there shouldn't be any issues.
"The doctor said he's been getting too little sleep each day, and his mental state has deteriorated," Mark answered truthfully.
Brian glanced at Charles on the bed and asked, "How many hours does he sleep a day?"
"Two," Mark replied.
This data was something he had checked after the doctor told him.
"Is it because of the work?" Brian asked.
"No," Mark replied.
"Insomnia?" Brian asked.
"Probably," Mark answered, unsure either.
During this period, Charles spent most of his time at The Lancelot Mansion and didn't handle company matters, so it couldn't be work-related.
Since it wasn't work, Mark could only guess it was insomnia.
Brian didn't say anything, planning to give Charles a check-up once he woke up.
Charles, upon waking up, did not cooperate with Brian and left the hospital as soon as he felt better.
Brian stopped him. "Come with me for a check-up."
"No, I'm fine," Charles said stubbornly.
"Charles," Brian called.
He continued, "Why don't you go back to Gedser? There's nothing left for you to do here right now, so you should go back."
"Come with me for a check-up. If you continue to push yourself like this, your mental state will break down soon," he said, trying to scare him but also being honest. "How will you ensure Daphne's happiness if that happens?"
Hearing the last sentence, Charles was taken aback.
"Don't you want to see her happy? If you die now or your mental state collapses, you won't be able to help her if Benjamin bullies her," Brian said, hitting him where it hurt the most.
Charles stood there without moving.
Mark also came over to persuade him, "Go for the check-up. Only if you're healthy can you see how Ms. Murphy is doing."
"I'm fine, just can't sleep due to insomnia," Charles said softly, his attitude less firm than before. "It'll get better in a while."
Brian and Mark didn't say anything; they both knew the reason.
Ultimately, it was because he hadn't moved on from his past relationship, and the guilt and regret weighed heavily on him.
"If you refuse a check-up, then let me hypnotize you later," Brian said, noticing his red eyes and exhaustion. "Otherwise, you won't be leaving the hospital today."
"Got it," Charles said lightly, walking past them towards the exit.
Mark followed closely.
Brian, after calming himself, also chased after them.
In Queens Villa, Brian used hypnosis to put Charles into a deep sleep.
Mark, who had never seen real hypnosis, couldn't help but worry. "Will this cause any problems?"
"No," Brian, being a professional, said confidently. "I'm just letting him have a good sleep. With his current mental state, if he keeps pushing himself, he'll have a breakdown soon."
"We can't hypnotize him every time," Mark said, feeling conflicted.
He knew the root of the problem, but only Charles could resolve it.
Neither Mark nor Brian could persuade him.
"I'll prescribe some medication for you. Give him one pill every night before bed," Brian said slowly, his usually gentle eyes now heavy with concern. "If he refuses to take it, dissolve it in water or milk for him to drink."
The medication was something Brian had developed himself, approved with no side effects, but very costly.
"Thank you," Mark said, feeling a bit relieved.
While Charles was asleep, Brian called his assistant to have the medication delivered.
Fortunately, he had brought some back to the base earlier; otherwise, he would have had to fly abroad.
"As for this hypnosis, the effect will last for two or three days," Brian explained clearly. "It will allow him to sleep for about three hours each day. After two or three days, he'll need to take the medication."
"Okay," Mark agreed.
Brian nodded and went to make a call.
Given Charles' current condition, the medication at the base wouldn't be enough for him.
Brian needed to order more ingredients to make more medication before the current supply ran out, or else Charles would definitely have problems if he kept pushing himself.
Charles slept for a full nine hours.
When he woke up, it was already dark outside, and he was a bit disoriented, unsure where he was.
It wasn't until Mark came in to check on him that he found out.
"Don't worry about the company. I've taken care of everything," Mark, being very reliable, said. "Get up and eat something. Dinner is ready."
Charles nodded in agreement, his muddled mind becoming clearer.
Halfway through the meal, he suddenly remembered something and asked, "Where's Brian?"
"He had something to take care of," Mark answered.
"What?" Charles asked.
"Not sure. He didn't say," Mark said as Brian had instructed.
Charles didn't ask further and continued eating.
His current state made Mark very worried, yet he didn't say anything.
A few days later, the hypnosis effect wore off.
Mark gave Charles the medication Brian had given him, but Charles refused to take it, as Brian had predicted.
"I'm not sick. I don't need medication," Charles said stubbornly, as he didn't think he was at the point of needing medication. "The previous fainting was just an accident. It won't happen again."
