Chapter 523 Punishment
Louis used to keep Diana in check for the first few days, but after seeing Diana all happy, he just let her do her thing.
After all, it was not every day she could find someone she was super pumped to hang out with.
"Diana's off the hook, and I'll crash alone, starting tonight," Louis tried to negotiate. "I won't bug you guys."
Benjamin shot him a look. Was this him admitting he'd been messing around on purpose?
Seeing Benjamin stay quiet, Louis pushed, "Deal?"
"Go stand in the corner and think about it for three hours," Benjamin wasn't having it. He wasn't about to slack on discipline. "You can only go out to play once your homework's done."
Louis was taken aback. Even with those terms, no dice?
"What are you waiting for? Want me to double it?" Benjamin's voice got a bit more serious.
Louis and Diana shuffled off.
As they left, Louis threw a glance back at Benjamin.
Daphne saw the whole thing and asked, "Who's Lon?"
Gavin had mentioned him before, but she hadn't really dug into it.
It was the first time Diana ditched her homework to play.
Usually, Diana was pretty on point with her tasks.
"He's gonna be your future son-in-law," Gavin strolled in, rocking a white T-shirt. "Diana's already invited the neighborhood kids to witness her and Lon get hitched."
Benjamin didn't even bat an eye.
"She even said she wants to marry Lon when she grows up," Gavin added.
Thinking it over, Daphne asked, "Is that kid cute?"
"Yeah." Gavin nodded. "Pretty much as cute as Louis."
Daphne wasn't surprised.
Diana did have a thing for good-looking folks.
But Daphne wasn't too worried. She'd already schooled Diana on how to look out for herself and what not to do.
"That kid's a whiz like Louis. Last time he was here, he had a hacking showdown with Louis." Gavin filled her in. "I didn't get it, but it looked pretty cool."
Daphne was a bit taken aback. "Hacking?"
"Yeah." Gavin nodded.
"Mom! Lon taught himself hacking!" Diana chirped excitedly. "If you teach him, he'll totally outdo Louis."
Louis, stuck in punishment with her, just felt defeated.
Benjamin's dark eyes flicked over, his lazy voice drawling, "Stand still."
Diana quickly turned her head and stood straight.
But she was dying to tell Daphne about Lon, so she couldn't keep still.
She fidgeted and whispered to Louis now and then, totally unlike her usual obedient self during punishment.
Benjamin noticed. He got up, walked over with his long strides, and stared her down.
Diana instantly straightened up.
Benjamin watched them as long as they stood.
Even after three hours, Diana didn't dare move.
When Louis's watch beeped, he told Diana, "Time's up. You're free from the corner."
Diana was about to move but froze when she saw Benjamin still standing there.
Why was he still hanging around?
"Dad," she called out sweetly.
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, "What's up?"
"Are you thirsty?" Diana didn't dare move on her own, so she tried to find an excuse. "I can get you a glass of water."
"No need." Benjamin saw right through her.
Diana sighed and stood still.
Time dragged on.
She still didn't dare budge.
Seeing she'd had enough, Benjamin started chatting about Lon. "So, I heard from Gavin you had a little wedding with Lon while playing?"
"No!" Diana quickly denied, a bit scared. "Gavin's lying."
"Are you gonna skip your homework for play again?"
"No."
"What if it happens again?"
"I won't be allowed to play with Lon."
Hearing that, Benjamin let it go and told her to finish her homework.
Diana nodded and went to hit the books.
For the rest of the short break, Diana was all about studying. When Lon asked her to play, she politely turned him down.
Before they knew it, school was starting again.
Daphne and Benjamin took Louis and Diana to kindergarten.
Just as they were about to head home after sorting out school stuff, Diana spotted Lon and dashed over to him and Hestia. "Lon!"
She gave Lon a big hug.
"Lon, come over to my place later. I'll make up for your birthday," she chatted excitedly.
Lon didn't say anything, just furrowed his brows and looked at her, puzzled.
"I'm not Lon." Noe pulled his hand out of Diana's hug, his face cold and distant.
"I've been swamped with homework, so I didn't come out to play," Diana explained, trying to be nice. "Don't be mad at me."
When Noe was about to explain, Lon walked over, a mix of indulgence and amusement on his face. "Dummy, he's my brother, not me."
Diana instinctively turned towards the voice.
She was totally confused. Two Lons?
"Your brother's so good-looking," Diana's eyes lit up, praising both of them. "Just as good-looking as you!"
Lon was about to say something.
But then he saw Daphne, Benjamin, and Louis standing not far away.
"Lon, why don't you and your brother come over later?" Diana was super enthusiastic, holding both their hands. "I'll make up for your birthday."
"Us?" Lon furrowed his brows.
"Yeah." Diana thought she was making perfect sense. "Aren't you two born on the same day?"
Lon pressed his lips together, not saying anything. They were born on the same day, but why celebrate with Noe?
Diana and Noe had just met today, right?
"You guys go ahead. I'm not coming." Noe, being more reserved, wasn't as sociable as Lon.
"Don't be shy." Diana smiled adorably. "My mom, dad, and brother are all super nice. After we eat the birthday cake, I'll ask my mom to teach Lon hacking."
