Chapter 439 No Need to Rush
"How'd you get in?" Daphne asked, eyeing the open door, feeling a bit guilty.
"Just checking on you," Benjamin said, all casual-like, strolling over. "And to see if you need any help."
Daphne turned off her phone screen. "Not now."
Benjamin sauntered over, his gaze landing on her dark computer screen, teasing, "You got a unique way of working."
"Even with the monitor off, I can manage," Daphne said, trying to stay cool.
"Why don't you teach me? I'll pay you," Benjamin said, enjoying the slight frustration on her face.
"Can't teach you," Daphne said seriously, though she was totally bluffing. "This technique requires advanced hacking skills, which you don't have."
"I don't think so," Benjamin said.
"What?" Daphne asked, confused.
"Even the best hackers need the computer to be on to do their work, right?" Benjamin paced around her, pointing to the turned-off power strip. "The computer isn't even on. How are you doing it?"
Daphne coughed lightly and said, "I'm using my phone."
"Are you done?" Benjamin asked again.
Daphne felt a bit overwhelmed.
It was just a simple convo, but now it felt like she was being grilled.
Benjamin's pressure was no joke.
Daphne didn't dare say she wasn't done, fearing Benjamin would find more faults. She replied, "Yeah, I'm done. I'm gonna take a bath and sleep. You should hit the sack early too."
Benjamin placed his hands on the table behind her, trapping her between his arms. "It's only nine-thirty."
"A bath takes half an hour," Daphne said.
"You just took one before going out," Benjamin shot back.
"Shopping made me uncomfortable," Daphne explained.
"Really?" Benjamin asked.
"Yes," Daphne answered firmly.
"I'll run the bath for you," Benjamin offered.
As he said, he stood up straight, his long eyes filled with meaning.
Daphne blinked. Why did she feel something was off?
While Benjamin went to run the bath, Daphne sent a message in a group chat with three people, asking an urgent question: [How can I have a say in the relationship?]
Emma: [?]
Zoey: [?]
Daphne frowned and asked: [What do you mean?]
Emma: [What are you thinking? Wanting a say in the relationship with Benjamin?]
Zoey: [Dreams are fine, but you should give up on delusions.]
Daphne was confused. She just wanted a bit of authority in the relationship. Why did it seem like she was being delusional?
Emma: [If you really want authority, there's only one way.]
Daphne: [What?]
Emma: [Dominate him in bed.]
Emma: [In bed, as long as you're not shy, he'll be the one who's shy.]
Emma: [Good luck.]
Daphne felt this was unreliable.
"Ms. Murphy, the bath is ready," Benjamin said as he appeared at the door, tall and elegant. "You can go now."
"Can you stop calling me that?"
"Don't like it?" Benjamin asked deliberately.
"I don't."
"I quite like it," Benjamin said, his lips curving into a charming smile, his deep voice magnetic.
Daphne's eyes met his, and she blurted out, "Then I'll call you by your nickname."
"Okay," Benjamin said, all chill.
Daphne thought, 'Didn't Anouk say Benjamin had beaten up Chris several times for calling him by his nickname? Why is he so indifferent now?'
"Go take your bath," Benjamin said as he walked over and lifted her from her seat.
Daphne walked slowly. When she reached the bathroom door, she asked, "You really don't mind?"
"I don't," Benjamin said flatly.
"Really?" Daphne asked again.
"Really," Benjamin answered firmly.
Daphne didn't buy it. If she were called that, she wouldn't like it.
As she pondered, a bold idea suddenly popped into her head. Unaware of who gave her the courage, she said, "You should take a bath too. After you're done, wait for me in bed. I have something to discuss with you."
"Daphne," Benjamin called, his eyes dark as he looked down at her calm face.
Daphne's tone rose slightly. "Yes?"
"Do you know what you just said means?" Benjamin asked.
"Yep," Daphne said with a nod.
"What does it mean?" Benjamin pressed.
"I want that test," Daphne said with a mischievous smile.
Hearing this, Benjamin's smile widened.
He laughed so hard his chest shook, and his voice carried laughter. "Alright, I'll wait for you," he said.
Daphne felt uneasy again, but she kept repeating Emma's words in her mind: 'As long as I am not shy, Benjamin will be the one who is shy.'
The next half hour was torturous for Daphne but filled with anticipation for Benjamin.
He was curious about how Daphne would test him.
Half an hour wasn't long, but it wasn't short either.
When Daphne came out of the bath, she saw Benjamin lying on her bed in a robe, his hair more tousled than usual, adding a touch of allure to his elegance.
As she looked over, Benjamin also looked at her. Seeing her wet hair, he lifted the blanket, intending to dry it for her.
"Don't move," Daphne stopped him, feeling nervous. "I'll do it myself."
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. Was drying hair something to be nervous about?
At this moment, Daphne had forgotten about drying her hair. She had planned to dry it, but seeing Benjamin lying on her bed made her forget.
"Don't be nervous," Daphne said, unsure if she was talking to herself or to Benjamin. "I'll take it slow."
Benjamin was amused by her and replied leisurely, "Okay."
"Are you ready?" Daphne asked.
"Always ready," Benjamin said.
"Should we turn off the lights?" Daphne asked.
"Up to you," Benjamin said nonchalantly.
She had completely taken the lead, but why did it feel like Benjamin wasn't shy at all?
If Emma and Zoey knew, they would definitely ask her, "Do you have a misunderstanding about taking the lead?"
"Here I come," Daphne said, pretending to be calm.
Benjamin's gaze fell on her dripping hair, and he said, "Wait."
Daphne froze.
Benjamin got out of bed, striding towards her.
"Didn't we agree that I would do it?" Daphne didn't know what he was up to.
"Shouldn't you dry your hair first?" Benjamin took a towel and dried her hair, then grabbed a hairdryer to help her. "The night is long. No need to rush."
