Chapter 624 Childhood Friend

Kaitlyn thought Daisy was out of her mind. Daisy had told Austin about her rich backer. Did she really believe Austin would love her enough to overlook that, or did she simply not care about him at all?

"Don't you know that?" Daisy shot back.

'What am I supposed to know?' Kaitlyn wondered, taken aback.

"The rich backer behind her is Daphne," Austin admitted, feeling a bit defeated. When it came to Daisy, he always lost to Daphne. "You and your husband together can't handle this."

By chance, the paparazzi had snapped photos of Daphne and Daisy shopping together, with Daisy driving a supercar that only people with special qualifications could obtain. Initially, everyone had assumed Daisy had found a wealthy sponsor.

However, further investigation revealed that the true wealthy individual had been Daphne, who had gifted the car to Daisy. It also became clear that Daphne and Daisy had been very good friends.

Since then, Daisy's fans all knew Daphne was her wealthy backer.

"So what if that's true," Kaitlyn continued, "Without Daphne and Austin, you're nothing."

"Then wait until the day they both leave me, and you can say that," Daisy replied casually, looking completely unbothered.

Kaitlyn was fuming. She couldn't understand why someone as powerful as Daphne would be friends with Daisy. What was so special about Daisy?

"If there's nothing else, please leave my house," Daisy said, not wanting to waste another second with her.

"You think I want to be here? If Austin hadn't forced me to come and apologize, I wouldn't have set foot in this place," Kaitlyn snapped, losing her cool and forgetting Austin's instructions.

Daisy glanced at Austin and said, "Handle it yourself."

With that, Daisy led Molly into the living room, her mood no longer suited for the sunny outdoors.

Austin hadn't expected things to go this way. He looked at Kaitlyn, who was still glaring at Daisy, and his tone turned icy. "It seems you want me to inform your husband about your behavior."

"You told me to apologize, and I did. It's not my fault she didn't hear it," Kaitlyn argued.

Austin's expression hardened, and he had security escort her out.

He had thought Kaitlyn might feel a bit guilty, but instead, she seemed defiant.

"Wait a minute," Kaitlyn was still worried.

Austin paused, looking at her with growing impatience.

Kaitlyn explained her concern. "I hope you keep your promise. I apologized, so you can't go telling my husband anything."

Austin didn't respond and walked off to find Daisy. He had worked hard to become her boyfriend, and losing that status because of today's mess would be a disaster.

Daisy was sitting in the living room waiting for Austin, having sent Molly upstairs to play. Hearing footsteps, she looked towards the sound.

"I'm sorry," Austin apologized sincerely, his expression complicated. "I didn't expect things to turn out this way."

"Why did you make her apologize?" Daisy couldn't wrap her head around it. If it were to apologize for spreading lies about Austin a few years ago, it wasn't necessary; she wouldn't accept the apology anyway.

"Do you remember when my parents came to see you?" Austin started to explain. "Molly overheard your conversation with them, and some rumors started spreading at school."

"What rumors?" Daisy paused, her concern for Molly evident.

Austin scratched his face, clearly uncomfortable. "They said Molly is..."

"Is what?" Daisy pressed.

"It's what my parents said to you, the really nasty stuff," Austin couldn't bring himself to say it directly, so he hinted at it.

Daisy was initially puzzled, then recalled the events of that day.

It had been two years, and her memory of that time wasn't complete, but she still remembered the harsh words Dennis and Selene had said.

Daisy pursed her lips and asked, "And then?"

"It was Kaitlyn who spread the rumors," Austin said, word by word. "She admitted it."

"How did you find out about this?" Daisy asked.

When it came to Molly, Daisy was always very attentive and told the teachers to contact her directly if anything happened. For such a big issue, the teacher should have called her long ago. How could there be no sign of it?

"Molly told me," Austin confessed, his expression serious. "After I failed to confess to you that day, Molly told me about it and asked me to go back and solve the main problem."

Daisy was a bit taken aback. "Are you sure it was Molly?"

Austin nodded. To him, Molly had always behaved like her peers, but that day Austin had sensed a maturity beyond her years.

Daisy felt a surge of questions rising, but she hesitated. She didn't want to bring up old issues and risk upsetting Molly.

"You don't need to worry too much about her. Molly said the teacher talked to them, so the rumors didn't affect her," Austin comforted as he noticed the change in Daisy's expression.

Daisy's eyes showed emotion. "What did you and Kaitlyn talk about outside?"

Austin obediently recounted everything, including his previous attempts to test Kaitlyn. He didn't want to hide anything from her.

"Tell her husband about these things." Daisy wasn't one to meddle, but she couldn't tolerate Kaitlyn framing Molly.

Austin agreed with Daisy's suggestion and said, "Okay."

Daisy was a bit surprised. "You're not going to stop me?"

"Why would I stop you?" Austin retorted, making a valid point. "She did something wrong and should be punished. Since she doesn't want to apologize sincerely, I'll have to let her family know what kind of person she is."

"She is your childhood friend." Daisy was testing him, a behavior that was a remnant of past issues. "Can you really be so ruthless to her?"

"Don't say that," Austin corrected her quickly. "She is just a neighbor, not a childhood friend."

"Really?" Daisy asked.

Austin said sincerely, "Of course!"

"Then how did you manage to force me to abort Molly because of a neighbor's words?" Daisy asked, looking into his eyes, wanting to know his answer.
