Chapter 467 Be Caught
"Yo, what's in my cell phone is totally private," Daphne clutched her phone like it was her lifeline, trying to reason with Benjamin. "You can't just snoop through it."
"I'm your personal stuff too. Been talking smack about me?" Benjamin sauntered over, oozing that lazy, aristocratic vibe.
Daphne was at a loss for words.
Benjamin kept pushing, "Well, have you?"
"No."
"For real?"
"Yes."
That "yes" was shaky at best.
Benjamin's lips curled into a sly grin, his deep voice dripping with seduction. "Then swear, if you're lying and it's about me, I'll lose my mojo for life."
Daphne's eyes went wide. "That's a huge gamble."
"Scared to swear?"
"Aren't you worried I might be talking about you and still swear?"
"Nope," Benjamin said coolly. "If the curse hits, I won't be the only one bummed out."
"A lose-lose, huh?"
"Pretty much."
Benjamin waited for her to crack.
Daphne hesitated. Even though swearing seemed old-school in this tech-savvy age, she couldn't risk it with Benjamin. If it backfired, there'd be no turning back.
"Okay, fine. The convo was about you, but I swear I didn't say anything bad or private." Daphne decided honesty was the best policy, realizing she was outmatched.
Benjamin leaned in closer. "Let me see."
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"No reason, just can't," Daphne said earnestly.
"If you don't let me see, how do I know you're not lying?" Benjamin teased, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "They say a girl's chat with her BFF is sacred, I..."
Before he could finish, Daphne quickly stood on her toes and pecked him on the cheek.
Her eyes sparkled, and her tone softened. "Believe me now?"
"Not quite." Benjamin was loving this, tapping his lips with his long, elegant fingers. "Kiss here, for a minute."
Daphne obliged, more confidently this time. Their playful banter turned into something way more heated.
Benjamin took charge, pulling her in and deepening the kiss, their breaths mingling, the vibe getting seriously steamy.
"Minute's up." Daphne panted, her cheeks flushed.
Benjamin pulled back, his eyes lingering on her slightly wet lips, his Adam's apple bobbing, certain parts of him waking up.
Daphne noticed and quickly changed the subject. "Do you believe me now?"
"Yeah."
"Cool, I'm gonna go chat with them."
Daphne tried to make a break for it.
Benjamin grabbed her arm, pulling her back into his arms. "Have you thought about what I mentioned before?"
Daphne was confused. What thing?
"Do you want to put more effort in our teamwork, or do you want to train at the base?" Benjamin had been holding back his desire. "After we get hitched, I can't be left hanging."
Daphne's cheeks went crimson. She wanted to say something but was totally tongue-tied.
She tried to switch gears. "We'll talk about it after we tie the knot."
"Answer now, and I'll let you go chat with them," Benjamin insisted.
"You're such a jerk."
"Yup."
"Total rogue."
"Pretty much."
"Not keeping your word."
"Right again."
Daphne was fuming.
Benjamin watched her, a smirk playing on his lips. "Made up your mind yet?"
"I pick option three," Daphne's brain went into overdrive, and she started to slip away. "You handle it yourself."
With that, she wriggled out of his grip like a slippery fish.
Benjamin caught her again with ease.
Daphne tried to escape once more, and within seconds, they were in a playful tussle.
In the end, Benjamin let her go. No matter how quick Daphne was, she couldn't outmaneuver him.
Watching her dash off, his lips curved into a satisfied smile. He didn't care what she and Emma were scheming.
The next morning, Benjamin headed to House No. 6 to see Daisy while Daphne was still busy. Proposing needed the presence of important friends and family.
When Benjamin showed up in the yard, Daisy was outside with her kid. She recognized him right away. "Are you Benjamin?"
Daphne had shown Daisy his photo before, so she knew him, though he looked even better in person.
"Yeah, I'm Daphne's boyfriend." Benjamin stood outside. "Sorry for dropping by unannounced."
Daisy invited him in. Technically, this was Daphne's place, so Benjamin could come in anytime.
But since Daphne's friend was living there, he greeted Daisy before entering.
Daisy handed the kid to the nanny and poured Benjamin a cup of coffee before cutting to the chase. "What's up?"
"I'm planning to propose to Daphne on the 12th and hope you can be a witness," Benjamin said earnestly. "If there's a scheduling conflict, I can help adjust."
"No conflict; I'm free," Daisy replied right away.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
"Please keep this on the down-low from Daphne," Benjamin said just as Daphne's voice rang out.
"What secret are you keeping from me?" Daphne walked in, surprised to see Benjamin. "What are you doing here?"
What a timing!
Seeing their slightly awkward faces, Daphne didn't think much of it and went to check on Molly with the nanny. Molly had become more well-behaved over the past few months.
"Why aren't you talking?" Daphne asked after playing with Molly.
"You heard us say it's a secret from you; what else can we say?" Daisy replied smoothly, her face soft with a smile.
If it were someone else, they might suspect Benjamin and Daisy of having some secret thing going on.
But Daphne knew Benjamin and Daisy well, so she didn't suspect a thing.
