Chapter 647 The Exception in Life

Richard didn't respond, just drove in silence.

When they got home, Richard didn't stop Brian from entering, acting as if he didn't exist, opening and closing the door.

Brian noticed that Richard was still angry. As the door closed, he blocked Richard there, trapping him with one arm. "Can we talk?"

"There's nothing to talk about," Richard was more stubborn than most people.

"This time, I lied to you. I apologize," Brian admitted his mistake. "You can punish me however you want afterward, but can we first sit on the couch and sort out our feelings?"

"I'm tired," Richard said, pushing Brian aside and heading upstairs.

Brian called out to Richard's back, "Aren't you afraid that if I leave heartbroken this time, something bad might really happen?"

Richard paused, his whole body freezing.

"You're worried, aren't you?" Brian quickly walked up to Richard, grinning. "If you're tired, go ahead and sleep. By tomorrow noon at the latest, let's sit down and talk this out, okay?"

Richard didn't answer, quickly heading upstairs.

Seeing Richard like this, Brian felt a bit uncertain.

That night, the two were separated by just a wall.

Richard lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep despite being very tired.

Richard thought about what Charles had said and about Brian. If something had really happened to Brian that day, he was 100% sure he would regret it.

Even though he didn't want to admit it, Brian was special to Richard.

As for Brian, his mind was filled with thoughts of how to talk to Richard the next day and how to win him back.

Both of them spent most of the night thinking until they finally fell asleep around three or four in the morning.

The next day at noon.

They woke up almost at the same time.

The first thing Brian did when he saw Richard was greet him with a smile. "Morning."

"I'll give you half an hour," Richard took a step forward, which was actually quite difficult for him. "After half an hour, I'll have someone send you away."

Brian paused, and when he realized what Richard meant, his face lit up with happiness and excitement. "Okay!"

So, after a simple lunch, they started talking about serious matters.

Brian rubbed his hands, feeling a bit nervous. "Where should we start?"

"Why did you treat me like that back then?" Richard took the initiative to speak.

Brian had tried to explain to Richard before, but each time ended in an unhappy argument.

Back then, Richard was cold and stubborn, and Brian had a bad temper. Richard felt disrespected, while Brian felt distrusted.

As a result, their arguments were always unpleasant, and they eventually became like strangers.

"I thought I could deceive my parents first and then slowly explain everything to you," Brian knew it was his fault back then and had a good attitude. "I was very selfish at that time, thinking that since you were my lover, you should trust me no matter what I did."

Richard looked at Brian with cold eyes.

"I'm not finished!" Brian quickly explained. "Later, I realized that under normal circumstances, you should trust me. But in that situation, I should have explained to you immediately. Instead, I prioritized my status and so-called future over you, thinking I could explain everything to you afterward."

It could only be said that Brian was immature and inconsiderate back then, always thinking only of himself.

"I promise you, from now on, I'll put you first in everything," Brian spoke earnestly, his beautiful eyes full of sincerity. "If I break this promise, may I die a horrible death."

Richard didn't refute Brian. He didn't know about the future, but in the past few years, Brian had indeed treated him well.

"Give me a chance to make amends. I was young and reckless back then, but now I've matured and can guarantee that what happened before will never happen again," Brian faced his shortcomings bravely.

Richard remained silent, unsure of how to respond.

Brian knew what Richard was thinking. "I know you care a lot about the past and are afraid of being hurt again."

Richard looked at Brian, his eyes deepening.

Brian spoke directly, his handsome face serious. "As long as you don't drive me away, I can spend my whole life soothing your worries and fears."

"Your family won't allow it," Richard's psychological defenses were already weakening.

There are some people who will only love one person in their lifetime, and they have a severe emotional cleanliness.

And Richard was exactly one of those people.

Brian was special to Richard. Besides Brian, he had no feelings for anyone else.

In this lifetime, he would either stay single or be with Brian.

"Didn't you see the injuries I had a few years ago?" Brian brought up the past, showing how much he had changed. "When I left my family, I made it clear to them. Our family won't fall apart just because I'm not there."

"What if it does?" Richard knew Brian had certain talents.

Brian replied slowly, "That has nothing to do with me. I'm no longer part of the Harris family."

Brian's current achievements were all his own, without any help from the Harris family.

"I understand and appreciate your concerns," Brian continued talking to Richard. "As I said before, as long as you let me stay by your side, I can spend my life making up for it."

"There won't be any children of ours," Richard brought up another issue.

"I know," Brian had considered this. "It means we can enjoy a lifetime of just the two of us."

Richard instinctively picked up a water cup, his fingers rubbing the surface.

Brian noticed this detail.

Knowing Richard's pride, Brian took the initiative with a playful smile. "If you don't say anything, then it's settled. I'll have my things sent over, and we'll officially live together."

"Suit yourself," Richard indirectly agreed.

Brian moved closer, their distance shrinking. "Then I'll be counting on you."

"Rent is due once a year," Richard made it clear he wouldn't let Brian get too comfortable, putting down the cup and standing up. "Any damage to the furniture will be compensated tenfold."

"Can I not pay rent?" Brian shamelessly suggested, his charming eyes smiling. "I can keep you company in bed."

"Get out," Richard replied bluntly.

Brian continued to move closer.

Their relationship gradually improved.

Through Brian's actions, Richard realized that some people, even if they made mistakes, could still be exceptions in his life.

Brian couldn't lose him, and Richard felt the same.
