Chapter 631 Long Time No See

"My mommy and daddy are here. Let's go meet them," Diana said, grabbing Charles's hand and heading outside. "They're just as good-looking as you. I'm sure you'll hit it off."

Charles followed her, feeling a mix of emotions.

On the way, he asked, "Who says good-looking people always get along?"

"Because they just do," Diana replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Charles just pressed his lips together and stayed quiet.

Outside, Daphne and Benjamin were waiting.

Suddenly, Diana ran out, her voice cutting through the air. Holding Charles's hand, she excitedly announced, "Charles is here!"

Daphne and Benjamin, standing by the car, turned to look. Daphne seemed a bit taken aback when she saw Charles.

Charles slowed down and stopped a few steps away, his eyes on her. In a deep, raspy voice, he said, "Long time no see."

"Long time no see," Daphne replied.

"Mom." Diana, oblivious to the tension, asked curiously, "Do you know Charles?"

"Yes." Daphne nodded, admitting openly, "We used to be very close."

"That's awesome!" Diana was thrilled. After twirling around, she grabbed her mom's hand. "Can we invite Charles over? He's been looking after Louis and me all day, and he even bought us these clothes."

"Ask Charles if he wants to come over," Daphne said, patting her head.

Diana immediately turned to Charles, her innocent eyes making it impossible for him to say no. But then Charles glanced at Benjamin and said to Diana, "We need to get your dad's okay for this."

"No need to ask," Diana quickly replied with a grin. "Dad always listens to Mom. If Mom says yes, Dad will too."

"That's for other stuff. This is different," Charles insisted.

Diana was totally puzzled. Why was this different?

Determined to get Charles to visit, Diana went up to Benjamin, looked up, and asked, "Dad, do you agree to let Charles come over?"

"Didn't I tell you before? In our house, your mom has the final say," Benjamin said in a lazy, charming voice, a smile playing on his lips. "If she agrees, then I do too."

"But Charles said this is different," Diana said innocently.

"There's no difference," Benjamin said, ruffling her hair. "Take Charles to the car."

"Okay!" Diana was over the moon.

Despite his mixed feelings, Charles got into the car with them.

Daphne glanced back and, seeing Charles playing with Diana, said, "Thanks for today."

"No problem," Charles said, his lips parting slightly. His perfect features and pleasant voice were especially captivating. "The kids are adorable. Anyone would want to take care of them."

Diana beamed with happiness.

Meanwhile, Louis sat quietly by the window, not saying a word. He was now completely sure that Charles and Benjamin were rivals in love and that Charles had once liked Daphne.

When Louis got home, the first thing he did was look it up online. With his current hacking skills, finding some information was still pretty easy. And what he found left him a bit stunned: Charles and Daphne had been married?

Downstairs in the living room, the atmosphere was tense. Daphne and Benjamin sat together, while Diana was next to Charles. The nanny brought in some fruit and water, and they started an awkward conversation.

"Have some fruit," Daphne said lightly.

"Okay," Charles replied.

"Do you still have any aftereffects from your previous injury?" Daphne asked.

Over the years, Daphne had occasionally asked Brian about Charles's health. Brian had once given Charles a psychological suggestion, and combined with his injury, she had always been worried about a relapse.

Although Brian had assured her that everything was fine, she still wanted to ask Charles directly.

"No," Charles replied. "I've fully recovered."

"That's good," Daphne said, feeling a bit relieved.

Diana tilted her head and asked worriedly, "Charles, were you injured before?"

"Yes," Charles said, rubbing her head, finding Diana very cute. "But I'm fine now."

"Did your mom blow on the wound for you?" Diana, being an innocent child, asked with a beautiful face. "Every time I'm in pain, Mommy blows on it for me, and it gets better."

Charles smiled but didn't answer.

Even though so much time had passed, he still sometimes wondered: if Brian hadn't given him that psychological suggestion, would he have had the courage to pursue Daphne and win her back?

Today, Charles suddenly understood that he wouldn't have. He and Daphne had always been two extreme personalities.

He had hurt her deeply, and she was heartbroken over their marriage. Once she left, she wouldn't come back.

When Charles realized Daphne hoped he wouldn't bother her again, he truly respected her wishes, fearing he might hurt her a second time. Given their personalities, once people like them part ways, there was really no chance of reconciliation.

If not for Brian, Charles might never have had the courage to approach Daphne again.

"I have an unreasonable request," Charles suddenly said.

Daphne responded sincerely, "Go ahead."

"I want to recognize Diana as my goddaughter," Charles said, looking at Diana sitting next to him.

This thought had been in his mind for a long time, but he hadn't acted on it because he lacked the courage. But today, seeing Diana's adorable face, he suddenly felt compelled to say it.

Daphne paused, exchanged a glance with Benjamin, and then instinctively looked at Diana.

Charles asked again, "Is that okay?"

"You..." Daphne's voice caught in her throat, her expression full of complex emotions.
