Chapter 413 As Her Boyfriend, Shouldn't You Help Her?

In the evening, during Daphne's birthday bash, Evan and Kevin totally came through for her. Midway through the meal, they started raising their glasses, wishing her a happy birthday.

Of course, the drinks weren't really for Daphne to chug all by herself.

"Daphne, happy birthday!" Kevin and Evan chimed in together.

Daphne clinked glasses with them.

Evan, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses, shot a meaningful look at Benjamin and said, "Aren't you gonna help Daphne with the drinks?"

"It's her birthday, a couple of drinks won't hurt," Benjamin shrugged, not catching on to Evan's plan. "Even if she gets tipsy, I'll make sure she gets home safe."

"It's not just a couple of drinks. After Kevin, Emma, and the rest, everyone's gonna take turns toasting her," Evan said, laying it on thick. "Daphne's not great with alcohol. As her boyfriend, shouldn't you step in?"

Benjamin thought for a sec.

Yeah, as her boyfriend, he should probably help her out with the drinks.

After a quick look at Evan, he stepped in when Dominic and the others toasted Daphne, saying coolly, "I'll drink for her."

"Isn't that kinda off?" Dominic asked.

"It's Daphne's birthday," Sam reminded.

"Right, she should drink herself," Dominic agreed.

Kevin jumped in, all serious, "It might've been off before, but now Benjamin's her boyfriend. It's normal for a boyfriend to help his girl with drinks, right?"

"Indeed," Evan added, all smooth.

Dominic and Sam exchanged a look, decided it was cool, and clinked glasses with Benjamin.

After a few rounds, Zoey and Emma caught on.

They glanced at the four guys, genuinely impressed with Daphne.

How did she get these four to get Benjamin drunk?

Even Evan was in on it.

Daphne gave them a look and whispered, "Aren't you gonna help me?"

Zoey gave her a thumbs up and stood up to clink glasses with Benjamin.

Once they started drinking, it was hard to stop.

At first, they just wanted Benjamin to have a couple of drinks. But as it went on, they got bolder, coming up with all sorts of reasons for him to drink.

Normally, Benjamin would've said no, but they kept bringing up Daphne, leaving him no out.

"Benjamin, wishing you and Daphne endless happiness."

"Hope you tie the knot with Daphne soon."

"Hope you and Daphne have a baby soon."

All sorts of blessings were thrown his way.

Benjamin downed one glass after another, and even with his good tolerance, he was feeling a bit woozy.

He knew he was kinda drunk.

"Let's call it," Benjamin said before Kevin could speak, his voice a bit rough. "Daphne's the star tonight. Let's focus on her birthday."

"It's cool," Daphne said, watching it all go down.

While everyone was drinking, she'd already sent the bodyguard to grab a ring sizer.

As long as Benjamin got drunk, she could measure his ring size.

Then, she could get the ring custom-made.

"Daphne said it's cool, Benjamin, just one more drink," Kevin said, pouring him another glass, his youthful face looking particularly handsome. "If you get wasted, Daphne can take you home."

Benjamin's eyes landed on Daphne.

Sensing his gaze, Daphne poured herself a glass.

So far, she’d only had one drink, so no biggie.

Benjamin caught on quick, then clinked glasses with Kevin and poured himself another drink.

When clinking glasses with Daphne, Benjamin leaned in a bit closer and whispered, "Why do I feel like they're all trying to get me hammered?"

"What?" Daphne looked all innocent.

Her face stayed calm, but inside, she was a bit jittery.

Was Benjamin really that sharp?

Benjamin didn’t see anything off on her face and kept testing, "Wasn’t it you who asked Evan and Kevin to get me drunk?"

"Nope." Daphne shook her head.

She glanced casually at Evan and Kevin.

Seeing her like this, Benjamin, with his eyes slightly glazed from the booze, felt a bit confused. Was it just his imagination?

"If you don’t wanna drink, then don’t," Daphne advised seriously.

Benjamin still kept drinking.

Half an hour later, everyone had finished eating.

Benjamin was initially just a bit tipsy and fully in control, but as the alcohol kicked in, he started feeling a bit off.

On the way back from the restroom with Zoey, Daphne saw Evan and Kevin waiting there.

"You can safely take Benjamin home," Evan said, his lips curving into a gentle smile. "I've been watching, Benjamin handles his booze well."

"When he's drunk, he's super chill and doesn’t talk much," Kevin added.

Zoey asked, "What do you mean take him home?"

"Daphne plans to take Benjamin home," Kevin said matter-of-factly. "But she's worried that after taking Benjamin home, he might..."

Daphne made a soft sound, making Kevin, Evan, and Zoey all look at her at the same time.

Evan, always sharp, sensed something was off. "You're not planning to take Benjamin home?"

"I am." Just haven’t set the date yet.

"Does getting him drunk have nothing to do with taking him home?" Evan asked.

"It does." Not really.

Zoey clicked her tongue, thinking, 'I never expected Daphne's lying skills to be this good; she's so serious and calm now. Looks like I need to warn Emma to be careful, or she might get tricked someday.'

"You," Evan paused, choosing his words carefully, "are not lying, huh?"

Daphne paused, wanting to confidently say no.

But hearing Evan's serious tone, she changed her words, "I lied a little. I want to test something, but I can't tell Benjamin directly, so I need your help."

"Test what?" Evan asked curiously.

Daphne said directly, "Can't say."

Evan and Kevin were a bit surprised.

"Keep this a secret for me." Daphne worried they might spill the beans and added, "Don't let Benjamin know."

Evan and Kevin were about to speak when they saw Benjamin, slightly drunk, standing not far behind Daphne.
