Chapter 668 Shouldn't You Support It?
Louis didn't know how Charles figured out he was afraid of those projects.
Fortunately, Louis had already mentally prepared himself when Charles brought it up, so he didn't give himself away.
For a while after that.
Louis no longer joined in Diana and Caspian's playtime. Every day when Diana excitedly took Charles and Caspian out to play, he stayed home and played by himself.
In fact, it turned out that Diana and Caspian were just as happy without Louis.
During the time Louis didn't participate, Diana was happy every day. Although she looked tired when she came back, it was clear she was very satisfied.
In the blink of an eye, it was December 26th.
After dinner, Diana seemed a bit down.
Both Charles and Louis noticed, and Louis spoke first, "What's wrong?"
"Can we come back after we go home for New Year's?" Diana's face lacked its usual smile and happiness, and there was a bit of worry in her eyes.
"If I leave, Caspian will be alone again," Diana said seriously. "What if his dad comes back and hits him again?"
"Don't worry. I'll protect him for you," Charles promised her.
Diana bit her lip, "But..."
Louis and Charles both looked at her.
Diana hesitated but finally spoke up, "Caspian is too quiet. If I don't play with him, he probably won't say a word all day."
"You want to stay in Ivrea City?" Louis picked up on Diana's implication.
Diana's eyes lit up, and she tentatively asked, "Can I?"
Louis came over, opened her watch, and pulled up Daphne's phone number. "You can ask Mom yourself."
Diana puffed up in anger.
Louis was so annoying. She didn't dare to ask Daphne directly, so she thought she could convince Louis and Charles first and then have them talk to Daphne for her.
The phone rang quickly.
Diana quickly hung up and glared at Louis. "Louis!"
"I'm just a kid. I can't help you with something as important as staying in Ivrea City," Louis said seriously. "Charles can't help you either. You have to ask Dad and Mom."
"They won't agree," Diana knew very well.
Although Benjamin and Daphne were very good to them in many ways.
But for this matter, a child's intuition told her it was impossible.
"Whether they agree or not, you should ask yourself," Louis reasoned with her, though he wasn't sure if she would listen, "If you want to stay, you have to fight for it, even if the effort doesn't change the outcome."
Charles glanced at Louis. How could a four or five-year-old say such things?
Just then, Diana's smartwatch rang.
It was Daphne calling back after seeing Diana's missed call.
Diana was very nervous, her eyes fixed on the incoming call display, feeling a bit uneasy.
"Sooner or later, you have to face it," Louis said bluntly, his childish voice carrying a mature attitude, "Answer it."
Diana glanced at him and, amidst various emotions, answered the call.
As soon as the call connected, Daphne's gentle and concerned voice came through, "Diana."
"Mom," Diana's voice dragged a bit.
Daphne unconsciously sat up straight, a bit worried, "What's wrong?"
"Can I discuss something with you?" Diana said nervously, her pretty eyes darting around, and she couldn't help biting her finger.
Hearing this, Daphne's heart relaxed a bit.
She replied in a light and gentle tone, "Go ahead."
"I want to stay in Ivrea City for school," Diana's voice was barely audible, getting quieter towards the end. "Is that okay?"
Daphne thought she was hearing things.
She put the phone on speaker and brought it to Benjamin, then asked Diana again, "What did you just say?"
"There's a very lonely little boy here. He's very good-looking and smart," Diana began, not knowing that Benjamin was also listening. "I want to stay here for school and play with him."
Daphne glanced at Benjamin, whispered, "You say something."
Benjamin was a bit confused. "Huh?"
Daphne continued, her voice still low, "I'm the gentle and caring mom in front of them. You're relatively stricter."
Benjamin lightly tapped her nose and took on the role of the "bad guy", then he raised his voice and said, "No."
"Dad?" Diana was stunned.
Benjamin's voice was really pleasant, "Yes."
"Really no?" Diana said pitifully, starting to act cute. "I'll be good and won't trouble Charles. I promise to get good grades in every exam."
"You really want to stay there?" Benjamin asked back.
Diana thought there was a chance and was very happy, "Yes!"
"Impossible," Benjamin still refused her as before.
Diana puffed up in anger. "Dad!"
"Any other questions?" Benjamin asked casually and directly.
"I'm staying here because of Caspian," Diana continued, "Didn't you always say to help others? I'm staying here so Caspian can grow up happily."
"And then?" Benjamin asked back.
Diana said seriously, "I'm doing a good deed. Why don't you support me?"
"Good deeds should be supported," Benjamin said slowly, his tone unhurried. "But it shouldn't cost my daughter's future."
"Let Mom take the phone," Diana immediately changed her target. "I'll talk to Mom."
Benjamin looked at Daphne, raising an eyebrow. "Diana wants you."
Daphne thought, 'why don't you just say I am busy?'
"Mom, are you there?" Diana tentatively asked.
Daphne pursed her lips and replied in a normal tone, "Yes."
"What do you think about what I just said?" Diana asked, making a promise, "I promise to study well here and be good. I'll come back during holidays."
"It's not good for you to stay there." Daphne thought of a way.
Diana blinked in confusion. "Why?"
"You often follow Charles around, which will make it hard for him to find a girlfriend," Daphne said seriously, "Didn't you always want Charles to get married and have a baby?"
Diana's gaze fell on Charles, and she suddenly realized, "Oh, right."
Charles whould get married in the future.
If she stayed by Charles' side, some people might have opinions, which would affect Charles' happiness.
