Chapter 621 Not Worthy of You

"In my opinion, if this girl can make you hide out in Gedser, she must be something special," Austin said, completely ignoring Charles' words. "If I'm not mistaken, she must be special to you, right?"

"Kaitlyn is special to you too?" Charles blurted out.

Austin frowned. "Is she like Kaitlyn?"

"No," Charles quickly denied.

Austin was curious. "Then you..."

"Just do as I say," Charles cut him off before hanging up.

Austin felt there was more to the story, but with Charles staying tight-lipped and Mark not spilling any details, he was left in the dark, despite his suspicions.

Just as he was about to fall asleep that night, Laura sent a message.

She was asking if Austin knew why Charles went to Gedser. Although he was curious, Austin replied as Charles had instructed, and Laura didn't press further.

The next morning, Austin and Selene took a flight to Gedser.

Daisy had no idea Austin had brought Selene along.

After dropping Molly off at school, she stayed home to go through the scripts her agent had sent her, planning to carefully select one.

Around two or three in the afternoon, Daisy got a call from Austin.

"I have something I want to discuss with you," Austin said, sounding a bit nervous as he stood in another residence with Selene. "Are you available?"

"Yeah, go ahead," Daisy said, still holding the script.

Austin glanced at Selene in the living room from the balcony, took a deep breath, and said, "My mom is here."

Daisy looked puzzled. "And then?"

"I went back and talked to them about us, and my mom agreed," Austin tried to be clear with Daisy to avoid any misunderstandings. "She wants to meet you."

Daisy stayed silent. She really didn't want to meet. She didn't want to deal with the hassle or hear any more harsh words. But Austin had gone back specifically to mend the relationship. If she didn't go, it would seem like his efforts were wasted.

"Don't worry, I'll be there too," Austin seemed to know what Daisy was thinking and reassured her. "I won't let you be wronged."

"When?" Daisy asked.

"How about tomorrow at noon?" Austin suggested tentatively.

If he suggested tonight, Daisy would definitely refuse. She didn't like sudden, last-minute plans.

Daisy thought for a moment and agreed.

They talked about a few other things before Austin hung up.

The next day came quickly.

Austin had planned to pick Daisy up, but she refused. The three of them met at a restaurant.

After a few years, Daisy was calm, no longer nervous or worried like before. She greeted Selene naturally, "Mrs. Hill."

Selene didn't quite know what to say. The atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Austin had them order their meals.

After that, he started the conversation, speaking to Selene. "Didn't you have something to say to Daisy? Now that she's here, you can talk to her."

"I..." Selene hesitated.

Daisy took a sip of water. "Feel free to say whatever you want."

"Austin told us the story about you and him," Selene hesitated but finally spoke. "If you two want to get married, we have no objections."

Daisy was taken aback.

She knew how much Dennis and Selene disapproved of her and Austin. If they had even a bit of liking for her, they wouldn't have come to Gedser to warn her back then.

Why agree now?

"Also," Selene pursed her lips, struggling with her emotions but finally speaking. "I apologize for the harsh words I said to you back then. I'm sorry."

For the first time, Daisy didn't know how to react. This situation, these words, she had never expected.

"Will you forgive me?" Selene asked again.

"What's past is past," Daisy replied, neither saying she forgave her nor that she didn't. "We should all look forward."

Daisy couldn't say she forgave Selene. The harsh words back then had caused her significant psychological stress. If insulting and humiliating someone could be resolved with a simple apology, the cost of making mistakes would be too low.

The meal was heavy with unspoken thoughts, and after the initial conversation, it was almost entirely silent.

After the meal, Austin took Selene back before going to find Daisy, who was planning to rest, as if the lunch had no impact on her.

"You said you went back to Ivrea City to handle things. Is it to talk to your parents about us?" Daisy asked him.

Austin admitted. "Yes."

"Why?" Daisy asked.

"What do you mean?" Austin was a bit confused.

"With your family background, it would be easy to marry someone better than me," Daisy said casually, but she was genuinely puzzled. "Why go to such great lengths just to be with me?"

"Because I like you and want to be with you legally," Austin said bluntly.

Daisy's eyes flickered.

"I don't need you to give me an answer now, nor will I force you to be with me," Austin continued, wanting to reassure her. "I'm doing this to show you that I'll solve all the problems you're worried about. When you're ready to be with me, the only thing you need to consider is whether I'm worth it."

Daisy looked up at Austin. "What if I still don't want to marry you?"

"Then I'll stay with you for the rest of my life," Austin blurted out.

"What if I want to be with someone else?" Daisy asked again.

Austin paused. His previously relaxed expression turned serious when he saw Daisy's serious face, feeling a sting in his heart. "Are you talking about that young, handsome guy who was pursuing you?"

Daisy was about to say no, that it was just a hypothetical.

But Austin spoke first. "If it's him, I don't agree."

"Why?" Daisy was curious.

"He's an idol. If you're with him, his fans will always harass you," Austin said directly, considering many factors. "He doesn't seem like someone you can rely on."

"He said his fans like me and want us to be together," Daisy said.

Austin's emotions were complicated. "In any case, it's not okay."

Daisy asked, "What about the male lead in my last movie?"

"Also not okay."

"Why?"

"He's not good-looking enough, not a match for you."
