Chapter 30 Is there anything I can help you with?
"I'm not sure. I asked her, but she didn't tell me," Mr. Murphy answered after a moment of silence. When he planned to investigate, Daffy asked him not to interfere and said she would handle it herself.
Yesterday, when he asked for the results, she just changed the subject and reminded him to pick up Lydia from the hospital.
Lydia hesitated to speak. She didn't know if she should tell her father.
Mr. Murphy noticed and asked her, "What's wrong?"
"Daffy didn't tell you, probably because she didn't want to put you in a difficult position," Lydia calmed herself and guessed.
"What do you mean?" Mr. Murphy was taken aback.
"When I was being attacked, I saw someone outside the alley, Sophia's brother," Lydia recovered, and her memory gradually became clearer. "After I told Daffy, she asked me not to tell you."
Mr. Murphy's gaze paused.
Lydia really wanted to see Daffy and her father reconcile. "I don't know what happened between you two, or why your relationship turned out like this, but since you both care about each other, why can't you sit down and talk it out?"
Mr. Murphy remained silent, a layer of guilt enveloping him. He also wanted to have a good conversation with Daffy. But he knew that Daffy would never forgive him in her lifetime.
"You're still young," Mr. Murphy still didn't tell her. "When you grow up, I will tell you."
"I'm already nineteen, legally an adult," Lydia corrected, feeling a lot of emotions inside. "I'm not the little child who only knew how to cry for candy and cry when faced with difficulties."
Mr. Murphy still didn't speak.
Between him and Daffy, there was an understanding that they should not tell Lydia about that matter until she found happiness.
Lydia felt frustrated.
Her sister didn't say anything, and neither did her father. Did they want to keep it a secret from her forever?
"Beep, beep," her phone received several messages.

Kevin: [Daphne ran into Charles!]
Kevin: [Charles is causing trouble for Daphne intentionally. Come help!]
Lydia opened the images and saw Daffy and Charles facing off in a fancy private room.
Even through the photo, she could feel the tension between them. They might start fighting at any moment.
"Peter, go to Blooming Restaurant," she quickly spoke, a hint of urgency in her voice.
Blooming Restaurant was a members-only restaurant in Gedser, frequented by celebrities and influential people in the business world. It was impossible for ordinary people to get in.
According to Kevin, looking at the photo that Kevin sent, this seems to be a business gathering dinner. Besides Daffy and Charles in the photo, there are also many familiar faces.
Mr. Murphy noticed her emotions and asked, "What happened?"
"Daffy and Charles encountered each other," Lydia explained, "I don't know the specifics. Kevin only told me that Charles made things difficult for Daffy and embarrassed her."
"Peter, take a shortcut," Mr. Murphy's emotions instantly flared up upon hearing it involved Daphne.
Kevin's heart was now racing. He had been forced by his father to come here, claiming it was to introduce him to a legendary figure in the business world and help him build connections. But he never expected that the legendary figure his father mentioned would be Charles. And most importantly, Daphne was also here!!!
"Not even able to finish two bottles of wine, and you dare to come and discuss a collaboration?" Charles sat at the head, his handsome suit exuding an air of indifference. "Do you really think this is a place where you can make money solely based on your looks?"
Daphne felt a headache coming.
She came here to trouble the Murphy family. Tony, Sophia's older brother, seemingly had no involvement in Lydia's ordeal, as it appeared to be Joe Brown's doing, but in reality, the main reason Joe acted that way was because of Tony's cunning suggestions.
Legally, they couldn't do anything to him, so she had to come personally. She would warn anyone who posed a danger to Lydia. She just didn't expect to encounter Charles here.
"I'm not in the mood to argue with you today," she summarized in one sentence.
"Mr. Lancelot offered you a drink to save face. What are you still standing there for?"
"I don't know how this restaurant operates, allowing a woman like her to mix in."
"But I have to say, this woman's appearance is quite charming."
Kevin sat there, not daring to make a sound. It wasn't because of the words spoken at the table, but simply because he felt that these people were provoking trouble. Anyone who had treated Daphne like this in the past would now avoid her at all costs!
"Mr. Lancelot, this woman needs to be taught a lesson." Tony looked well-dressed and proper, but his words sounded like those of a thug. "Take her back to the hotel and teach her a lesson, and she'll behave."
Charles glanced over with cold eyes and calmly replied, "Is that so?"
"Of course!" Tony's leering eyes glanced at Daphne, "If Mr. Lancelot wishes, I can arrange a room at the hotel and send her there now."
The others subtly furrowed their brows.
They couldn't understand how someone of Mr. Lancelot's status would invite someone like Tony to dinner. Not to mention that Tony's company was just a small to medium-sized enterprise, his character of being unable to resist women was just baffling.
"Okay," Charles agreed, adding, "But I don't want anyone to touch her beforehand."
After speaking, his inscrutable black eyes fell on Daphne, and a fire burned within him. This guy needs to be dealt with.
She was divorced and sold without even knowing!
"Don't worry, Mr. Lancelot!" Tony laughed cheerfully, feeling confident. "I guarantee that she'll be delivered to your room intact, so you can enjoy yourself when you return."
Charles didn't speak, but his expression grew dangerously dark.
If it weren't for trying to find out about the Murphy family from him, he wouldn't eat with this trash at all.
He had already dismissed his suspicions about Daphne, but then he accidentally found out that this guy had been investigating the incident with Lydia and had even successfully handed Joe over to the police.
How could he be so concerned about Lydia's case if he was just a bodyguard?
"Well, that's not good..." Kevin reluctantly spoke up.
The moment he said this, both Charles and Daphne's attention was drawn to him.
The former had a profound gaze, while the latter issued him a warning.
"Mr. White, what's wrong with Kevin?" Charles's voice was deep and magnetic. Although his tone seemed calm, it exerted a strong pressure.
Kevin instinctively looked at Daphne but couldn't bring himself to say what he wanted.
Daphne's gaze was terrifying.
Whimper, whimper, whimper!
Unfortunately, Charles saw Kevin's cowardice and interpreted it as his concern and reluctance toward Daphne, afraid to speak up due to the pressure of power.
So he said again, "Do you think it's a shame to bring her back because she's beautiful?"
"Kevin absolutely doesn't mean that," Mr. White Sr. sensed Charles's displeasure and understood the subtleties of the business world. "Please don't be angry, Mr. Lancelot."
