Chapter 20 Really Want a Divorce
It was already half past twelve when she arrived at the airport.
The closest flight from Ivrea City to Gedser was at 2:00 PM. As soon as she got out of the car, she went to the counter and asked if anyone had returned their tickets.
All the tickets online were sold out, so she could only hope that someone would cancel last minute.
But the results were often disappointing.
Just at that moment, two people appeared behind her.
A calm voice tinged with a hint of coldness suddenly sounded, carrying a slight anger, "You want to escape right after filing for divorce?"
Daphne froze.
When she turned around, she saw Charles in a suit and Mark.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but the flight to Gedser today is already full," the staff member spoke clearly and with a great attitude. "If you're not in a hurry, you can take the 8:00 AM flight tomorrow."
"No, thank you," Daphne declined.
The plane tickets were sold out, and there were no more high-speed train tickets either.
She could only drive back, but the distance from Ivrea City to Gedser was just too far.
With her ID in hand, she walked towards the exit of the airport, feeling an unprecedented heaviness in her heart.
"One refund for the 2:00 PM ticket to Gedser," Charles realized that she was in a hurry and casually spoke to the staff member at the counter.
"?"
He asked with a hint of confusion, "Who did you cancel your ticket to collaborate with?"
"Who said I canceled?"
Mark halted, immediately understanding.
"Please show your ID," the staff member asked.
Charles looked over, and Mark handed his ticket and ID to the staff member, completing the process in no time.
The staff member also called for Daphne, who had turned back.
When Daphne received her plane ticket, her emotions were complex.
"Thank you," she knew that Charles intentionally canceled it.
"No need," Charles was as cold as ever, taking the briefcase from Mark's hand. "After you board the plane, explain the escape properly."
Daphne didn't retort, nor did she feel like retorting.
Just the thought of the person still in the operating room made it impossible to control her worries.
Charles noticed her distraction and took out his phone, sending a WhatsApp message to Mark: [Arrive in Gedser before noon tomorrow.]
Mark: [Alright, boss.]
Two o'clock sharp.
The plane officially took off.
Daphne sat next to Charles, separated by an aisle.
"What are you going to do in Gedser?" Charles initiated, his gaze now filled with a hint of scrutiny.
"There's some family matter in the hospital. I'm going back to take a look," Daphne replied calmly, without hiding anything.
Charles paused for a moment.
After considering, he asked, "Do you need me to accompany you?"
"No need."
"Which hospital?"
"Not sure yet."
The phone call came in a hurry, and Daphne's heart has not been at ease since the moment she heard about Lydia's accident.
To the point that upon hearing Lydia had a head injury and was unconscious, she immediately rushed out without asking about the hospital or the reason. She just wanted to get back as soon as possible.
"After getting off the plane, I'll accompany you there." Charles made the decision directly, without giving her a chance to refuse. "You find out which hospital."
Daphne continued to decline, "I said no need."
"I am not discussing it with you." Charles's gaze turned slightly cold. "Since I came to Gedser with you, it's only right for me to visit."
Daphne remained silent.
She had already made up her mind to disappear after getting off the plane.
During this time, Daphne kept her eyes closed, and Charles occasionally looked at her face. As he saw the exhaustion and worry on her face, he always wanted to reach out and gently smooth the slight frown on her forehead, allowing her to sleep peacefully.
Three hours later.
The plane arrived at Gedser International Airport.
As a first-class passenger, they had the privilege to disembark first.
Daphne and Charles left quickly.
When they reached the airport exit, Charles stared at the person beside him who was frequently checking their phone and asked, "Did you find out the hospital?"
"Still asking."
"I see."
"I'll go to the restroom first." Daphne stuffed the phone into her pocket, her expression not showing any difference from before.
Charles didn't notice anything abnormal and agreed.
Half an hour later.
A person from Gedser's branch company, who came to pick him up, reminded, "CEO, half an hour has passed."
Charles paused.
Only then did he realize that Daphne may have taken a little too long in the restroom.
He dialed her number from the contact list. It rang once and was immediately hung up on the other end.
Before he could dial again, Daphne sent a WhatsApp message: [I'm leaving first. Thank you for the plane ticket.]
Charles's face turned gloomy.
"CEO?" The person in charge of Gedser's branch company panicked.
"Go to the company," Charles said coldly.
Once inside the car.
Holding back the anger in his heart from Daphne's actions.
He decisively opened his email, entered the recipient's email address, and composed the message: [Help me investigate someone, Daphne, female, from Gedser. Here is her photo [picture]. As long as you can find all her information, the reward is up to you.]
This was the year he was nineteen when he met a hacker online.
They rarely kept in touch, but whenever either of them had difficulties, they would help each other without hesitation.
It had been a long time since their last contact.
At the same time.
On Daphne's side.
She sat in the passenger seat of a white sports car, listening to the person besides her babbling incessantly. The speed at which they spoke seemed like an attempt to say everything they hadn't said in the past two years at once.
"Daphne, are you even listening to me?" Kevin, wearing a sunny and energetic casual outfit, had a face full of youthful innocence.
Daphne didn't give him any face, saying, "You're too noisy."
Kevin: "!!!"
He immediately felt wronged. "Do you not love me anymore?"
"Say one more word, and believe me, I'll throw you out of the driver's seat," Daphne replied concisely.
Kevin instantly became obedient.
Daphne was very angry.
There would be serious consequences!
Daphne couldn't help but worry as the distance to the hospital got closer and closer. "Is Lydia really okay?"
"Don't you know my sister's medical skills?" Kevin knew she was worried, so he didn't beat around the bush. "The moment she found out about Lydia's accident, she volunteered to treat her. She knows how important Lydia is to you."
Daphne relaxed a little.
Before getting off the plane, she hadn't expected Kevin to wait for her at the airport.
She was surprised when she saw his message after getting off the plane. Only after getting into the car did she find out that he had arranged to pick her up at the airport after finishing a call with dummy dad.
Kevin happened to be at the hospital with dummy dad and immediately took on the task of picking her up.
These idiots weren't afraid that she wouldn't make the 2 o'clock flight. Did they really wait for her at the airport for nothing?
"Buzz." The phone suddenly vibrated twice.
She casually unlocked and opened the screen, and saw that her long-unused email account had received an email.
