Chapter 626 Promise This Is the Last One

Daphne shrugged. "Okay."

Just "Okay"? Austin felt disappointed.

Seeing Austin still hanging around, Daphne asked, "Anything else?"

"Aren't you curious why he came to Gedser?" Austin wanted her to guess, but he forgot Daphne wasn't the curious type. She rarely asked questions unless it was something super specific.

After a short pause, Daphne said, "Not really."

Austin didn't say another word and left.

Meanwhile, at the Fisher family home, Gilbert's usually stoic face showed a flicker of emotion when he saw the unexpected guest. "Why are you here?"

"To talk about a collaboration," Charles said, barely moving his lips, but his presence was intense.

Collaboration?

Gilbert looked puzzled. "I don't remember us having anything to collaborate on."

"Haven't you been looking for a design teacher for Hestia?" Charles was always prepared. "I can introduce you to Lyanna Patel, but you have to do something for me."

Lyanna Patel, the internationally renowned designer, was someone every designer dreamed of working with. Hestia was no exception.

Gilbert frowned. "What do you want me to do? If it goes against my principles or costs too much, I'm out."

Gilbert was helping Hestia chase her dream of becoming a designer, just to keep Lon and Noe close. If the price was too high, it wouldn't be worth it.

"I heard your kids are close to Daphne's kids," Charles said straight up. This was his best shot at meeting them. "I want you to invite them over alone."

Gilbert got more cautious. "What do you want with them?"

"Just a simple meeting," Charles replied.

Charles had thought about meeting Louis and Diana at an event, but it would be too public. Asking Molly to bring them over would put Daisy in a difficult position. So, it was better to go through someone Daphne and her family didn't know well.

"It's no secret about you and Daphne." Gilbert didn't agree right away. "Who knows if you just want to meet or have other plans?"

"The meeting will be at your house," Charles clarified. "If you're worried, add more bodyguards or have someone watch me."

Gilbert was even more confused, trying to figure out Charles's angle.

Charles asked, "Are we doing this or not?"

"This isn't just about collaboration." Gilbert glanced upstairs where Lon and Noe were studying. "Diana's been keeping her distance from the kids lately; they haven't played together for days."

'Did they have a fight?' Charles wondered.

"I can let Lon try, but no promises," Gilbert finally said after thinking it over.

"Alright," Charles agreed. "As long as you try your best, I'll introduce you to Lyanna."

Gilbert went upstairs to call Lon.

When he mentioned inviting Diana over to play, Lon's eyes dimmed a bit. "Diana's brother doesn't like her playing with us. She's been sticking with him these past few days."

"Invite both Louis and Diana," Gilbert said, ruffling Lon's hair. "Tell them our playground is finally done and invite them over to check it out."

"Can I really?" Lon asked.

"Yes, you can."

After a bit of internal struggle, Lon went to invite them.

When Diana heard that Lon's playground was finished, she was super excited. She kept pleading with Louis, her voice soft. "Louis, let's go. I haven't had a chance to play at Lon's playground yet."

"All playgrounds are the same. If you want to play, do it at home," Louis said, not budging.

"It's different," Diana insisted, shaking his arm, almost in tears. "I promised Lon I'd go when his dad finished building it. If I don't go now, I'd be breaking my promise."

Diana kept pleading, "Didn't you always say we should keep our promises?"

"How long will we stay?" Louis finally gave in.

"We'll be back after dinner!" Diana brightened up and promised, "If we stay a minute longer, I'll stand in the corner for ten minutes."

"You said it."

"Yes, I said it!" Diana confirmed.

Louis quickly grabbed a notebook, wrote down their agreement, signed it, and handed it to her. "Sign it."

Diana did as he asked without hesitation. She was already planning to play with Lon and Noe as much as possible once they got there.

After getting permission from Daphne and Benjamin, Lon and the driver picked up Louis and Diana.

Diana sat on the far left, with Louis and Lon next to her.

Diana looked at Louis sitting beside her and poked his arm. "Louis, can we switch seats?"

"No," Louis refused flatly.

"Diana," Louis said.

"Calling my name won't help," Louis said indifferently.

"I want to sit in the middle to see the front view," Diana made an excuse, "It's boring to always look out the side windows."

Louis's face was cute, but his eyes showed little emotion. "Are you sure you want to see the front view?"

"Yes!" Diana nodded eagerly.

Louis glanced at Lon sitting on his other side, then asked Diana, "What if you're not?"

"I'll stand in the corner," Diana blurted out.

Louis stared at her for a moment but eventually switched seats with her.

Once Diana sat in the middle, she smiled and discreetly poked Lon, lifting his mood instantly as he quickly took out a candy from his pocket and handed it to her, saying, "Here."

"Thanks, Lon!" Diana took it, her eyes curving into a cute smile.

Lon was happy too; this was the closest they had felt in days.

Lon, usually aloof and cold, was now warm. "Do you want me to unwrap it for you?"

"Yes!" Diana agreed without hesitation, handing the candy back to him, eager for another chance to interact with Lon.

At that moment, Louis interjected, his eyes on their clasped hands. "What did Mom and Dad tell you the other day?"

"I promise this is the last one," Diana's big, cute eyes pleaded, "If I eat another one, I'll be punished with no candy for a year."
