Chapter 164 Should the CEO Reconsider

Besides Daphne, he'd had no such impulses towards anyone else, not even Kayla from back in the day.

With that thought in mind, he pulled out his phone and started searching the web.

His face darkened instantly when he saw the internet responses.

[Playing the domineering CEO here, having impulses for just one person, huh.]

[If you ask me, this is just not enough.]

[Not good enough means not good enough, let's not make excuses for him, who lives such a chaste life?]

[I think this could be love, very few men are naturally chaste, but when they encounter someone that they like, their emotions naturally stir, and that's normal.]

The last comment caught his eye and held it for a second longer.

Gavin leaned in to see what he was reading, but Charles had already turned off the screen.

"If all those questions I asked you still haven't convinced you whether or not you like Daffy, then there's one more thing you can try," Gavin was all set on bringing this handsome man home for his Daffy.

Charles didn't quite know what to make of it all, sitting there calmly, having a serious conversation with a drunk, "What's that?"

"When you like someone, you want to get close to her, talk to her, be in contact with her, be a part of her world," said Gavin earnestly, even though he was drunk, he didn't forget to add, "Of course, I exclude the creeps."

These words stirred something in Charles.

He wanted to be closer to Daphne and have topics to discuss with her, but most importantly, he didn't want to be absent from her world.

Just the thought of being completely erased from Daphne's world flooded him with a sense of helplessness.

"So, that means it's like?" Charles asked.

"Of course!" Gavin declared.

After Gavin said those words, he slumped and passed out onto Charles's shoulder.

Gwendolyn and Mark were seated quite a distance away, catching only fragments of conversation between their bosses.

Mark couldn't help but gossip with Gwendolyn when he noticed their boss sitting with an air of cool aloofness and elegance, allowing Mr. Murphy to lean on him. "Gwendolyn, do you think your CEO might have some kind of interest in our boss?"

‘So close!’

They kept on whispering to each other.

Most importantly, his boss, who was known for being a clean freak, didn't push the person away this time.

Dressed in a suit, Gwendolyn blurted out, "I'm even more worried than you are."

Mark was shocked. Did he uncover some secret? Could it be that Gavin from Miss Murphy's company is actually...?

‘If that's the case, isn't our boss in danger?’

"What... what do you mean by that?" Mark panicked. After all, their boss was pursuing Miss Murphy.

In that moment, Mark's mind raced with a dramatic soap opera scenario!

"It's nothing," Gwendolyn realized she had spoken too much and coughed softly to cover it up. "Don't worry, our CEO is into women, and he definitely wouldn't be interested in your boss."

Mark gave her a skeptical look, ‘You just said you were more worried than me! And now you're telling me there's no interest. Isn't that contradictory?’

"Gwendolyn," Charles noted that Gavin had indeed passed out, and his crisp voice carried a hint of authority as he spoke.

Gwendolyn snapped to attention, "Mr. Lancelot."

"You go on ahead," Charles’ gaze deepened, "I'll take Mr. Murphy home."

Gwendolyn, "Huh???"

He instinctively objected, "There's no need to trouble Mr. Lancelot, I'll take the CEO home. He’s picky about his sleeping arrangements; he might not sleep well in a different place."

Charles glanced at the sleeping man, then shifted his gaze back.

Gwendolyn fell silent. This seemed a bit like a slap in the face.

Charles raised his hand, nudged Gavin awake, and called out his name, adding, "Do you want Gwendolyn to take you home, or shall I?"

Gavin's mind was a muddled mess.

‘Daffy's here?’

He didn't pay attention to whether the voice was male or female, and, mistaking it for Daphne, he weakly pointed a finger at Charles, "You."

Gwendolyn froze.

Mark was questioning his entire existence, ‘What did he just hear?!!! The boss called Mr. Murphy?’ Given the boss's character and presence, he didn't seem like the kind to call out to anyone with such informality.

Miss Murphy's Gavin seemed to trust their boss a bit too much. Leaving the secretary behind? Choosing someone he had only recently come into close contact with?

"Do you want to reconsider, CEO?" Gwendolyn was on the verge of a breakdown, "Or should I take you home, Ni...?"

"No need," Gavin muttered something groggily and even waved his hand dismissively, clearly trying to shoo her away.

Charles's chilly gaze turned toward Gwendolyn, the atmosphere around him forbidding enough to instill fear, "Are you not leaving Gwendolyn, or do we need to make sure you get home as well?"

"No, no... no trouble, Mr. Lancelot," Gwendolyn quickly demurred.

‘Why leave him to face such a formidable man alone? Why was Mr. Lancelot not staying at his Ivrea City headquarters and instead coming to Gedser? Wasn't Bill running the Gedser branch office well?’

He stood there, hesitant. As much as he didn't want to leave but if the CEO chose Mr. Lancelot, he couldn't protest.

And if the boss was with Mr. Lancelot, he should be safe, right?

Hopefully...

"Mark, take Gwendolyn home," commanded Charles, his thin lips parting slightly as his eyes were already calculating his next move.

"No need! I'll walk," Gwendolyn insisted on refusing, not wanting to spend another minute with Charles, "Well... please take care of our CEO, Mr. Lancelot."

"Mmm," Charles responded, his expression growing deeper.

Gwendolyn looked back twice as he walked away, but ultimately, he left the private room first.

Once outside, he took out his phone to search for news, simultaneously switching to a secondary WhatsApp account to ask in his group chat.

Gossip Newbie: [Sorry to interrupt, but does anyone know Mr. Lancelot of the Lancelot Group’s hobbies? Would sending him a man be, okay?]

The moment that message appeared, the chat exploded.

[Are you insane, thinking of something so risky!]

[The last person who had that idea and acted on it was tormented by Charles's men beyond recognition.]

[Don't even talk about men, even sending women ends up badly.]

[Speaking of which, I remember Tony once sent a woman to Charles, and it seemed to have worked.]

[For real?!]

[Dang! Isn't he supposed to steer clear of women?]

Suddenly, the conversation veered off in a completely different direction.

Seeing that Charles had no interest in men, Gwendolyn relaxed about the CEO's safety, but... Charles had accepted a woman sent by someone else?
