Chapter 307 The Prearranged Mysterious Grand Prize
Daphne was racking her brain, trying to figure out what Benjamin wanted. Most things she saw daily were trivial, except for HorizonTech Group.
She glanced at Benjamin, feeling uneasy. HorizonTech Group was her and Jesse's hard work, and handing it over didn't feel right.
"Benjamin," she said, surprised he wanted it.
He raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?"
"I can't give you that," she hesitated. It wasn't about being stingy; HorizonTech Group was too significant. "If you really want something, pick something else."
Benjamin felt a pang but kept his cool demeanor. "What if I only want this?"
"No other option?" Daphne asked.
"No," he replied.
Daphne was troubled. She never noticed his interest in the company before. Why now?
Seeing her distress, Benjamin finally said, "I was joking. Why are you taking it seriously?"
Daphne looked at him, knowing he wasn't joking. He had been serious.
"Why so serious?" Benjamin teased, tapping her forehead. "I said I was joking."
Daphne pursed her lips, deciding. "I know you don't joke around."
Benjamin thought, 'Is she trying to push me away?'
"You must have a reason for wanting HorizonTech Group," Daphne said seriously. "But it's not just my work; it's many people's effort. If you really want it, I can give you half my shares but not the whole thing."
Benjamin wasn't greedy or after fame. If he wanted HorizonTech Group, it must be for some research or patent.
In that case, giving it to him wasn't a problem.
Benjamin was stunned, then chuckled. This idiot Daphne, when did he ever say he wanted HorizonTech Group?
"If that's not enough, I can give you a majority share," Daphne added.
"Daphne," Benjamin said, feeling both amused and affectionate. "What am I going to do with you?"
"What's wrong?" Daphne asked, confused.
Did Benjamin have such big ambitions?
Seeing her confusion, Benjamin tapped her again lightly.
Daphne held her head, puzzled. "Benjamin,"
"When did I ever say I wanted HorizonTech Group?" Benjamin teased. "How do you come up with these things?"
"Didn't you say it?" Daphne felt wronged. "You said you see it almost every day; I can give it to you anytime, but giving it willingly would be tough."
Wasn't that HorizonTech Group?
Other things were cheap and mass-produced.
"I did say that," Benjamin admitted, thinking she was a bit slow. "But I wasn't talking about HorizonTech Group."
"Then what is it?" Daphne asked.
"Guess," Benjamin replied.
"I can't guess," Daphne shook her head.
"Then write it down. When I'm ready, I'll come to you for it," Benjamin said, not wanting to continue the conversation. If she kept guessing, she might think it was Jesse next.
"I know," Daphne suddenly said.
Benjamin had a bad feeling. "What?"
"Is it Jesse?" Daphne asked seriously. "I heard from Evan and the others that you set up a training base. Are you planning to start a business but lack experience?"
If that was the case, it was simple. She had plenty of experience and could help Benjamin.
"The training base was applied for," Benjamin said lazily, sure she wouldn't guess it. "Stop guessing. You won't get it."
They stood there a bit longer, not continuing the previous topic. The first prize had been drawn, and they started distributing participation awards. The host announced a hidden grand prize among the participation awards. Daphne and Benjamin's share was brought up.
"What's the grand prize?" Benjamin asked curiously.
"I don't know. Jesse arranged it," Daphne said seriously.
Benjamin took the gift box from the bag and opened it while chatting with Daphne. "Is your company's welfare the best?"
"I don't know," Daphne replied. She hadn't done market research and didn't know much about other companies. Her idea was simple: improve work efficiency, avoid overtime, and arrange good employee benefits so everyone would be happy and dedicated at work.
Benjamin saw what was inside the gift box: an unopened iPad and two letters. One was a general New Year's greeting that everyone received. The other, he handed to Daphne, speaking lazily, "Could this be the grand prize the host mentioned?"
Daphne took it. There were only a few words: A fully paid house in Gedser.
"It should be," Daphne said calmly. "Did you win?"
Benjamin's lips curved slightly, his eyes filled with amusement. If this wasn't rigged, he'd eat the paper.
"Prepare the documents tomorrow, and I'll have someone handle the house transfer for you," Daphne said seriously. "Which district do you want?"
Benjamin glanced at the words and declined, "No need."
"This is a company reward; you can't refuse," Daphne insisted.
"Daphne," Benjamin called.
"Hmm?" she responded.
"Do you like me?" Benjamin asked directly, even though he knew her answer.
Daphne was confused. 'How does this relate to liking?' she thought.
Benjamin took the letter with the house written on it, rubbing the paper. "Do you really think I don't know this was arranged by you?"
"It wasn't," Daphne tried to argue.
"Don't be so good to a man," Benjamin said seriously, but his eyes were filled with affection. "If things come too easily, he won't want to work hard."
