Chapter 728 Filter

Caspian knew it wasn't good and could easily consume Diana's affection for him, but some emotions were uncontrollable.

"Then let's do it tonight," Diana blinked her beautiful eyes with a bit of cunning. "This way, you'll be mine, and no matter what happens, I won't leave you."

Caspian's eyes flickered.

Diana pressed on, "How about it?"

"Is that a promise?" Caspian paused for a moment and asked.

Diana nodded. "Yes."

After considering for a while, Caspian agreed, "Okay."

Diana was a bit dumbfounded. It seemed she never expected him to agree.

"Really?" Diana teased him.

Caspian confirmed, "Yes."

"Didn't you want to save it for the wedding night?" Diana was genuinely puzzled, thinking about his previous stubbornness and persistence. "Why did you suddenly change your mind?"

"As long as you don't leave, I can do anything," Caspian was silent for a moment before speaking.

If Diana liked it and promised not to leave him after doing it, he could change his perspective.

"Fool." Diana found Caspian increasingly adorable, hitting her in a soft spot. "Aren't you afraid I'll regret it after we do it? Don't worry, I'll only like you."

Caspian pressed his lips together and didn't speak again, but he had some other thoughts in his mind.

He secretly sought out a culinary master to learn how to cook. He wanted to win her heart through her stomach. But those were matters for later.

After work that afternoon, Caspian and Diana went to Charles' place. They were going to Gedser and wanted to inform Charles before leaving.

After dinner, Diana received a phone call.

Taking advantage of this gap, Caspian chatted with Charles.

As they talked, Charles noticed Caspian had something on his mind. After a deep look at him, he directly asked, "Something on your mind?"

"No," Caspian was mature and steady in front of everyone except Diana.

"Your expression says otherwise," Charles' voice was very pleasant and steady. "If there's something, just say it, it's just the two of us."

Caspian pressed his lips together.

After a while.

After a while, he slowly spoke, "Do you know how to win someone's heart?"

"You mean Diana?" Charles guessed correctly.

Caspian's voice was soft, "Yes."

"Just be good and sincere to her," Charles suggested.

Caspian was still thinking, his heart tangled in knots.

Charles didn't rush him.

"Do you think being well-matched in social status is important?" Caspian asked another question.

Although Diana had told him countless times, the disparity still made him feel inferior. He always thought Diana deserved better.

"For most families, it is important," Charles gave a brief analysis, speaking very plainly. "But for the two of you, mutual affection is enough."

In terms of personal identity, experience and knowledge, Caspian and Diana were evenly matched.

The only difference was their family background.

But now, Diana had everything, so she didn't care about being well-matched in social status anymore.

"Actually, true compatibility isn't about family background, but about values," Charles explained, his voice gentle. "But values are formed by one's experiences. You and Diana aren't much different in this regard, so there's no need to worry."

This was why people with vastly different family backgrounds often found it hard to be together.

"I'm afraid she'll regret being with me in the future," Caspian finally voiced his thoughts.

Charles patiently asked, "Why do you think that?"

"Everyone around her is excellent, with much better family backgrounds than mine." Caspian had been comforted by Diana before, but now that they were going back to Gedser, these strange thoughts resurfaced. "I'm not the best choice for her."

"You are my best choice," Diana came down and said straightforwardly. "Apart from our birth which we can't control, you're not inferior to anyone."

Caspian paused. He didn't expect her to come down suddenly.

"Didn't I tell you before?" Diana sat beside him. "Why are you getting tangled up again?"

"Once we confirm with your parents, we'll get engaged. I don't want you to regret it." Caspian was considering too many things, his mind sensitive.

Marriage was a major life event. He hoped Diana chose him after considering all aspects, not because of simple affection.

Diana didn't explain much, after a brief thought, she asked him a question, "Will you cheat after we get married?"

"No."

"Will you abuse me?"

"No."

"Will you be loyal to our marriage and only love me?"

"Yes."

"If an uncontrollable situation arises, and you need to take a bullet for me, will you do it?"

"Yes," Caspian answered each word very seriously.

"Isn't that enough?" Diana's last question was intentional, just to say the following, "I am above your life. Besides you and my family, no one else would protect me with their life."

Hearing her words, Charles secretly gave her a gesture, praising her for being good at comforting Caspian.

Diana's lips curved into a beautiful smile.

"If you're still worried about family background, I'll go back tomorrow and have my parents disown me," Diana's words always had a bit of a teasing tone. "Then we'll be a perfect match."

This conversation ended with Caspian not knowing how to respond.

Half an hour later.

Only Diana and Charles were left in the living room.

One sat with an air of nobility, the other lounged lazily.

"Logically, you've guided him for so many years, always steering him in a positive direction. He shouldn't still be affected by his childhood," Diana popped a chip into her mouth, chatting with Charles. "Why is it getting worse now?"

"Because of you," Charles said meaningfully.

Diana paused her chip-eating. "Why?"

"You're too wonderful," Charles gave a simple explanation. "Plus the filter of a first love, he can't help but feel inferior."

If it were anyone else, even someone more powerful, Caspian wouldn't have this mindset.

But Diana's appearance was like a light shining into his life, adding a touch of warmth and hope to his dark childhood.
