Chapter 665 Just This Once
Diana's eyes lit up instantly. "Really?"
"Yep," Charles said, his voice full of affection.
"Can we go to the amusement park?" Diana asked, a bit hesitant. "Caspian's pretty introverted and probably hasn't been to one much."
"Of course," Charles replied.
Diana fidgeted with her fingers, her eyes darting around.
Charles noticed she had more on her mind and asked, "Anything else you want?"
"Can we book the whole place?" Diana pulled out her credit card and scratched her head. "I think Caspian doesn't like crowded places."
If the amusement park was too packed, Caspian would definitely feel uncomfortable.
She wanted Caspian to have a blast.
"Sure," Charles agreed to all her requests.
Diana jumped up happily, repeatedly saying Charles was the best.
Louis's first reaction upon hearing this was to refuse, "You guys go tomorrow, I'll stay home and read."
"You can read anytime, but Caspian only gets to hang out with us for one day." Diana held his hand and used her usual tactic of acting cute to persuade Louis. "Come with us, please?"
"No," Louis refused.
Louis didn't need to guess to know what Diana would want to do tomorrow.
They were all adventurous activities, and he had no interest in risking his life on those machines.
"Louis, I know you care about me the most." Diana clung to his arm, her voice soft and her big eyes adorably pleading. "If you don't go, I won't have fun either."
Louis knew Diana was lying and that she was acting.
But faced with her adorable eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say no.
"Please?" Diana continued to act cute.
Louis looked away from her, trying not to agree too quickly. "Let me think about it."
"If you come with me, I'll listen to everything you say from now on," Diana said. "I'll study hard and not play around, and I'll help you with your work without a word of complaint."
"Louis," Diana's voice was slightly raised, making her sound even cuter.
Louis pursed his lips and looked at her, finally agreeing, "Just this once."
"Okay!" Diana smiled happily and started praising him again. "I knew you cared about me the most."
"Didn't you just say Charles cared about you the most?" Louis was a bit particular about this.
"Louis is number one! Charles is number two." Diana, being perceptive, smiled.
Louis gave Charles a somewhat smug look.
Charles remained unfazed.
Back at home.
While Louis went to his room to shower, Diana sneaked over to Charles and said, "What I said earlier was to make Louis happy. In my heart, you care about me the most."
Charles tapped her nose.
Diana smiled. To her, it was important to praise Louis when he was around because he genuinely cared for her.
When Louis wasn't around, she also needed to praise Charles to keep everyone happy.
The next morning, before Louis and Diana got up, Charles went to find Caspian. No one knew what he said to him, but when Diana and Louis got up, they saw Caspian waiting in the living room. Diana was over the moon.
She hadn't expected such a big surprise first thing in the morning.
"Caspian!" Diana ran towards him with a big smile, radiating cheerful energy.
Caspian's eyes stayed indifferent, and he only gave a faint nod in response.
"Caspian, have you had breakfast?"
"We're going out later. Where do you want to go? How about the amusement park?"
Diana greeted Caspian enthusiastically.
Hearing Diana's chatter, Caspian didn't feel annoyed like he usually did. Instead, his usually calm and unruffled heart felt like a ray of sunshine had shone into it.
Seeing that Caspian didn't respond to her chatter, Diana tentatively asked, "Caspian, do you hate me talking like this?"
"No." Caspian replied indifferently.
Even though he was just a kid, he was very quiet and introverted.
Diana sat next to him and said seriously, "If you ever don't want to hear me talk, just tell me to be quiet."
"Okay." Caspian replied.
When Louis came downstairs after washing up, he saw Diana and Caspian chatting animatedly on the couch, even though it was mostly Diana talking and Caspian barely saying a word.
Louis looked at Charles, who was sitting on the couch reading financial news, and asked quietly, "How did you get Caspian to come over?"
"I just walked over and called him." Charles replied with a useless answer.
Louis thought, Charles was just like Benjamin.
Louis didn't ask further and just sat next to him, watching the financial news together.
He didn't really understand some of the complex situations in the news, he watched it to learn some adult language and official terms.
"Do you want to watch cartoons?" Charles treated Louis like a child and asked.
Louis replied politely, "No, thanks."
"Don't you have any hobbies a kid should have?" Charles looked at him curiously, genuinely wondering how Louis's mind worked.
Louis said, "Puzzles, Lego, programming."
Charles pursed his lips and said nothing.
Louis, seeing him sitting there indifferently, was still curious.
For example, what had happened between Charles and Daphne before?
Why did they get divorced?
"Charles." Louis decided to probe a bit.
Charles didn't think much of it. "Yes?"
"Why did you make Diana your goddaughter?" Louis guessed the reason but asked to lead into his next question. "When did you meet my mom?"
"We've known each other for a long time." Charles's expression showed a hint of nostalgia. "As for why I made Diana my goddaughter, you can have a guess."
"Because she's cute?" Louis said seriously.
Charles replied, "That's one reason. But not the biggest one."
"What is it then?" Louis knew the answer but wanted to see if he was right.
"I can't tell you yet." Charles didn't want to give Louis any unnecessary psychological burden. "I'll tell you when you're older."
