Chapter 432 Daphne Wants a Baby

Just before Daisy popped out, Austin had already ducked outta sight, not showing his face.

Daphne caught the whole thing but played it cool. She just helped the nurses wheel Daisy back to her room.

Daisy had a natural birth.

The nurses ran through the do's and don'ts, then bounced after handing over the baby.

Daphne had never popped out a kid herself and only knew from the internet that it was like, super painful, making folks question their life choices.

"How you holding up?" Daphne asked.

Daisy, looking a bit wiped, glanced at the baby and said, "I'm good now. It was crazy painful before she came out, like, I swore I'd never do it again. But now, it feels worth it."

Daphne peeped at the baby, all wrinkly and kinda funny-looking.

Daisy caught her drift and joked, "Think she's ugly, huh?"

Daphne, feeling a bit guilty, said, "Nah, not really."

"Most babies look like this when they're fresh out. She'll look better in a few days," Daisy said with a smile, eyes full of love for the little one. "They grow up fast."

Seeing Daphne's curiosity, Daisy offered, "Wanna hold her?"

Daphne bit her lip, "Can I?"

"Of course," Daisy laughed.

Daphne took a deep breath, slowed her movements, and carefully cradled the baby.

Even though she thought the baby looked kinda funny a moment ago, holding that tiny body made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Daisy noticed and asked, "Thinking about having one?"

Daphne glanced at her, thought for a sec, and nodded.

She hadn't felt much before, but now, with the tiny life in her arms, she thought life was pretty amazing.

After a bit, she put the baby down to sleep.

For the next while, Daphne stuck around Daisy most of the time. With Jesse handling all the business stuff, she had it easy.

She set up a sweet spot for Daisy to recover, knowing she loved performing, and even got her some top-notch postpartum care.

Everything was on point, from physical to mental care.

At first, Daisy was like, "No way," seeing the fancy, comfy place, knowing it cost a bomb.

But when Daphne told her she needed to get back in shape to rock her career, she agreed.

Daisy spent a month there, with Daphne hanging out for the first half. Later, when work called, she dropped by every afternoon.

Daphne also sorted out all the baby paperwork for Daisy.

The baby's name was Molly Lysandros.

Time flew, and a month zipped by.

During that month, Daphne watched the baby change every day, turning super cute and soft.

To make sure Daisy got back to her best, Daphne had her stay at the recovery spot for over forty days. She planned for longer, but Daisy made a break for it.

Daphne had no choice but to take her back. Unexpectedly, Daisy spotted Austin chilling downstairs when they were leaving.

Their eyes locked.

Austin's first instinct was to bolt. He had promised not to bug her and wanted to keep it.

"Austin," Daisy called out.

Austin froze up, feeling like his feet were glued to the ground, his whole body stiff as a board.

Daisy didn't know what had come over her. Maybe it was having a baby, or maybe the recent therapy sessions, but she seemed to have suddenly come to terms with a lot of things.

"Want to see her?" Daisy asked casually.

This wasn't a mall or a restaurant; Austin had no reason to be here.

Unless he knew she had given birth.

Daphne was a bit worried and called out, "Daisy."

"It's fine," Daisy said calmly. "He's Molly's dad. I can't just let the kid have only one parent."

Daisy had a rough childhood, but she wanted Molly's to be better. At least, she wanted her to have a dad around for a while.

Austin's heart skipped a beat, and he turned around slowly.

His eyes locked onto Daisy's face. He tried to say something, but the words just wouldn't come out.

His eyes said it all.

After a moment, Austin finally croaked out, "Can I?"

Daisy was all about the baby now, not so much about herself. She replied, "You're her dad. You have the right to see her. Unless you don't want to..."

"I do!" Austin blurted out.

He walked over, each step feeling heavy, stopping just a step away from her.

It had been so long since he had been this close to her.

"I..." Austin started but couldn't finish.

Daisy didn't say anything, just looked down at the baby sleeping peacefully.

Austin's hands twitched at his sides. After what felt like forever, he hesitantly asked, "Can I hold her?"

"Do you know how?" Daisy asked.

Daphne was curious too. She had known how to hold a baby since she was a kid, taking care of Lydia after she was born.

But back then, she was too young to really feel anything, just knew she had a cute little sister.

"I do!" Austin said quickly, wiping his hands on his clothes, clearly nervous.

Daisy hesitated. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, but Molly was so tiny and fragile.

Afraid she wouldn't believe him, Austin added, "I went to a training camp. I know how to hold a baby and change diapers."

Hearing this, both Daisy and Daphne looked at him.

Daphne's eyes flickered.

So after getting beat up by Benjamin, Austin hadn't shown up because he was at a training camp?

Austin thought Daisy didn't believe him and emphasized again, but quieter since Molly was asleep, "Really."

It wasn't just about the baby. Austin had also learned how to make his wife happy during pregnancy, and what to do during the childbirth process and postpartum. He learned it all.

He did all this to make sure that when Daisy needed him, he would be there—not just to feel surprised and happy, but to truly be able to help her.

Daisy was conflicted but agreed to let him hold the baby. "Be careful. She just fell asleep," she reminded.

Austin nodded.

Under Daisy's watchful eyes, Austin gently took Molly from her arms and held her like a pro.

Looking at Molly's soft face and closed eyes, he was filled with gentle affection and love, not wanting to let go.
