Chapter 680 Will We Really Never Interact Again?

"What are you thinking?" Diana retorted without a second thought. "Lon has someone he likes, don't talk nonsense."

"It is you," Eddy said. "You really don't know?"

Diana looked at him with disdain, clearly not believing it. "I'm leaving."

As soon as she finished speaking, Diana grabbed her car keys and drove away.

How could Lon possibly like her? During that summer before senior year, when Diana asked him if he had a girl he fancied, he said he did, and the personality and appearance he described were completely different from hers.

Diana didn't dwell on it and drove straight to find Daphne.

After spending two days with Daphne and Benjamin, she returned to the place she shared with Louis.

Time flew by, and soon it was Saturday.

Diana was in her room packing for her trip to Ivrea City.

Louis stood at her door, watching her place clothes into her suitcase one by one. He spoke up, "Lon said he wants to have a get-together tonight to see you off."

"Sure," Diana agreed without hesitation.

Louis stood there, full of thoughts.

Seeing that he hadn't left, Diana looked up and asked, "Anything else?"

"I want to ask you a question."

"Go ahead."

"If Lon really likes you and confesses to you," Louis thought he should help Lon test the waters, "would you really reject him like you said before and never contact him again?"

Diana looked at Louis with confusion. "What's going on with you guys?"

"What?" Louis was puzzled.

"Why does everyone think Lon likes me?" Diana couldn't understand what they were thinking. "Lon has someone he likes. If he hears you guys misunderstanding him like this, wouldn't it be awkward?"

"Everyone?" Louis caught the key word. "Who else told you so?"

"Eddy," Diana didn't hide it and said directly. "He said the same thing when I went to see him a few days ago."

Louis looked at Diana with a bit more scrutiny.

So many people said it, and she didn't have any doubts?

"So if he really likes you, what are you going to do?" Louis brought up the old topic.

Diana stopped packing and looked at him with a bit of feigned fierceness. "Still talking about it?"

"I'm curious."

"What else can I do? Politely reject him."

Louis felt like he had misheard. His handsome face showed some confusion. "Didn't you say before that you would directly reject him and never contact him again?"

"That was just something I said casually," Diana said seriously. "Lon is so good to me. In my heart, he's like a big brother. If I really never contacted him again, wouldn't that be heartless?"

"Really?" Louis was a bit skeptical.

Diana nodded. "Yes."

"Okay." Louis, having gotten the answer, breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced at the pile of things she hadn't packed yet and said, "Take your time packing, don't forget about tonight's dinner."

"Got it." Diana remained unaffected.

After Louis went to the study, he sent a message to Lon: [I tested her, she won't really cut off contact.]

Lon: [Really?]

Louis: [Yes.]

Lon was still a bit hesitant.

He knew very well that even if they wouldn't really cut off contact, their relationship would definitely change after a failed confession. They wouldn't be as close as before, and Diana wouldn't tell him about the things she encountered.

With various thoughts in mind, Lon pursed his lips and replied: [Maybe I should just forget about it.]

Louis: [?]

Lon explained his view: [It won't make any difference. Things are good as they are now.]

Diana liked Caspian, always had.

Even though Caspian had been out of her life for so many years, she never changed.

Lon was very clear about the place such a person held in her heart, just as she held a place in his.

Louis didn't reply. Matters of the heart were something he didn't understand and hadn't experienced.

Louis had told Lon about the possible outcomes of a confession. As for what Lon would choose to do, he wouldn't interfere.

But if it were Louis, he would try no matter what, even if the result was as expected.

Just so he wouldn't regret it for the rest of his life, wondering if things would have been different if he had taken the initiative.

That evening.

Louis drove with Diana to meet Lon and the others.

After having dinner together, they went to a club with various games to play.

Louis didn't participate the whole time, just sat on the sofa watching them play, watching Lon stay with Diana the entire time.

After playing one game, Diana stopped and said to Lon, "I need to tell you something."

"Hmm?" Lon was always patient and gentle with her.

"Do you know what Louis and Eddy said to me before?" Diana decided to test the waters.

She hadn't thought much of it before, but after packing in the afternoon, she thought it over. It wasn't strange for Eddy to say that, but Louis wasn't one to meddle in such matters. His sudden questions seemed a bit unusual.

Lon's hand paused for a moment, already knowing what she was going to say, but he pretended not to know. "What?"

"Louis and Eddy said you like me." Diana looked Lon in the eye as she said this.

Lon, having mentally prepared, responded naturally, "Isn't that something everyone knows?"

"Not like a brother likes a sister," Diana clarified, "but like a man likes a woman."

Lon still smiled and picked another game. "Tell them to get their eyes checked at the hospital, I'll cover the cost."

"You really don't like me?" Diana felt a bit relieved but still asked.

Lon responded naturally, "Do you want me to like you?"

"Not really," Diana began her final test. "just thought that having such a pretty girl around you all the time, you wouldn't be tempted."

"Louis is so good-looking, and you didn't fall for him," Lon replied naturally.

Diana was now completely convinced. This meant Lon also saw her as a sister.

"You're right." Diana smiled and continued playing games with Lon.

Watching Diana, who no longer had any doubts, Lon's hands were sweaty, and beneath his calm exterior was a heart racing uncontrollably.

For the next half hour, the two of them played together.

Watching their inseparable figures, Eddy nudged Louis with his elbow. "Look at them, no one would believe they're not a couple."

"Someone does," Louis said.
