Chapter 640 What Heals Pain is Love
"You don't have to say it; I already know you're reliable," Elara said with a warm smile. "Jesse, you're the one who makes me feel the safest in the world."
Jesse hugged her tighter, silently vowing to protect her from any darkness forever.
"Jesse." Elara's curiosity was suddenly piqued.
Jesse loosened his grip a bit and sat beside her, looking into her eyes. "What's up?"
"I want to ask you something." Elara's eyes flickered with uncertainty.
"Go ahead," Jesse encouraged.
"If that video had been real, and they really had forced me, would you still accept me?" Elara asked seriously, even though she knew deeply that society often blames the victims in such situations.
Jesse didn't hesitate. "Yes, I would."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"But don't some guys really mind that?" Elara pressed.
"I'd only feel sorry for you and take good care of you," Jesse said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders to show his feelings. "I'd use my love to heal the pain in your heart."
Elara smiled and kissed him on the cheek. She knew it; Jesse was the best person in the world.
"Elara," Jesse called her name, his eyes more serious than ever. "Remember my words, no matter what happens, I will always be your Jesse."
"Okay!" Elara laughed happily.
The cure for pain was wholehearted love.
That night, Jesse held Elara as they slept.
Maybe it was because she had finally talked about long-buried things, or maybe it was Jesse's tenderness and love, but she was too excited to fall asleep.
Around one or two in the morning, she turned over to face Jesse. In the faint light, she couldn't resist reaching out to touch his handsome face.
Jesse, sensing her movement, groggily opened his eyes. "What's wrong?"
"I can't sleep," Elara admitted.
Jesse pulled her closer, thinking it was because she had talked about her past during the day and might have nightmares.
"Try to close your eyes and relax," Jesse said gently, his voice low and soothing from sleep. "I'm right here and won't leave your side."
"I'm not afraid of nightmares," Elara guessed his thoughts. "I'm too happy to sleep."
Jesse was puzzled for a moment. Then he felt Elara's hand slowly slipped under his shirt as she whispered, "It's like a dream come true, you know?"
"I get it," Jesse said.
"No, yours is different from mine," Elara knew he was talking about repaying kindness. "For me, it's like a kid finally getting the candy they've always dreamed of. And as an adult, I secretly loved you, and it turns out you felt the same way."
"I understand," Jesse emphasized again. "It's like getting a precious treasure and not wanting to share it with anyone."
Elara paused, clearly not expecting him to say that.
Jesse asked her, "Isn't that right?"
"No," Elara, being different in personality, approached things differently. "It's like getting the treasure you've always dreamed of and wanting to announce to the world that it belongs only to me."
Jesse smiled and pulled her closer, giving her all his tenderness.
Elara was wide awake, and some mischievous thoughts came to her. "Jesse."
"What's wrong?" Jesse asked.
"Are you ready?"
"For what?"
"For your first time," Elara said, blinking at him with a bit of anticipation. "You said before you weren't ready, so I didn't push you."
Jesse thought, 'Shouldn't I be the one saying this?'
Elara asked again, "Did you do any research?"
"I did," Jesse's voice was low and cool, making it sound incredibly enticing.
"How did you research?" Elara was curious, as Jesse always seemed so indifferent. "Movies, anime, or what?"
"There are a lot of helpful posts online. I carefully read the ones with the most upvotes from girls," Jesse had done his homework; he didn't want Elara to have a bad experience.
Elara blinked. "How did you know they were from girls?"
"By excluding the men," Jesse replied.
Elara paused, initially thinking that was obvious, but then she realized what he meant.
"So, do you know how now?" Elara asked with some anticipation. She was already twenty-eight! She wanted to try it out.
"I think I do," Jesse wasn't entirely sure, as he had no experience either. "But I might not be very good at it. You'll find out on our wedding night."
"Can't we do it now?" Elara looked at him with anticipation.
Jesse froze, his Adam's apple bobbing under her gaze. Like Elara, he had been single until now and had never experienced it.
His life had always been calm, but for some reason, after holding Elara for several nights, he felt more impulsive than ever before.
"Sleep," Jesse said in a husky voice, holding her.
Elara turned over and lay on top of him, speaking directly and mischievously, "I want to try it before marriage. If you're not good in bed, I might have to reconsider."
Jesse, trying to keep his composure, said, "I'll do my best."
"Who knows," Elara teased, pinching his earlobe. "You only know after trying."
"How do you want to try?" Jesse asked.
"Just follow the normal steps." Elara felt his reaction and bit her lip. "How about it?"
"You have to try on wedding dresses tomorrow." Jesse's ears turned a bit red, but the dim light hid it. "If we follow the normal steps, you might have marks on you tomorrow."
Elara's cheeks flushed. She couldn't understand how Jesse could say such intimate things with such a cool voice.
"Let's sleep first," Jesse said gently, not wanting to tire her out. After all, he had some understanding of his own abilities. "It's late."
In other words, if they continued, she might not be able to get up in the morning.
Elara opened her mouth but eventually gave up. After giving him a kiss on his thin lips, she got off him and lay obediently in his arms to sleep.
Because of her actions and the previous movements, it took Jesse a while to calm down completely. He remained awake, worried that Elara might want to talk and wouldn't be able to sleep. Only after hearing the steady rhythm of her breathing did he allow himself to relax, Reassured that she was finally asleep, he held her close and drifted off peacefully.
That night, both of them slept exceptionally well.
Early the next morning, Jesse got up early to prepare breakfast for both of them. After eating, he accompanied Elara to try on wedding dresses.
