Chapter 22 Is She Okay

"Yes," Daphne said calmly.
"!!!!" No wonder.
While Charles' hidden information could possibly be found, there was absolutely nothing that Daphne had hidden that anyone could uncover.
The two of them continued chatting in hushed voices for a while.
Daphne's phone suddenly vibrated, and when she saw that it was Evan calling, she asked Kevin to look after Lydia and went out to answer the call.
However, as soon as she opened the door of the ward and walked outside.
She saw several figures appear at the corner, and walking in the middle was Charles, who had come to Gedser with her before.
She quickly stepped back and closed the door to the ward.
"What's wrong?" Kevin looked puzzled.
Daphne didn't say much, she took her phone and walked towards the balcony of the ward.
When Charles, in the corridor, saw a figure flash past and took steps to reach the ward where Daphne was, he stopped in his tracks.
One of the personnel from the Lancelot Group's Gedser branch asked, "Mr. Lancelot, what's the matter?"
They all looked lost!
They had agreed to go to the company, but ended up in the hospital halfway through!
"Who is staying in there?" Charles' thin lips slightly opened, his tone indifferent.
He caught a glimpse of a figure just now, resembling Daphne.
On the plane, she mentioned that she came to Gedser because her family had an accident and were in the hospital.
The person in charge quickly gave an answer, "It seems to be Lydia Murphy, the daughter of the Murphy Group."
"Knock on the door," Charles' gaze deepened, his voice steady.
The person in charge of the Lancelot Group branch hesitated, cautiously saying, "Aren't we supposed to visit the boss of the Smith Group?"
"The Murphy Group has cooperation with us as well, so it's only right for us to visit their daughter who is hospitalized," Charles said seriously, his low voice carrying magnetism. "Knock on the door."
The person in charge obediently went to knock on the door.
His intuition told him that things were definitely not that simple!
When has Mr. Lancelot ever cared about such trivial matters? Even if he really wanted to visit, he would entrust these things to them. How could he possibly come in person?
Definitely a conspiracy! With this thought in mind, Kevin honestly went to answer the door.
Upon hearing the knock, Kevin glanced instinctively towards Daphne's balcony and saw a man in a suit through the transparent observation window on the door.
"Daphne, it seems to be someone from the Lancelot Group," he said.
"You go deal with it," Daphne didn't want to meet Charles. "Don't let them in."
If she met him here, Charles would definitely think that she had ulterior motives for marrying him, and he might even suspect her of stealing business secrets.
She had no intention of discussing these matters with him right now.
Nor did she want to argue with him in Lydia's hospital room.
Kevin stood up and went to open the door, his messy bangs falling down, giving him a particularly youthful appearance.
"Who are you?" he asked as he opened the door.
"I am the director of the Lancelot Group's Gedser branch," the person in charge introduced himself, gesturing towards Charles. "This is our CEO, Mr. Lancelot. We heard that Miss Murphy from the Murphy Group is hospitalized and came specifically to visit."
"Thank you," Kevin casually replied.
Branch director: ...
Aren't you going to invite us in to sit?
Charles's gaze fell on the hospital room, exuding a strong presence.
Kevin stared at him for a moment.
He discovered a serious problem—the man was even more attractive than in the photos.
No wonder Daphne liked him.
"Is Daphne here?" Charles shifted his gaze to him, his dark eyes carrying an intimidating aura, and asked a trap-laden question.
Kevin didn't react immediately. "Huh?"
"This is a gift prepared for Miss Murphy," Charles diverted his gaze, took the item prepared for the Smith Group CEO from the director's hands, and handed it over. "Wishing Miss Murphy a speedy recovery."
"Thank you," Kevin accepted it.
And then, Charles left with those people.
The branch director was at a loss, looking at his empty hands, feeling anxious! They gave Mr. Smith's gift to Miss Murphy, so what would they give when they visit Mr. Smith later?
Kevin couldn't understand why these people did what they did. He placed the item on the table next to the hospital bed and continued to ponder what had just happened.
"I didn't expect you to react so well on the spot," Daphne complimented from a hidden spot by the observation window.
Kevin asked, "What do you mean?"
"Charles was intentionally testing you just now. Whether you said I was here or not, it would have exposed that you know me," Daphne said, relieved that he didn't blurt out anything. "I was actually afraid you would slip."
Kevin scratched his head and chuckled.
“Hey”, Kevin smiled and blurted out, "Actually, I was thinking that he looked more handsome in person than in the photos, and I couldn't really hear what he said."
“...”
"By the time I was ready to respond, he had already handed me the things and started walking away," Kevin said.
"Daphne, did you marry him because you liked his face?" Kevin finally found an opportunity to gossip.
Daphne nodded, "Kind of."
Charles's appearance perfectly matched her aesthetic.
Even though he eventually divorced her due to a crush, becoming a scumbag, she had to admit that his face was favored by the Creator. Up until now, whether it was in the entertainment industry or the fashion industry, she hadn't seen anyone better looking than him.
As for the people they were discussing about, they were currently chatting in the adjacent ward.
The branch director and others were waiting outside the ward, while Charles sat on a chair next to the hospital bed, looking at the handsome and arrogant man lying on the bed.
"Why didn't I realize that you were so compassionate towards others before?" Mr. Smith posed in a lively manner. "You even gave the things meant for me to someone else."
Charles replied, "I'll have someone buy you ten more later."
"Fuck." Mr. Smith bluntly cursed at him. "You better tell me why you suddenly came to the hospital. I don't believe you have such a good heart."
"Help me find out if Lydia has a sister," Charles slightly parted his thin lips, never hiding anything in front of this person. "Around twenty-four years old."
"Are you planning to divorce and marry her sister immediately?" Mr. Smith raised an eyebrow, not taking it seriously.
Charles remained calm and retorted, "The Lancelot Group is about to downsize, maybe they'll accidentally lay off your crush."
"You dare."
"Wanna try?"
"I've never heard of her having a sister," Mr. Smith cursed him shamelessly in his mind, reluctantly sharing the information with him.
Charles furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why are you asking about this?" Mr. Smith was confused.
"Nothing," Charles stood up, patting his hand twice on the gauze on his shoulder. "Take care of your injury, and when you're better, treat me to dinner."
Mr. Smith winced in pain, sucking in a cold breath.
As Charles walked to the door, he quickly said, "If you dare to make my future wife lose her job, I won't let you off the hook!"

My ex-wife is a Mysterious Boss
