Chapter 18 Why Cry

"Drive," Charles said calmly, his words carrying an unquestionable aura.
Mark started the car and drove out of the villa.
Deep down, he felt that if they got divorced, his boss would definitely regret it later!
Most importantly, he couldn't shake the feeling that Mrs. Lancelot had an extraordinary background. If she were an ordinary person, he could easily find out where she went to school, where she worked, and even dig up more information based on her alma mater.
Yet, apart from discovering that she was female named Daphne, he found nothing else last night.
"Mrs. Lancelot, would you like to reconsider?" Mark spoke up again while driving. "Our boss is good-looking, wealthy, and divorcing him would be a lost opportunity."
Though he feared his boss, he still dared to speak his mind on certain things.
Like their previous marriage, and now the upcoming divorce.
Daphne looked at the back of his head and calmly said, "No matter how good-looking or wealthy he is, he's still a jerk."
"......"
"......"
"Boss, would you like to reconsider?" Mark had to change the subject.
Charles gave him a highly oppressive gaze.
Ignoring it, Mark continued, "Miss Baker is your past, Mrs. Lancelot is your present. It wouldn't be wise to abandon your present for the past."
"Just drive," Charles replied, clearly displeased.
Mark continued driving and naturally added, "Then don't ask me to help you win back Mrs. Lancelot afterwards."
A chill ran through Charles' body.
Lately, it seemed like this family was giving
The tasks arranged were too few, which made him feel that he could interfere with his personal life.
The car continued to drive forward, and it was 8:50 when they arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Mark had already arranged everything and took the two of them to apply for a divorce.
As he watched the two of them fill out the forms, Mark pushed his gold-rimmed glasses and sent a message on his phone: [Rex, the boss and Mrs. Lancelot are getting a divorce.]
Rex: [?]
Rex: [Are you sure?]
Rex: [My brother loves Daphne, right??]
Mark: [Kayla has returned.]
Rex: [He's leaving his wife for a crush?]
Mark thought for a moment: [Yes.]
Rex: [Fuck!]
Mark: [......]
Rex: [Let them divorce. Besides the heartbreak incident, my brother hasn't faced any setbacks. Let Daphne dent his confidence a bit.]
Mark silently locked his phone.
Why did he think Rex would persuade the boss?
Just as he was about to check on the progress of the application, Rex's phone rang. He walked aside to answer, speaking in a low voice: "Rex."
"I forgot to ask earlier, how they will divide their assets when they divorce?" a casual voice came from the other end.
Mark thought for a moment and replied, "Apart from investments and financial management, their salaries and dividends will be split equally. They will also divide a most expensive supercar and a suburban villa."
"That's good." The voice on the other end said before hanging up.
Mark: "?"
That's good?
Are Rex and the boss really brothers?
Daphne and Charles completed the entire process and after everything was settled, they were told there would be a thirty-day waiting period. If they still wanted a divorce after thirty days, they could come to collect their divorce certificate. If one party refused, they could revoke it.
After understanding everything, the two of them left the Civil Affairs Bureau.
The whole process went very smoothly.
Mark drove them back, intending to say something more, but in the end, he didn't say anything. There was still a month of waiting period, no rush.
However, when he dropped them off at the villa, he realized that the situation was much more serious than he had imagined, and he deeply realized that Mrs. Lancelot truly wanted a divorce.
Even Charles hesitated when he saw the moving company's truck.
"Mrs. Lancelot." Mark noticed his boss's confusion and asked on his behalf, "Did you call the moving company?"
"Mm." Daphne nodded and got out of the car.
She quickly went to negotiate with the moving company, telling them to wait a moment while she packed her things.
Although she had lived here for a year, she didn't have many personal belongings.
Mark sensed that the atmosphere in the car was getting gloomy, so he turned his head and asked tentatively, "Boss, aren't you going to stop her?"
"Why should I?" Charles replied coldly.
"If Mrs. Lancelot really moves out, your marriage is basically over." Mark persuaded, "With Mrs. Lancelot gone, you two are practically divorced."
"You seem bored," Charles said, feeling increasingly annoyed by his words.
He glanced slightly, his gaze passing through the window and landing on the figure negotiating with the moving company. Looking at her unaffected mood, there was a growing heaviness in his heart.
In the next moment, he opened the car door and stepped out with his long legs.
"Just wait for me a moment, I'll finish packing in half an hour," Daphne explained to them, not expecting the moving company to come early.
"Okay."
The movers were very polite.
After finishing the negotiations, Daphne headed inside and happened to bump into Charles.
"You're moving out?" Charles stared at her without blinking.
"Yes."
"Why?"
Daphne was slightly puzzled, "Why what?"
"There's still a month until the divorce, you can live here during that month," Charles explained, his tone calm as always. "There's no need to move out so early."
"No need." Daphne refused, "I've already found a place. Since we're getting divorced anyway, it's better to move out sooner."
Seeing her firm attitude, Charles couldn't bring himself to say the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
Daphne didn't waste time talking to him, as she couldn't bear to stay here for even a moment longer.
Half an hour may be long or short, but Daphne swiftly packed all her belongings, two suitcases, and several boxes, with the fastest speed possible.
The movers loaded her things onto the car, one item at a time.
Mark watched this scene, standing beside Charles. He pushed his glasses up and said, "Boss, Mrs. Lancelot will be leaving soon."
"What do you mean?"
"After she leaves, she won't come back."
"..."
"Are you really willing to let her go?"
"Did you handle Kayla's matter?"
"Why did the suspected criminal hire a driver to run into her? Did the police get any results?"
Mark hesitated, then continued, "Boss..."
"Speak."
"I have a question for you."
Charles looked at him, his eyes indicating that he should hurry up and speak.
After a moment of silence, Mark asked, "Do you truly like Miss Baker?"
