Chapter 516 I Want to Make Mom Happy
Gavin didn't bug Louis with too many questions; cooking was never his jam anyway.
"Hey, no need to feel down," Gavin told Louis. "You're just four, man. Not many kids your age can whip up a meal, so chill."
Louis scrunched up his face. When did he ever say he felt down?
He just wanted to learn a dish to surprise his mom.
"But if you're really into it, hit up your grandpa and dad," Gavin suggested. "My dad has got some killer recipes your mom loves, and she digs everything your dad cooks."
Louis thought, no way he was asking Benjamin.
"Wait, Dad can cook?" Diana asked, all curious.
"Well..." Gavin had no clue either, so he just said, "Ask him when he's back."
For the next bit, Diana was busy with classes, homework, drawing, and hanging with Lon.
Louis, seeing Diana was all set, decided to stay out of her way.
He had a bigger mission: learning to cook.
Before Daphne got back from her trip, he was dead set on learning three dishes to surprise her.
So, whenever he was free, Louis headed to Alexander's place.
Alexander was kinda shocked to see Louis being dropped off by the bodyguard and driver. He was even more shocked when he heard why. "You wanna learn to cook?"
"Yep," Louis said, all serious.
"Is this for school?" Alexander guessed.
Not a crazy guess. Schools often gave little tasks like cooking to get parents and kids to bond and teach new skills.
But wasn't it break time?
"It's not for school; it's something I wanna do," Louis said earnestly, his eyes soft. "I wanna make Mom happy."
Alexander got it right away. "You're doing this for Daphne?"
"Yep!" Louis nodded.
"No need for that," Alexander said, knowing Daphne well. He ruffled Louis's hair. "As long as you and Diana are happy and healthy, your mom's already over the moon."
Parents just wanted their kids to be safe, happy, and healthy.
Beyond that, as long as they had good character, they were cool.
"I wanna do it," Louis insisted.
Louis knew Daphne didn't expect much from them, but he wanted to give her everything he could.
Alexander wanted to say more but stopped when he saw Louis's determined face. "Alright, I'll teach you. But let's agree that if you can't get it after a while, we won't push it."
"Deal," Louis agreed.
Alexander didn't have high hopes.
A four-year-old, no matter how smart, would find cooking too tough.
But he totally underestimated Louis.
In just two days, Louis had nailed the knife skills for chopping meat and even made a dish.
Seeing the dish that looked and smelled awesome, Alexander was floored.
Just as Louis was about to ask Alexander to teach him two more dishes, Emma rolled in.
Emma was rocking a biker jacket, looking super cool. As she walked in, she called out, "Louis!"
"Emma?" Louis looked puzzled, clearly wondering why she was there.
Emma greeted Alexander first, then turned to Louis, "I need a favor."
"What kind of favor?" Louis asked, a bit hesitant.
"I need you to act cute in front of Emery so he can see how adorable kids are," Emma said as she plopped down to chat.
Ever since they tied the knot, Emery had been blocking her from getting pregnant.
The reason was simple: he didn't want her to go through any pain.
Every time, Emma would say she loved babies and wasn't scared of a little suffering, but Emery wouldn't budge.
"You should ask Diana for this," Louis said, knowing his own skills in acting cute weren't exactly top-notch. "She's way better at it than me."
"Diana would probably bail." Emma knew Diana's personality well. "A super cute foreign boy just moved in next door. Knowing Diana, she'd ditch me to hang with him."
"You don't have to act cute on purpose," Emma thought for a moment and said. "Just be yourself."
Louis thought for a moment and agreed.
Emma had always been good to him.
If Emma needed help, he should step up.
After giving Alexander a heads-up, Louis packed his little backpack and suitcase and headed out.
As he was about to walk towards the car, his eyes locked onto Emma's motorcycle, and he couldn't look away.
The bike was so cool.
"Want to hop on?" Emma raised an eyebrow at him.
Louis really wanted to, but he held back and said softly, "I think this motorcycle isn't allowed to carry kids under twelve."
"Other motorcycles can't, but this one can," Emma said, pulling out a helmet and protective gear for kids. She smiled brightly. "I knew you'd dig it, so I got this motorcycle certified and approved."
Louis's eyes lit up instantly.
Emma helped him gear up and said, "Let the driver take your luggage."
"Okay," Louis said, a big smile spreading across his face.
It was clear he was stoked.
"All set," Emma said, her lips curving into a beautiful smile. "Let's go, hop on."
Louis nodded.
He handed his luggage to the driver and went with Emma.
When they got to the motorcycle, Emma pressed a button, and the back seat adjusted slightly.
This was to make it safer for Louis to ride, of course, within allowed conditions.
Once Louis was securely seated, Emma started the motorcycle and took off.
Considering Louis was on the bike, Emma didn't go too fast, but even so, the new experience made him super happy.
Louis had seen Daphne ride a motorcycle before and had always wanted her to take him for a spin.
But they both ended up getting scolded by Benjamin.
