Chapter 504 She Loves to Act Spoiled
So, in the afternoon, Louis had an even simpler excuse. When Gavin and Diana wanted to take him out, he just said he didn't wanna be out in the sun 'cause it was too bright.
"Yeah, the sun's kinda brutal today," Gavin said, wiping sweat off his forehead. It was summer, the hottest time of the year. "How about we hit up the ice world? It's cool in there."
"Sure," Diana said, always down for some fun.
Louis sighed and tagged along.
The whole day flew by.
Gavin and Diana had a blast.
Louis? He spent the morning in misery, and the afternoon was a snooze fest. For him, amusement park stuff was nowhere near as fun as diving into a book.
If Gavin knew this, he'd probably think Louis was a weirdo.
On the way home, Gavin got a text from Daphne: [Louis isn't really into amusement parks.]
Gavin shot back: [Diana told me he always picks the amusement park. How can he not like it?]
Daphne, who knew her kids inside out: [That's 'cause Louis knows Diana loves it, so he picks it for her.]
Louis had been a smart cookie since he was little.
But playing around? Not his thing. The only stuff that caught his eye was like LEGO.
Reading the message, Gavin glanced at Louis.
In that moment, Gavin had a flashback. When he was young, he used to take Daphne and Lydia out, but sometimes it was just an excuse to get out himself.
Wasn't Louis acting a bit too grown-up?
Thinking about it, Gavin texted Daphne the same question he asked Louis: [Don't you think Louis is a bit too mature? Like, he's got the mind of an adult. I seriously doubt he might have memories from a past life.]
Only super mature adults wouldn't be into kid stuff.
Louis's behavior was just too weird!
Daphne replied: [Stop overthinking.]
Gavin pursed his lips and dropped it.
When they got home, Gavin looked at Louis, who was quietly reading a book, and a wild idea popped into his head.
He walked over and asked softly, "Louis, any special reason you didn't play at the amusement park today?"
Louis stiffened and instinctively replied, "No."
"Are you scared?" Gavin guessed.
Louis paused mid-page turn, then looked at him sideways. "Were you scared when you were a kid?"
"Me? Scared? Nah," Gavin said. He'd never been afraid of that stuff. "I even do bungee jumping."
Louis wouldn't dare.
Gavin really wanted to know. "Come on, be real with me. Is it 'cause you're scared?"
"No."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Kids who lie won't grow tall," Gavin blurted out.
Hearing this, Louis's eyebrows furrowed, and his cute face turned a bit cold.
His dark, bright eyes locked onto Gavin, and he said, "I think I know why you've been single for so many years and no one wants you."
Gavin took it seriously. "Who told you no one wants me?"
"From a market analysis perspective, no girl would dig a guy who always hits where it hurts," Louis shot back, clearly annoyed since height was a sore spot for him. "It's no wonder you're single."
Gavin was left speechless. The words just got stuck in his throat.
He was single by choice! Not 'cause no one wanted him.
"Do you seriously think if I wanted to get married, there wouldn't be a line of people down the street wanting to marry me?" Gavin said, full of confidence.
He wasn't wrong. Even in his thirties, he was good-looking, had a killer physique, and was the CEO of the Murphy Group. Plenty of people would want to marry him.
But Louis nailed it. "Even if they come, it's not 'cause they love you, but because of your looks or your family background."
"Why do you, a kid, know so much?" Gavin was starting to think Louis was way too sharp for his age. "You're only four years old."
Louis just looked at him and didn't say a word.
Gavin gave up. Fine! He wasn't gonna argue with a kid.
That night, after Louis and Diana finished their tasks, they hit the sack on time.
For the next few days, they went to their training classes, did their homework, and Gavin was there with them the whole time.
Watching their cute little faces, he couldn't help but think of one thing.
If he and that person had ended up together, they might have had cute kids by now.
As soon as the thought popped up, he brushed it away. They weren't right for each other and could never be together.
A few days later, Louis and Diana had a weekend with no training classes.
Gavin had planned to play some games with them and then take them to the woods for some outdoor fun, but Diana had other ideas.
"Louis, let's go find Daisy." Diana's eyes sparkled. "She's filming in Gedser right now!"
"No," Louis shot her down for the first time, just like that.
Diana kept up her cute act. "Louis."
"Do you wanna see Daisy, or that little boy in her crew?" Louis called her out, his eyebrows showing a bit of seriousness.
Diana smiled, tilting her head, her eyes all cunning and cute. "How did you know?"
"Last time Mom took us to see Daisy, you couldn't take your eyes off him," Louis said seriously, despite his young voice.
"Don't you think he's good-looking?" Diana's eyes lit up, super excited. "He's the first boy I've seen who's as good-looking as you."
Diana hugged his arm and kept up the cute act. "Louis, let's go."
"No."
"Please."
"Have you finished all your homework?"
"Yes." Diana had planned this out. "I even did tomorrow's."
Louis was helpless.
'Where's your dignity? No resistance when you see a good-looking boy.'
But Louis knew Diana just wanted to see the boy out of appreciation. She, like their mom, had a thing for beautiful things.
The only difference was their mom kept it to herself, while Diana turned it into action.
"Please, Louis," Diana kept up the cute act.
