Chapter 441 You're Pretty Clever

Benjamin chuckled and gave her cheek a playful pinch. "You're a sly one, aren't ya?"

Daphne looked even more confused. "Sly? What are you talking about?"

"By not saying if you're happy or not, you're just keeping your options open for another round, huh?" Benjamin teased.

Daphne shot back, "No way."

Benjamin could tell she was embarrassed and tried to lighten the mood. "Whether you want to or not, you can't test me now. Get up, wash up, and let's grab some breakfast."

"Alright, I'm going," Daphne said, heading off.

Watching her scurry away, Benjamin took a moment to gather himself before getting out of bed.

He'd said that to ease her discomfort, but also because he knew how unpredictable he could be in the morning.

Last night, he held back, but this morning, he might not be able to.

Once he was ready, he slipped on his slippers and headed to the bathroom.

When Daphne saw him in the mirror, she felt a bit uneasy.

"Daphne," Benjamin said while squeezing toothpaste, getting serious.

Daphne was still brushing her teeth. "Hmm?"

"When are you gonna come to my base for some training?" Benjamin asked.

"Your physical condition is too poor," he added, slipping into his stern instructor mode. "For my future happiness, you should go there for some training."

"No," Daphne mumbled through her foamy mouth.

Benjamin stood behind her, looking at her in the mirror, and leaned in. "Really?"

Why did she feel like saying no was dangerous?

"If you don't go, I'll have to make you work harder to make up for it," Benjamin said seriously, his dark eyes full of meaning. "Train more, and you won't get tired so quickly."

Daphne stiffened, steadied herself, and replied, "Too much indulgence is bad for the body."

"Moderation is good though," Benjamin shot back.

Daphne silently continued brushing her teeth.

Her gut told her that Benjamin's idea of moderation was definitely different from hers.

"I'm gonna change clothes," Daphne said after finishing brushing her teeth, putting away her toothbrush and cup, and quickly running off. "Take your time washing up."

Watching her flee, Benjamin leisurely brushed his teeth, his dark eyes filled with amusement.

After changing clothes, Daphne went downstairs. She originally planned to grab her suitcase and leave immediately, but while packing, she remembered she promised to take Benjamin to visit Alexander.

Benjamin would be on a business trip in a few days, with an uncertain return date.

And soon, she would be proposing to Benjamin. It was time to visit Alexander.

With this in mind, she contacted Alexander, who had plans with friends. However, when he heard Daphne ask if he was free today, he immediately said he was.

Daphne didn't mention bringing Benjamin back, only that she was going home.

She hadn't asked Benjamin yet; if he had plans, it wouldn't be good to say anything prematurely.

When Benjamin came down, he saw her sitting on the couch, playing with her phone, her fingers tapping away on the keyboard.

He instantly knew she was messaging someone.

"Come eat," he said.

Daphne obediently went to have breakfast.

During the meal, she glanced at her phone and saw Alexander asking what she wanted for lunch. She turned off the screen and asked Benjamin, "Hey, you free today?"

"Yeah," Benjamin replied. "Why?"

"I wanna take you home to meet my family," Daphne said.

"When?" Benjamin asked.

"Can we go later?" Daphne suggested.

"Sure," Benjamin agreed without hesitation.

With that, Daphne replied to Alexander's message.

She typed: [I'm not picky. Have the cook prepare for one more. I'm bringing Benjamin.]

Alexander was stunned when he saw the message.

He handed the phone to Lydia, who was home. "What does Daphne mean by this?"

"She's bringing Benjamin for a meal," Lydia replied calmly.

"I know it's for a meal. I mean, what does she mean by this?" Alexander said, getting excited.

Lydia put down the phone and blinked. "Dad, are you confused?"

"You're the one who's confused," Alexander snorted. "Does this mean she's formally introducing Benjamin to us?"

"Probably," Lydia said flatly.

"Don't give me 'probably.' Just say yes or no," Alexander pressed.

"Yes," Lydia played along.

"Then should I change into something more dashing?" Alexander took this meeting very seriously.

Last time, Benjamin brought Daphne back but didn't stay for a meal. According to Daphne, she felt they weren't stable enough yet.

Now that she was bringing him back, it meant they were stable.

In that case, it was time to have a good talk with Benjamin.

"No need. Benjamin has seen you before," Lydia said nonchalantly, having already crashed their meals several times. "Plus, even if you wear something dashing, sitting next to Benjamin, you'll still look..."

Alexander's face immediately darkened. "Like what?" he snapped.

"Look like the most handsome one," Lydia said with a smile.

Alexander glared at her.

He knew he wasn't as handsome as Benjamin, but that didn't matter! What mattered most was making a good impression on his future son-in-law.

"Stop snacking. Help me later. I'll make them a good meal," Alexander said, already thinking about the menu. "After all, this is the first time Daphne is bringing her boyfriend home."

Lydia's eyes were darting around as she called, "Dad."

"What?" Alexander replied.

"If I bring my boyfriend home, will you make us a good meal too?" Lydia asked tentatively.

"Are you planning to?" Alexander asked, his brows furrowing instantly.

"Can't I?" Lydia felt a bit guilty, pursing her lips. "Haven't you met him and agreed to us being together?"

"I only agreed to you dating, not to marriage," Alexander said sternly. "Besides, you said you wouldn't call Daphne back then, but you did."

When Daphne came, Alexander had no room to assert his authority.

Lydia touched her nose, clearly feeling guilty.

If she hadn't called Daphne that day, things could have gone terribly wrong. Nick couldn't cope with Alexander being around.

"Don't even think about bringing him to discuss marriage," Alexander said bluntly. "Just focus on your dating."
