Chapter 245 Who is K

"What?" Kayla was completely stunned.

She didn't know if she had been exposed or if, as Daphne had said before, he was testing her.

The man's voice carried a hint of danger. "You should know my patience is limited."

"I really don't know what you mean," Kayla replied, trying to stay calm.

"Don't know? Then why was your phone's system suddenly reinforced by K?" The man's aura was extremely dangerous. "Since you won't talk, I'll have to make your brother and grandma force you to speak."

"I really don't know!" Kayla was on the verge of tears. "Please don't go after them."

The man seemed to have run out of patience. "This is your last chance. Besides you, who else has used your phone? Tell me, and I'll reward you. If you don't, you'll find out the consequences."

His words made Kayla feel like she had fallen into an ice cave; she was helpless.

Her hands and feet were cold, and she could barely breathe, let alone answer.

"Still not talking?" The man's voice sounded very dangerous.

Kayla shivered instinctively.

It was a subconscious fear of this person.

Seeing this, Daphne reached out and held her free hand, giving her a firm look and a warm touch.

At that moment, Kayla's panicked heart seemed to be soothed instantly.

She looked at Daphne with red eyes, her lips pale, as if she were about to cry.

"I really haven't given it to anyone. It's always been with me, except..." Kayla paused, as if she remembered something.

The person on the other end noticed it, too.

He asked, "Except what?"

"I lost my phone once shortly after returning to the country," Kayla said slowly, as if recalling, "Other than that, it's always been with me."

He asked, "How did you lose your phone?"

"I don't know. I went out, and when I came back, it was gone. I told Charles, and he helped me find it."

After she said this, the other side fell silent.

Daphne gave her a surprised look.

She was a bit surprised by Kayla's quick thinking.

Kayla, however, was flustered by her look and waved her hand anxiously.

Daphne was stunned, not immediately understanding her meaning.

"I swear every word I said is true. Please don't trouble my grandma and brother," Kayla said urgently.

The man said only one thing, "Whether your grandma and brother will be safe depends on whether you're lying."

He hung up before Kayla could respond.

The man rubbed his phone, his narrow eyes unreadable.

He looked at the woman still in front of the computer and asked in a pleasant voice, "Check the surveillance around Kayla and see if there's anything suspicious."

The woman complied and then replied, "Nothing."

"Are you sure Kayla's phone was reinforced by K?" the man asked again.

"I'm sure," the woman, with her long hair, both cool and beautiful, replied, "She trained me herself, so I'm familiar with everything about her."

The man's eyes fell into deep thought.

He finally said, "Keep a close watch on Kayla's phone. Tell me where she goes and who she meets."

"Okay." the woman nodded.

Meanwhile, On Daphne's side.

To prevent any hackers from listening in through Kayla's phone, she signaled Kayla to go to the living room to talk.

Kayla didn't ask much and followed instructions.

Once outside, before Daphne could ask, Kayla immediately explained, "I mentioned Charles because he's capable. It makes more sense that he found my lost phone. Don't misunderstand."

"I know," Daphne said, her eyes showing understanding.

Kayla sighed in relief and suddenly remembered the phone call. "By the way."

Daphne asked, "What?"

Kayla said, "He mentioned someone."

Daphne asked, "Who?"

Kayla replied, "K."

Daphne paused.

Kayla explained everything, "He asked why my phone had a system reinforced by K."

Daphne said, "Give me your phone."

Kayla said, "Okay."

Kayla obediently fetched her new phone.

After getting the phone, Daphne connected it to her computer with a data cable and installed an app. Once everything was set up, she handed the phone back to Kayla, signaling her to put it away.

"What was that just now?" Kayla asked as she came out.

"From now on, use that app to contact me," Daphne said, "Don't call or text."

Kayla nodded. "Okay."

The app was something she had written and secured.

Even if the other side had hackers, they wouldn't find the app on Kayla's phone. She had hidden it with a special program.

Kayla called out, "Daphne!"

Daphne asked, "What?"

Kayla asked, "How does he know about my situation? How did he know I just had a call?"

"It was probably a coincidence." Daphne guessed. "When I called you, he happened to call you too."

Kayla paused.

She immediately went to check and, after calming down, noticed there was indeed a missed call.

She had been too busy and nervous earlier, seeing several notifications and clearing them all as system ads from the new phone.

"What about my phone's black screen?" Kayla asked.

"The hacker on his side did it." Daphne didn't hide it from her. "Given his style, they probably also checked the surveillance around you."

Kayla was stunned. "A hacker?"

Wasn't that something only in movies?

She instinctively thought of what was said earlier and asked, "Who is this K he mentioned?"

"Also a hacker," Daphne didn't say directly.

But Kayla's eyes said it all; she already knew that the K he mentioned was Daphne.

Daphne didn't explain and said, "Just go about your life as usual. As for everything else, pretend you're unaware."

"Okay." Kayla nodded in a daze.

Daphne planned to leave.

Kayla thought of the most important thing and still asked, "Will he harm my grandma and brother?"

"Whether he will or not, you don't need to worry too much," Daphne said confidently, "I've arranged for them to be well protected. They'll be fine."

Kayla said, "Thank you."

Daphne said, "You're welcome."

After a brief conversation, Daphne gave Kayla a few more instructions and then left.

Just like when she came, she avoided the surveillance and took a cab to leave.

Once in the car.

She thought about using her phone to ask Evan if they had left. If they hadn't, she would go directly to them. But then she saw several messages on her phone.

Charles: [Let me know when you're done, I'll take you back.]

Benjamin: [What's up? Why did you leave so quickly?]

Benjamin: [Aren't you coming back?]

Kevin: [Daphne! Come back soon!!! I think something's wrong with Benjamin. He was hitting the ball so hard when we played. I couldn't catch a single one.]

Kevin: [Daphne?]
