Chapter 390 Which Idiot

"Just keep loving and caring for her like always," Benjamin said in a laid-back tone. "Marriage is a lifelong thing. She should pick the guy she loves the most from all her suitors."

"Even if she doesn't pick you?" Jesse asked, surprised.

"Yes," Benjamin replied firmly.

He could say this because he knew he'd always love Daphne deeply.

Daphne wasn't the type to waver. Whatever happiness others could offer, he could too, and even more.

"If you ever stop loving her, don't betray her," Jesse said, seemingly satisfied.

"I'll love her till the end," Benjamin promised.

With that, Jesse handed him a document.

Benjamin was about to open it when Jesse spoke again.

"This has all of Ms. Murphy's preferences, both work and personal," Jesse said formally. "It also lists her food and medication allergies. You should go through it carefully."

Even though Benjamin loved Daphne, he couldn't know every little detail about her.

They hadn't lived together long enough for him to know all her habits.

Now that he was her boyfriend, Jesse felt it was time to share this info.

Benjamin read through it. If he thought Jesse was just concerned before, now he knew it was more than that. The details were too thorough.

"Insomnia?" Benjamin noticed the bold text, frowning.

"A few years ago, she had trouble sleeping and needed aromatherapy," Jesse explained seriously. "She's better now, but it could come back, so I noted it."

Benjamin's eyes stayed on the text.

Daphne had never slept beside him, so he didn't know about her sleep issues.

Since she came back, she seemed energetic every day, so he hadn't thought about it.

"When did it start?" he asked.

"July, four years ago," Jesse recalled. "She went out with Evan and the others, and when she came back, she had insomnia."

Benjamin froze. That was around their toughest mission, where Daphne almost got seriously hurt. It was a bloody, dangerous scene, but they completed the mission and everyone returned.

"I need to get back to work," Jesse said after explaining. "Take good care of Ms. Murphy."

"Wait," Benjamin stopped him.

"What is it?" Jesse asked.

"You..." Benjamin hesitated.

"I like Ms. Murphy, but not like you do," Jesse said, understanding. "If you don't treat her well, I'll take care of her myself."

With that, Jesse left.

Benjamin felt relieved.

If Jesse had romantic feelings for Daphne, he might have left HorizonTech Group to pursue her. Jesse treated Daphne very well, and Benjamin couldn't compete with that. Luckily, their feelings were different.

After reading the document, Benjamin put it in the drawer, planning to talk to Daphne about it later.

She hadn't mentioned her insomnia, and she had stayed at the organization's base for about a week after that mission.

When Daphne left work in the afternoon, she rode with Benjamin. With Jesse not needing to pick her up, he spent more time at the company.

On the way home, Daphne noticed a slight worry on Benjamin's face.

She glanced at him and asked, "Benjamin, something on your mind?"

"Yeah," he nodded.

"What is it?" she asked.

"I'm wondering why a certain idiot didn't tell me about her insomnia," he said, glancing at her while driving.

Daphne thought, 'Idiot? Insomnia?' She asked, "Which idiot?"

"Whoever responds is the one," Benjamin said, amused by her confused look.

Daphne was puzzled.

"Jesse said you had a long period of insomnia and needed aromatherapy to sleep," Benjamin said, feeling a mix of emotions. "Was it from that mission?"

Daphne's thoughts drifted back. Her insomnia was indeed related to that mission. Not just her, but Emma and the others were also affected.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Benjamin asked.

"You were too harsh," Daphne answered seriously.

A hint of emotion crossed Benjamin's face. This was the second time Daphne had said he was harsh. Was he really that harsh?

"You could have talked to Colin and the others," Benjamin said, referring to his friend Colin Parker, who was also close to Daphne and her team. "Weren't you all close back then?"

Daphne stopped teasing and spoke honestly, "I didn't think it was a big deal. I thought it would get better in a few days."

But it didn't. The stress led to worsening insomnia.

"Next time, tell me immediately if something's wrong," Benjamin said with a smile. "Don't bear it alone."

"Okay," Daphne agreed.

As the car drove on, Daphne watched the buildings pass by, feeling a deep sense of peace.

She had never understood what tranquility felt like, but at this moment, she did.

Seeing her serene face, Benjamin smiled, his eyes filled with tenderness. He began to think about what delicious meal to cook tonight to win Daphne's heart.

They arrived at the apartment complex at 6:30. Just as they were about to drive into the underground parking lot, a figure suddenly appeared, enthusiastically greeting Benjamin, "Benjamin!"

Benjamin's car stopped.

Daphne looked at the stylishly dressed, elegant Mira and asked, "Your friend?"

Benjamin was about to explain, "No..."

"Benjamin!" Mira walked over, smiling sweetly. "I've been waiting for you."
